These boards are dangerous. We like Grand Californian but live within an easy drive of DL and most of our trips are last minute weekend whims, so it's hard to justify paying more than 1.5x for points I could use at WDW or 2.5x points at Aulani.... but as I watch contracts disappear I start thinking to myself... well, maybe I should get a VGC contract before many people do the math on VDH... I can always rent out my points if I can't use them.

1) We are a bunch of enablers
2) SoCal > Central FL
3) I wouldn’t buy VGC if I lived a short drive to DLand because there is such limited inventory and you always have to book 7 to 11 months out.
4) If I could buy VDH resale at ~$150 a point with lots of studio availability within 7m then it might be more interesting as a local.
5) I am a 2hour plane flight with kids…. so… VGC, Baby!

It’s interesting to see everyone flocking back to VGC. But no one really knows whether VGC is completely safe from this high TOT in the near future considering they’re both in the City of Anaheim.
It’s probably worth writing to DVC leadership to ask about. If it is in fact locked in at a lower negotiated rate, I bet they’d answer.

VGC’s lower negotiated rate is complete speculation. No one really knows. But I think it’s coming. No one is safe from rising taxes. It’s just politics IMO.

Right. That’s why I’d ask.

The rate has been 15% since 1996. I checked the laws myself. So that’s not it.
I honestly don’t want to ask nor do I want to know. Not yet. A part of me doesn’t want to give them any ideas, not that it would make a difference. 😂. It’s California. I’m just going to accept the fact that we’re just going to haveto pay a whole lot more to vacation there. Nothing we can do. Maybe I need to consider going to Orlando more, even if it means paying more in airfare. Rock and a hard place is what this is 😭. It’s so sad. Everyone’s been waiting for so long for VDH, just to find out how expensive it will be to own there for the next 50 years.

whats funny is that even coming from the east coast I’ve always considered Disneyland the cheaper trip, because the off site options don’t miss out on anything, the food, character meals, and experiences are all cheaper, and there’s no need to stay more than 4-5 days. 🤷‍♂️

I spoke to my guide yesterday about the add on tool at VGC. He said there are no points available to add on. And then heavily pushed VDH 🤣. When I told him about the parking fee and tax, he said I already pay them through the VGC maintenance fees and that VDH doesn’t include them in the maintenance fees. Which I could understand but for other posters pointing out that the maintenance fees at VDH are higher than VGC. Then he said I could buy a duo Tower at VDH with lower points. But I’m not interested in the Tower rooms.

So now I’m considering a VGC resale contract but it’s near to impossible to find one with a Feb use year.

I think part of it is also that $230 per point price when most were expecting it to be lower. With recent VGC resale being not much more than that, it makes sense that people want to grab those contracts. I suspect any new ones that show up will be listed a lot higher and that might make the $230 for VDH look more appealing for some.

California expenses are why we no longer live there lol I truly love DL and grew up there. But the lack of theming and amenities, basically a bare bones tower, compared to WDW resorts is depressing. Starting to shift my focus to maybe buying a small contract at VGF. This tax is nutty! Like how can they just add it on in such a high amount when VGC isn’t even close to that. San Diego offers a similar tax as well if that makes any one feel any better lol I do worry about what could change fee wise with VDH, and don’t want to be locked in, especially with the resale restrictions. Idkkkkk, my brain hurts more lol but mainly I feel sad and let down by DVC

The asking went up $20 on that yesterday. And the agent is kinda awful. I bid multiple times on this one but reached the point where I just didn't want to bid anymore.

Good to know. I’ll pass on it in that case.
