Gramma jinxed disney on spring break! PARTING THOUGHTS 06/15/09

Welcome back, tammie!! Really looking forward to reading about your adventures!! I'm leaving for a week on Saturday for the Outer Banks, NC, so if I don't reply next week, just know I'll be back!!:goodvibes

I moved you over to our regular board. S you will have to take the PTR out of your Title. I saw you want to rename it anyhow.

Thanks Ellen! Have a great time if I don't get to say it to you again before you go!

I'm so so sorry I missed you. I forgot to put your # in my phone and didn't have it with me, then your message didn't pop up until late that day and it didn't give me the phone # on my phone:confused3 but I chose to reply to your message and left one. I hope you got that.
We ended up at Everest right around park opening and I was looking for you, we had FP safaril and walked back to dino land, by Everest, then I was back at Everest around 10:00 getting FPs. There was a big line for FP there.
I hope you had a wonderful trip.
We had a great time, perfect weather. Our trip had a bad ending...I'll have to tell you later about that.
We loved AKL and OKW, great places to stay.:)

Welcome back :) (:( for you) LOL .... cant wait to hear and read all about it!

Hey Julie, I'm sorry we missed each other. I didn't get your message.:guilty: We were a few minutes late - got there right after opening. We ran to Everest first and Jim was in the long line for FP. We were probably in the same area and just didn't see each other. I was looking for you, too. I started to get in the standby line, then decided that we could do it on Sat again, so we got a FP and headed over to Dinosaur - pretty much a walk on.

I'm sorry about the end of your trip. I'll have to hear about it for sure. Are you doing a TR?

Okay, the Portland Rose Quarter:

The game - Gonzaga vs. Akron Zips :confused3 They have a Zippy Kangaroo:

When the game was over, Gonzaga was the winner and Akron was out. We took the "Max" train back to the park next to the hotel and walked to the hotel. DGS and DDIL were ready to head back for the next game with us - there were 4 games that day. We took the Max back - DGS was quite upset when the first two trains came and left without us - he wanted on the train! Here he is enjoying the game:
March09BBallZooWDW007.jpg

We had club level tickets, so it was really nice to take breaks and get snacks - less people- room for DGS to run around a bit, carpeted hallway, and shorter lines for snacks.

After this game, DDIL and I took DGS back to the hotel in a cab and we watched the next game on TV while the boys stayed there. At half-time, they came back to take us to dinner at Applebees 3 blocks away. We walked in a light rain. The TV was on, and the game got really good at the end - I think they were disappointed that they left early - blamed it on us wanting to go to dinner. We didn't ask them to come back. :confused3

I had the little sliders and some clam chowder - to die for! Jim had an appetizer platter. I don't remember what everyone had - DGS, 22 mo, got really upset when the waiter started clearing the table, even though he was way done eating! :lmao: The waiter had to put some of the plates back so he would stop crying!

The next day was a free day, so we decided to go off to the famous Portland Zoo - Next Post!

Hey, Tammie! Welcome back! And I'll have you know that I was a Zip!!! I took summer classes at U of Akron back when I went to Miami U in Ohio. And I have no idea what a zip is! :confused3

Looking forward to reading all about your trip!

yay!!!! can't wait to hear all about how you jinxed disney. writing a TR always helps to ease the disney blues for me. ;)

:rotfl2::rotfl2:Thanks Dan, you're too funny! I will take a picture of your prize before I mail it, so everyone can share the fun. I'll give you a hint - it isn't the "valuable prize" from The Christmas Story movie!:goodvibes
not the valuable prize for the christmas story, huh, so does that mean that you stole something from disney? something stolen cant have a value since you did not pay for it.

heck i would have been happy with some disney napkins and a shampoo from the hotel.

yay!!!! can't wait to hear all about how you jinxed disney. writing a TR always helps to ease the disney blues for me. ;)

it also helps if you drag your report out for months, until you can start reporting a PreTR again.:thumbsup2 not that i have ever done that or anything.:rolleyes1

So cool that you got to go to some of the NCAA games, i would love to do that sometime.

Our little guy gets honked off as well when we take things off the table, even if he is done eating and throwing his food on the floor for the dog to eat.
:sad2:

Cant wait for more updates, keep em coming.

Well, who knew you were so Zippy!:lmao: One of our seat neighbors said that it used to be a Zeppelin and somehow "slanged" its way to the Zips.

Oh good, you won't be disappointed:thumbsup2 It was really fun to have those tickets - really hard to get, and we don't usually get to host those kinds of events in Oregon!

Welcome back!

Thanks! It seems like we just left, and a week ago our vacation was half over!

Hi. I just found your PTR and read through it. I am looking forward to hearing about your trip.

Welcome!:cheer2: Thanks for joining in!

hi there, glad to see that you made it back in one piece. I'm glad your back now I can pump you for info on good things to do in Vegas... can't wait to read more :)

Thanks! I know you're excited about your Vegas trip! Have you been there before? We have been 4 times in the last 7 years - this will be our 5th trip- so I can probably help.

Thank you, and there were some good games, but I only went to the first games, cuz I let my youngest DS have my seat for the rest.

Friday dawned rainy and cool as Oregon should be in the Sprintg. Since it was a "no-game" day, we decided to head out to the zoo. It is a nice zoo, but alot of the animals were sleeping or hiding as it was early and cold.

This is our controversial cougar. They are so beautiful - hunting them is outlawed, which you could agree to, except we are living in their woods, and they are no longer afraid of us, so they hang out and attack our pets and stalk our small children - kind of chilling to be this close to them. They say that if we have been in the woods camping, they have been sitting above us in the trees watching us.:scared1:

End of a nice morning:
March09BBallZooWDW062.jpg

We headed downtown to Rock Bottom, a brew pub DS knew about. They have hand-crafted beer and home made root beer, which of course they were out of;) We had a great lunch and then shopped at Nordstrom Rack, where Jim found me a great pair of walking shoes for the trip. I really have a hard time with sneakers. I buy them and then they are uncomfortable or they rub my heels, etc. etc. These were great and I wore them to the parks twice!:thumbsup2

By that time our youngest DS and his family were in town, so we headed back to the hotel to get them checked in, gave the babies their naps and headed out for something we had been looking forward to for months - family night out at

JOE'S CRAB SHACK!!! (NEXT POST- REMEMBER OUR STOMACH BUG? OH YES!)

Welcome back Tammie! Can't wait to read about your trip. Although I must admit - I'm a little scared of the next installment - the words "crab" and "shack" do not sound like a good combo, IMO!:scared:

Well, who knew you were so Zippy!:lmao: One of our seat neighbors said that it used to be a Zeppelin and somehow "slanged" its way to the Zips.

Ah, yes, because of Akron being the rubber capital, and the Zeppelin (i.e. Goodyear Blimp), that makes sense....

Bobcat scratch and sniff (as IF):lmao:

Just what I was thinking!!! :rotfl2:

I HATE it when that happens!!! ;):lmao:

Great update - that zoo looks like a good one!
