Graduation Party - Is this enough?

A popular item around here are barbecue beef sandwiches. Super easy to make ahead of time, then throw the shredded beef into a tray mixed with the barbecue sauce. Add some rolls and a crock pot of beans and you have an easy, inexpensive, but substantial meal.

Most people I know that do not have very young kids don't eat dinner till that time, so I would also have sandwiches. The desserts sound yummy.

I would expect an invitation for 7:00 to include dinner.

I have never been to a graduation party that didn't include a meal, so if I were you I would plan on some kind of food besides sweets. Your party time is dinner time to many people. If you are going to go to the bother of renting tents and tables why not go all the way and have a simple dinner? I just went to a high school graduation party two weeks ago with no cake. That was a bummer :(. I really wanted some graduation cake!

I agree- I don't care what time the party is there is always some kind of food other than chips and dessert! I went to a party recently that started at 9pm and there was a full spread of food.

We had a party this weekend for my daughter who turned 18 and graduated from high school all in the same weekend. It started at 7pm and we had about 35-40 people. I had big sub platters, a chick fil a nugget platter (the large one), a big platter of shrimp with cocktail sauce, fruit tray with fruit dip, veggie tray with dip, potato salad, spinach dip with crackers, cake, ice cream and a small candy display. Everything, and I do mean everything, was eaten. The only thing we had left was a few veggies, some ice cream and a little bit of cake but the cake was 3 tiers and there wasn' t a whole lot left. Everyone showed up hungry so I would plan on that for that time of day.

We had a great time and I hope you do too, OP!

Sounds amazing! :thumbsup2

I'm so glad I posted -- Thanks, everyone!

Sam's Club has part ring sandwiches that are quite good and serve about 20 servings per ring.

We used these for a party we had and people seemed to like them.

We also got a veggie tray and a fruit tray and a meat and cheese finger food tray all from Sam's.

We did call in our order ahead of time to make sure it would be available. It is VERY easy to just open the package and set it out as they come with their own trays.

Thanks so much, everyone!! I knew I should start listening to that little voice in the back of my head.

I'm going to order a couple of platters of sandwiches, and will have some bowls of chips. I'll also put together a nice veggie tray with ranch dip (with extra veggies for refilling).

I was just looking for something simple, that can be made ahead of time and doesn't require heating/reheating.
