Graduation Parties - Are they that BIG of a deal where you live?

Everyone around here has a graduation party, 8th grade and high school. DD was invited to a whole bunch, but if DH and I are not invited and we don't receive an actual invitation in the mail, she doesn't bring a gift. It's usually just friends hanging out. Now if we get an invite, we'll all go if we can and bring a gift of money and if we can't make it, we'll mail a card. That's how it was when I was in school, too.

Not a thing here at all. Maybe a small family thing sometimes?

I do think it’s a thing in rural areas.

They are a huge thing here in our Midwestern suburb. They are not gift grabs but just fun open house type parties to celebrate. Most kids invite tons of classmates. A few teachers swing through as well. The hardest part was choosing a time that would allow him to attend several others.

DS's was last weekend and our last of 3 kids/parties. It was so much fun and very relaxed. He got some cards and some with money from friends. Plenty didn't bring anything and it was definitely not expected.
