Grad Night & Disney Ruin Magic Kingdom Stay

Now I know where to find all the people that believe it is their God-given right to have hall parties in hotels where I frequently stay.

Does this attitude that the OP should have known mean that if you're spending $200/night on a hotel room anywhere, that it is the guest's response to find out what's going on in the hotel or in the neighborhood. Ridiculous. I don't think it's asking too much to have quiet after midnight at WDW or anywhere.

You are comparing hall parties and a private party occurring in a location that is probably a mile away? I don't think you would find one person on this thread that would defend a hall party. If you are planning a theme park vacation, you have to accept the noise that accompanies the activities that a theme park destination resort supports. Do you think that the festivities end at WDW on New Years Eve at midnight? I would guess that those people who planned far ahead and spent the extra money to be there would be disappointed if the lights went out and the band went home. There ar certain conveniences and inconveniences that come with certain destinations. If you want peace and quiet on vacation, go to Kauai, the night life ends at 8 pm.

Having gone to Grad Night back in '88, I remember how wonderful it was for those graduating. It was a way to celebrate in style, with some of the TOP preformers that were playing on the radio at that time, Hell, I got to meet both Steve Perry AND Michael Bolton. *chuckles*

We had freedom because our parents weren't with us, and we all beleived we were grown up, until we were herded back onto our busses and back to our schools, hours away.

I'm sorry to those who don't agree, but Grad night is a WONDERFUL experience for the kids, it occurs several saturday nights in april, and gives kids a GREAT outlet. I hope they keep it going for years! It's a private Party, it's a special event that happens ONCE in a kids life. Love it or hate it... just get OVER it.

You know, I can't say I am clued in on the troll issue, and I know that no one knows what really happened, but personally, if noise had kept my toddlers up all night during a Disney vacation, I would break down into sobs. I think I would be just crushed.

We left a late evening pin event at AK this evening. We drove out the back of MK, which winds along of Space Mountain.
We LISTENED for music coming from MK. It was so faint it was BARELY audible. Had we not been listening for it, I know we would not have heard it. Maybe it was just timing on out part. ??? This would have been just around 10:30 tonight.
I have heard the midnight fireworks these last two nights. But if staying on site, I most likely would see that as a plus.
:teeth:

Yea, what's up with this 50th Celebration thing? I fear that this is going to attract a large number of people to WDW in May and inconvenience me by causing me and my family to have to wait in line to ride the rides - rides that we are paying hundreds of dollars to have access to!!!

/couldn't resist

Ahhh, but here's the difference.....you know about it ahead of time.

Someone actually thinks everyone knows about Grad Night? That is hilarious. I'm guessing you've never lived outside of Florida. Maybe everyone in Florida knows about Grad Night but not the entire nation.

This thread is still pathetic. I don't care if the guys is lying and is the biggest complainer on the planet you people are harsh, IMHO.

Note to self: never complain about WDW on the DisBoards.....even if I think my feedback might actually help someone else avoid what made me unhappy. :sad2:

Anyone know of a Disney board where I can actually get objective info? No one will dare post a bad word about the place after this thread.

For the most part, he is getting the same type of response at the 3 boards he posted to. None of which he seemed to use to research BEFORE his trip. I don't think you can blame the DIS for that.

I am not in FL and I know about grad nights. Why? Because I make it my business to know what is going on when I am there. I love the extra 'perks' you get from some of these special events.

I'm a ni;ght owl and usually the last one to complain about noise.
But about 20 years ago we were there in May...at the Poly, Lagoon front, and the bands kept playing LOUD til 4AM at least. The bass was particularly bad.
Yes, I 'm sure it was one of the first GRAD NIGHTS. I would have thought that they could have placed the bands so that they weren't 'open' across the Seven Seas Lagoon. And yes, I felt ripped off that we had this gorgeous laggon front room...but it was way hard to get any sleep.

OP...don't let the harsh words of some of the people posting get to you.
You had no reason to think GRAD NIGHT would go on all night. And if the noise bothers, you then it bothers you. I think Disney should let people in the Poly and CR know about all night events. And I'm not sure why they couldn't ahve the bands play til midnight, then food and rides the rest of the night.

I'm going back next week...MAY...but staying at BWV. I loved the Poly...was engaged there...but it is a lot of money to not be lulled to sleep by slack key Hawaian music along the walkways.

The letter actually reads like a "demand letter." Disney will probably not respond. The OP demands a 2 night refund(most guests would have changed rooms the very next day). He further demands Disney change business practice to list all events that could possibly disturb guests. I wonder how weather changes would be properly forewarned. Traffic:strollers on Main St., lines for rides, waits for shows. How could Disney not warn ALL prospective guests that these type things might occur? Grad Nights take place at amusement parks, zoos, museums, all over the country. Perhaps the lines of school students waiting to get into the MK were a sign that something was going on! This complaint sounds like an attempt to get a premium room for a bargain basement price. Chalk up the information that you have gained and know to avoid Grad Nights in the future.
