Government Auctions

Just wondering if anyone has ever purchased anything from these. One of my ds told me his one teacher has a really nice vehicle and it used to belong to the border patrol (?) and he got it at an auction. I dont know if he was telling ds the truth or not as he is a new teacher to the school and I really dont know him well. Don't know what is a joke or serious to him yet etc. Now ds wants us to look into this.

There are many legitimate gov't auctions. The federal agency I retired from has been selling vehicles and other stuff (computers, etc.) that way for years. I think one of the Web sites to check is gsaauctions.gov (or you could google for government auctions). I expect there are some phony ones out there, too -- so it's good to do research.

Our city gov't does public auctions also. They even put the stuff on EBAY.
I have seen in the paper about the fed. govt auctions too. Where they are selling vehicles and stuff like that.

A science teacher at my high school drove this huge yellow pick up truck that he bought at a gov't auction. It was great because he was a great teacher and coach and we just all loved his truck!

I too work for a government auctions website. Its true. I'll give you an example. I went to police seizure auction a few weeks ago in Santa Ana, Ca. where they sold a bunch of cars under $500, mind you they all ran!

The one that caught my attention was an 88 VW Cabriolet that sold for $230.
