Tickets arrived this week from Virgin Holidays but unexpected query arises.

Here's the SP.....

Had pre-bought Unlimited Magic 21-day pass plus Busch Gardens/Sea World Flexi-ticket due to 10% discount with Frequent Virgin saving us c.£80. Knew from our last visit that this would include a voucher for Disney that we exchanged at Guest Relations but find that I have to exchange another voucher for BG/SW with Virgin locally?

It gives me a local 407 tel. number to call to arrange.

Is this another ploy to make us attend a Welcome Meeting as I have no desire or time for such and ain't gonna waste a morning waiting around for a Rep to hand over the tickets.

Whats anyone else's experience plse? ::MickeyMo

And here's the dancing.....

Hmmm, Im afraid it is a cunning ploy to get you to the dreaded welcome meeting. It happened to someone else on another board. Very cheeky if you ask me.

I would ask them to drop them off at the desk of your hotel - you have paid for them, why should you waste precious holiday time having to collect them!???

My thoughts exactly!

Are they willing & able to do this? Maybe they'll meet me at my sun lounger at TL on the Saturday morning.... ::MickeyMo

Willing - definately not - able - yes, but you will probably have to fight to get them to do it. Call Virgin now (via the Frequent Virgin club as you are a member) and complain - say you would never have bought the tickets if it meant going to the welcome meeting as you are "busy" on your first morning - and every subsequent morning :teeth: . Tell them they will have to deliver them to the hotel or you will cancel as they you were at no time told they would need to be collected. If you dont get any joy (its worth staying firm, but polite) ask for a supervisor.

If they still argue, ask to see evidence that you would have to collect the tickets - if they cant provide it, say you will contact trading standards etc etc.

Good luck. Ive had many a similar battle with Virgin and persistance pays off - but you do need to be tenacious with them.

Oooh that's mean of them. I've never heard of them doing that before. We've always bought our tickets from them and just got vouchers to exchange at parks. Who on earth wants to waste a morning attending a welcome meeting. We've never been to one yet and don't think we've suffered as a result.
Good luck with phoning them whenever we try we always end up in their Indian call centre. Very helpful as long as you don't want them to do anything for you!

I'll call FVC on Monday and put another post on here.

In meantime, any other feedback/experience appreciated..... ::MickeyMo

BTW Lisash, I see you stayed at Marriott/Fairfield/LBV - that's ours this time.... Good experience/comments plse? We know LBV well from last trip, but interested in your views. Thanks ::MickeyMo

We noticed on our last visit that some of the hotels have Virgin offices on their premises. Maybe you could arrange to pick your tickets up from one of them if they refuse to deliver to your hotel. :confused3

That way you are meeting a Virgin rep. but not having to attend their lengthy welcome meeting/sales pitch! ;)

That's an awful scam! We didn't buy our tix through Virgin (although we booked our holiday) becasue I was going to get them off the net and then my TA price matched them and booked the tix through Keith Prowse. I have to say I only ever buy "tickets" as even swapping vouchers at the park seems like a waste of valuable time.

Trying to get you to a welcome meeting is akin to Timeshare sales :0) Why would you waste your time?? Especially as they ain't gonna tell you anything you didn;t learn already on the DIS.

Good luck - hope you sort it out.

ps I've had a couple of run ins with Virgin over my holiday - and as long as you are firm polite and insistent they usually come over to your way of thinking.

Seems like the message here is to be firm with them before we go?

Maybe the us-calling-them to arrange collection is fair to them, but why not follow the Disney method they obviously have (& had two years ago too) of giving a voucher that you exchange at the gate on production of photo-ID?

That way, no one feels like they're having their time wasted or imposed on. Hope Mr Branson is listening. ::MickeyMo
