We received the call that DH's 2 diving tours at Epcot on Dec 15/16 have been cancelled. I'm really disappointed/mad but what to do about it??

Those tours were a big reason why we even planned a Platinum Pacakage trip. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

OMG! I am so sorry. My DW and I did the dive a few years back - best dive either of us have ever done (...and I was a dive instructor in Hawaii so that's saying something). I wonder if it's because of the crowds? BTW: we arrive on the 19th, if you're still there, we'll wave to you as we walk by :-)

they've been cancelling those tours for several weeks now due to some issues with the water tank.

Nytimez, good idea but we're already spending $1k for a platinum package...can't justify more for DC.

Duey, that's nice to hear. We're planning Hawaii for later in 2012...and DH wants to do some diving there.

When I called on 11/16, they told me that tours are canceled until (through?) January 7, 2012. That date is no doubt subject to change. I hope you are able to find something almost as fun to compensate you for the disappointment.

Did they offer you something to replace them?

This would be my questions. When Cirque is dark on Premuim Plans you get a gift card for the price of the show instead. I would be checking into some type of comp espically since it's 2 tours you are losing out on.

we were, of course, offered another tour but we don't want other tours. These are the only 2 we had scheduled. We're considering cancelling and re-booking in the spring (however, that will mean we must do THREE nights minimum on the platinum instead of the one we had booked).

we're pondering our options over the weekend.

As a diver, you should understand that dives are often canceled because of inclement weather. As the daughter of two master dive instructors, I know that very well. Granted, Disney dive is inside but with the sport of diving, it's just something you need to adjust to. I would imagine you were given your money back for the Dive or if it was part of the package, I would request what someone else would have paid for the dives.

It is a bummer! Our tour got cancelled in Sept. We arrived at Epcot for the tour and found out then! Big bummer since it was too late to do something in it's place on the platinum plan...

Would you be willing to give up the platinum package? I'd call and see if they could refund that for you, if the only reason you got it was for the diving experience.

Yeah, the last part there. I don't generally consider weather when I'm going to be indoors...I don't wear galoshes to bed even in a thunderstorm. DH is the diver (newly certified at that) and it IS disappointing for him. The dives were a big part of the trip.

We are considering it but we would lose airfare/deposit as we weren't notified until past our cancellation date. Plus we have V&A and the Fireworks cruise booked...we'd still like to do those. We've considered re-booking for early spring...and still might...but that $3k we'd pay then for the 3 nite minimum is triple what we paid for the one nght plan. We're still pondering.

What about swapping in the Wild Africa Tour, if there's room? It's not diving, but still a cool experience.

I know you had your heart set on diving, but there are a number of other really interesting tours available at WDW. Have you looked at them all?

Can't you just cancel the platinum part, not the rest? Keep the room, and the park tickets, but dump whatever makes the trip platinum. Then, use that money for the next time you go, and do platinum that time.

Ok, thought I knew it all but I guess I don't. What is the premium plan exactly??

This doesn't relate to the OP's problem at all. They shouldn't need to adjust to an indoor dive being cancelled. People do indoor dives because they are almost never cancelled. Plus, they won't be given any money back if this was a part of the platinum package nor will Disney feel an obligation to give them compensation for the cancellation. This really isn't a situation where finger wagging or "You should have known better" are appropriate.

The WAT isn't offered on the platinum plan, and they aren't offering as a substitute while all the Seas tours are down. :sad1:

The premium and platinum plans are packages that include tours, Cirque tickets, water sports, golf, fishing and other recreational activities, as well as dining. It's an extra charge per night, plus you have to pay rack-rate for your room. Through 2011, it was possible to book a one-night premium or platinum package and use the extras for most of two days (check in at 7:00 AM first day, have the benefits all that day and the next day of your check-out till midnight). Starting in 2012, you have to have a minimum of 3 nights to book at premium or platinum package.

We're doing a one-night premium stay next week. Between the start of our package the first morning and midnight the following night, we're doing the Segway tour, Keys to the Kingdom tour, lunch at Le Cellier, Candlelight Processional dinner, dinner at the Castle and La Nouba, and minigolf, all for one price.

Two of the available activities are diving experiences in The Seas, and for the OP and others, now that those experiences are not available, it may not be worth it for them to have the upgraded package.
