Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

I read "Oh, The Places You'll Go" to my 8th graders and then we had a party. One of the girls brought a cake with "We'll Miss You, Mrs. (My Last Name)" on it. I got all teary-eyed several times -- I have taught them for three years and I hate to see them go.

For some reason I didn't know (or remember) that you teach 8th grade. You have my utmost respect. I lost 4 hours of my life yesterday as a test proctor for the most unruly bunch of 8th graders (EOG's end today for middle school and school gets out June 10). No matter how many times the teacher tried to get those kids to be quiet before testing started, they just kept right on...totally ignored her. Explains the sour look she has on her face. Methinks she's ready for summer! LOL I was a test proctor for 3 days at Alison's school. I must be a glutton for punishment because I'm doing it for 4 days at Hannah's school! LOL It will be 3rd, 4th or 5th graders so I'm hoping they'll be a bit better behaved!

Your trip is getting so close! :cool1::cool1:

So, I know I said I wasn't going to fix my ticker even though it was a day off, but I couldn't take it any longer. I was tired of having to look at it and having to add a day in my mind. Poor Tink has been sent back to start.

:rotfl: It would have been buggin' me too, esp. since you had to ADD a day. Ugh.

Tink will fly REALLY fast now! :goodvibes If she's going to be on a different letter everyday, I would so be waking up going "today is I!", the next day "today is M!"

Oh no poor Tink!:scared1: Mine is off by a day as well BUT I refuse to move it! I have had that ticker since last August, and I can't bare to send it back!:sad2:

Mine, too. Middle school teachers are the bravest kind. At least in elementary school they still have a slight fear of teachers and parents. By middle school, some of them are 'so over' authority of any kind and do not listen to a teacher about much of anything.

The 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will probably be a little better behaved for you.

CP, good luck as you wind down things at school. I'm sure your kids had another great year of learning!

For teachers the last days of school drag, but for us moms with kids in school, the last days whiz!:rotfl:

 The last two days I was helping in the office (I didn't have students since they stayed in homeroom and played outside most of the time). I was amazed at the number of parents coming to check their children out of school -- two, three hours before the end of the day. I love my children, but I can assure you that if I was a stay at home mom, my children would be staying at school all day on the last couple of days so I could enjoy my last moments of quiet for the next nine weeks.

Hope your day is speeeeeeedy quick!

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday dragged by -- I think students and staff were ready for the end of it. ;)

Thanks -- I respect anybody who works with elementary age kids -- I know I couldn't do it. I have no tolerance for tears, tattling, or runny noses, so I would not enjoy teaching in the lower grades. Give me teen angst and attitude any day -- I know how to deal with all of that.

She is flying -- I am enjoying how quickly she is moving along those letters. Today she is in between a couple of letters!

It looks like we made through another day.......
Did you have a good one?

We got through it. Yesterday was pretty emotional for me. I think I have said before how much I adored this year's group of 8th graders. I have never cried at an awards ceremony, and yesterday morning when our principal had all of the 8th grade stand up so he could bid them farewell, I got pretty teary-eyed. I am getting pretty teary-eyed just typing about it again. I know they are going to wow the high school next year because they have wowed the middle school for three years. :goodvibes

Oh no poor Tink!:scared1: Mine is off by a day as well BUT I refuse to move it! I have had that ticker since last August, and I can't bare to send it back!:sad2:

I felt the same way, Diane, but Tink is moving so fast on my ticker now, that I am glad I redid it.

Happy last day of school with kids, CP!!:goodvibes

Thank you! We did have a good day -- aside from my tears as I hugged my 8th graders and their parents good-bye. :(

Woohoo!! Last day of school! Hope it's great! :yay:

Thank you! I always feel a sense of accomplishment that I made it through another school year.

I cannot believe how close your trip is now!

And yaaaay last day! I hope it's awesome!

Two weeks away!!!

Thank you! It was a little chaotic at times yesterday, but we made it through! :woohoo:

I don't know if middle school teachers are brave or just crazy! :rotfl: I truly adore teaching middle school though -- aside from a few dicey months in the 7th grade where most students go through some sort of monster stage, they are a lot of fun to be around.

Thank you, MeMom! Somehow 180 days flew by -- it went by really fast this year!

Congrats on being done with school CP!!

And can I just say, how crazy is it that this PTR has been going strong since the end of September, 8 whole months! You sure know how to draw a crowd! :rotfl: :thumbsup2

I'm so excited that after Jen and LL get back, you leave! It's like continous Disney virtual vacationing for a month!

I am planning on updating this weekend as soon as I figure out something fun to write about! Hope everyone enjoys their three-day weekends!

Congrats on being done with school CP!!

Thanks! I know, I am shocked that my PTR is still going strong! I never thought I would be able to fill it with 8 months worth of stuff!

I'm so excited that after Jen and LL get back, you leave! It's like continous Disney virtual vacationing for a month!

:rotfl: And then some since it will take us months to post all of the trip reports!

Time to get ready for your vacation!

Hurray!!! What a glorious feeling!

YAY for two more weeks!!!!

Thank you! I can't believe how fast it is flying now!

2 weeeeeeeks!!!!

I am so excited! Yesterday when I was reading your trip report, and you wrote about that feeling of walking into the Wilderness Lodge to check in for the first time, I was thinking, "Wow! I get to do that at Animal Kingdom Lodge in just two weeks!" I am so looking forward to walking through those doors and knowing it will be my home for the next week as opposed to just visiting for dinner like we normally do.

Congrats on the end of school!!

And thanks for all your hard work! :teacher: You deserve this vacation!

Kathy

Thank you! I have that overwhelmed feeling of not being sure where to start getting ready. I need to get the house cleaned and the laundry finished so that I can concentrate on what needs to be done for the trip!

Congrats on being done with school---now you can just sit back, relax, and get ready for that WONDERFUL trip to MICKEY'S HOUSE!!!

Just caught up ... This is just amazing that you are out of school! I am so so so waiting to be able to say the same!!! Still have a few more weeks. But we have finals and those last two weeks it's practically no school anyway, so it will zoom by, too. ANYWAY, I loved your comment about middle schoolers having a monster stage in 7th grade -- they have it in 10th grade too. :lmao: That made me LOL...

Looking forward to all your planning and updates coming along and Tink's letter hop to the final "E"

Thank you! It's funny because for so long I would think, "As soon as school is finished, I will really start getting ready for the trip." Well, now school is finished -- I can think about the trip for the next 12 days!!!

The last two weeks do fly by -- I know they did for us! I didn't realize the monster stage reappears in 10th grade -- I will have to remember that when my two are older.

I am definitely updating later today as soon as Chelsea and I do a little project we have planned. ;)
