Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

I must add I love your haircut, too. We switched to AKL, only because of a change in flight and Poly was no longer open. I am really excited about it, although I have never been to WDW so I have no idea what to expect. I am going to have to do some research. Hope AKL opens up for you...my TA said as the days get close that happens because people don't make the payments. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!

Hi Jackie...

I've been following along slowly, haven't posted much but I'm here.... love the haircute too very cute... I think no matter where you stay will be great! It's Disney afterall :)

I'm feeling soo much better these days and feeling very big! I'm as big now as I was when I was about to have Emma and I'm only 1/2 way there...
Not sure if I told you before but they are both boys....

Im glad you got to save so much money over the switch!! Have you considered the WL? I'm not sure if I like AKL or WL better they are both so nice!!

Sometimes it is so hard not to save all that money! I think you will love CBR! I hope the AKL comes through for you though, because it is AWESOME!!:thumbsup2

Love your haircut. How great that it not only looks fab but streamlines your morning routine! Now you have a few more minutes to DIS! ;)

$875 savings is GREAT! And I'm looking forward to hearing all about CBR!!

I am also interested in how this changes your ADR plans... do tell. I'm voting for a mid week update. ::yes::

Thank you! DIS time in the morning is very important. It is actually the first thing I do after I pour a cup of coffee.

CBR will be lots of fun...if AKL doesn't open up before March 29. ;)

I am going to update tonight or tomorrow about the ADR changes -- although you already know about one of the ones I am most excited about.

Another CBRer!! This is my first WDW resort stay so I can't compare - though I did walk through the Beach Club & it's gorgeous... the pictures that I've seen of CBR are gorgeous too. And $875 is well worth it to me. I hope AKL opens up for you, but if not, I think you'll be happy with CBR. :thumbsup2

And cute haircut!!

I am looking forward to spreading out a towel on a lounge chair at that main pool and just soaking in the atmosphere!

Thank you!

Cute haircut! Must have been a weekend for cuts, because I gave msyelf one on Saturday. :thumbsup2

I say change resorts all you want! As long as you're happy in the end. And I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that AKL becomes available - yes - I'm an enabler!! :rotfl:

Thank you! I have really fallen in love with the new hairstyle.

I like enablers. ::yes::

Your haircut looks fantastic! Does it naturally curl up on the ends like that, or did you do that? Either way, adorable! And versatile, you have lots of options. :goodvibes

You know I love CBR, and if you're happy there, I'm happy for you. That is a lot of money in this day and age, and I totally understand. It's one of the reasons amongst many that we're staying at Pop in September. It fits the budget. And with all the other things we need to / may need to do, it just makes sense. Good for you! :thumbsup2

It's naturally wavy -- if I put gel in it and scrunge it (is that spelled right?), you can really tell.

I feel much better about the switch -- I always worry that our tax refund won't be quite enough and now I know it should be.

I bet the kids will love the new pool! I'm hoping to go over there to visit in March, since the two times I've been it's been raining and/or dark, so I've never gotten good pictures. Since we'll be right around the corner at Pop, I thought we'd get up and go eat breakfast there one of the mornings. I'd like to see the new pool. So, if we get there in March, then I'll come back with some pictures to help get you excited about it!

Okay! ::yes:: The food court looks really neat with its outdoor marketplace theme.

I will have you know that you altering your plans also alters mine. We were going to go out the back gate on our Epcot day to eat at Beaches and Cream and get some Beach Club pictures for you, but now I guess I can scratch that. Now that I have that little bit of extra time, I think we'll get some of that awesome chicken in Sunshine Seasons.

MeMom, you crack me up! :goodvibes At least I gave you some notice, right? I am planning on eating at Sunshine Seasons on one of our Epcot days -- have you ever done breakfast there?

I've already got you covered if you change to AKL, because we already have it on the list to go over there.
You won't disrupt any of my plans if you change to that, so plan away!!! :) ;) :goodvibes :upsidedow

Even if AKL doesn't open up (which I really hope it does), we are headed over there -- another reason I am happy about the switch.

I think your hair looks cute!!

Thank you! It's so nice to have a hairstyle and not the usual ponytail.

I love your new hair cut. I am glad that you are happy with your new resort. I am hoping that a room at AK opens up for you.

Thank you! I hope so, too -- I have checking the site down to a routine -- three times a day -- once in the morning, once at lunchtime, and once in the evening. Don't want to miss a room if it opens up!

Cute haircut! I cut my long hair to my shoulders about 5-6 months ago. I like it a lot and it is soooo much easier to take care of. I've been slowly growing it back out. i think I want it longer for a while.. it suits me better. but the change was good while it lasted. Now I'm in the "inbetween" stage where it feels like my hair isn't growing.. just passed my shoulders. Also, congrats on saving money! It's always good to save money when you didn't expect it! When we booked we were looking at moderate and decided to just go value and save even more money. We felt better about it. Plus, I like more spending money!! hehe;)

Thank you! Mine was past my shoulders and since it is really thick, it was such a pain to wash, dry, and style. It's so much better now.

You'll love your resort!

Hey Jackie, Love the haircut...you look fabulous!!

Secondly, I think you made a great decision..if you are going to go big you need to go big with all your heart so its AKL or bust!! CBR sounds like it will be a great match for your family and you can do a lot with that savings!!!!

Can't wait to hear more...hope you are having a good day at work!! Another slow day here, we are doing worksheets to finish up our unit...tomorrow is lecture day!!!

Thank you!

I just know that Chelsea and Connor will love that tropical Caribbean theme. I can just see the photos I will be able to take of them now!

For some reason my students have been CRAZY this week, but I think it is because we have changed the schedule on them. Hopefully things will calm down soon. :crazy2:

I agree with the other posters, Jackie - you look great!! I have shorter hair too and it's SO easy to take care of! :thumbsup2

And congrats on saving some $$! That's awesome - and now you have more money that you can spend on fun stuff at the World. :cheer2:

Have a good one!
Katie

Thank you! I think I am going to keep it short for awhile.

Yes, my souvenir wish list will probably grow in direct proportion to how much money we saved on the room. :rotfl:

:goodvibes Your hair is so cute!

Thank you! Tomorrow I am going to use the rhinestone clips that I bought.

I did the same thing when we went. It isn't too bad over the bridge to the main building, just make sure to request specific buildings. I ended up in Jamaica but in the FURTHEST building possible. We got lost EVERY time coming off the buses and DH had to take the bus to a whole different stop to get us drink refills.

Sounds like I need to add certain building numbers onto my request the next time I call. I don't want to be too far away.

Hi Jackie,
I just read your 2008 TR (well most of it, 191 pages wow!). I laughed all day long (please don't tell my boss). Connor is a hoot and reminds me of my own Omicron.

I can't believe that you read it all in one day, but so pleased that you got such a kick out of it. We always have such a great time when we head to WDW! Connor keeps us in stitches with the things he thinks up!

I had been thinking of Boma's and the Tusker house Breakfast and after reading your TR I def want to do both.

They are two of my favorite meals EVER there! There are lots of nights where I wish we could just head out to dinner at Boma.

I see you scrapbook too! My mom and I are going to a CM scrapbook retreat this weekend so hopefully I will finish my October 2008 Disney book.

Oh, Creative Memories has some great Disney stuff! You will have so much fun on your retreat! Do you have an Archiver's near you? That's my favorite place to find paper and embellishments!

I think we are only an hour and a half away. I am just over the state line on I-20. I took my Chi to the same American Girl store in Northpointe Mall that you mentioned.

Sorry for the random babbling. I need to get some work done before I head home :rotfl2:

I bet we are pretty close! I thought Chelsea might be too old for American Girl, but she even asked for it for Christmas -- she got some more stuff for Julie.

Babble anytime -- I love it!

Awesome about saving all that money, and I'm glad that CBR is something that everyone agrees on. :goodvibes But, I hope that a room at AKL will open up. That, and WL, are two that I would love to stay at someday.

Your hair looks so cute!

I like Wilderness Lodge, but I always think I would love to stay there at Christmas.

Thank you!

I think you made the right decision, absolutely. I looked at CBR a couple times before I booked out June trip and even after. Alas, I am not a resort-hopper yet! But I have told DH I want to go and see it, so next trip we can consider CBR, especially the pirate rooms. Great savings, makes good sense for so many reasons, as everyone has said, and why do a deluxe that isn't exactly the one you want? ::yes:: Ditto on the hair! Great teacher style. :thumbsup2 If you can swing a mid-week update, we'd love to hear :)
If AKL comes up then you'll have a hard decision, but at least it will be one you want to make! ;)

Thanks! :thumbsup2 Of course my students have been commenting on my new hair for the past two days -- it seems to be the universal opinion among the middle schoolers that it looks good. :rotfl:

If AKL comes open, I will be all over it and the resort hopping will cease and desist. ;)

WOW, great haircut!! You look so cute! :flower3:

I think you also made the right decision switching resorts, saving $875 to stay at some place JUST AS COOL as BC is definitely a good idea. I'm sure the kids will love the pirate pool and you guys will be just as happy in CBR as you would in BC. :goodvibes

Thank you!

I am already planning on sampling some of those poolside drinks from the Banana Cabana!

Wow! A new doo and resort change? I hope AK opens up so you can get what your really want but I'm sure your family will have fun where ever you stay........ and it is Disney so what's not to love? :confused3
I must confess that I'm a little bummed that we won't be running into you at the beach club though. :sad2:

Did you manage to get your hair tamed this morning? I have a standing date with my flat iron every morning! I got my hair cut off a couple of weeks ago and love ease and speed of getting ready for school.:hourglass

Hopefully we will run into each other in the parks!!!

I have borrowed Chelsea's flat iron a couple of times -- she keeps fussing at me when she comes to reclaim it. :rotfl:

I love your hair!

You know what is best for you and your family. I'm still keeping my finger crossed for AKL for you, but I think you'll like CBR.

Thank you!

Fingers and toes crossed for AKL, please! Your pictures of CBR were so lovely -- they helped me decide we would like it there!

Look at you with your new doo!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!! It looks so awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You look so purty!!!!!!

Ahhh, thanks, Heather! :goodvibes

I must add I love your haircut, too. We switched to AKL, only because of a change in flight and Poly was no longer open. You will adore AKL -- really and truly -- you'll forget you are in south Florida when you are there! I am hoping someone decides to switch resorts from AKL to something else, thus freeing up the perfect room for us!

Hi, Annette! I am so glad that you are doing well -- I think about you lots! Boys!!! That's awesome! One of my friends from high school just found out his wife was having twin boys -- they have two little girls -- I tease him about the odds being evened out at their house now!

Im glad you got to save so much money over the switch!! Have you considered the WL? I'm not sure if I like AKL or WL better they are both so nice!!

Nothing at Wilderness Lodge, either. :(

Sometimes it is so hard not to save all that money! I think you will love CBR! I hope the AKL comes through for you though, because it is AWESOME!!:thumbsup2

AKL is definitely my heart's desire when it comes to WDW resorts, but I keep telling myself that if it doesn't open up that will mean another must-do trip for us.

Hey CP, I just realized I'd missed your update. Even though I'd known the news already. But I wanted to make an appearance over here. That's a big savings and I think you should feel good about it! Besides- there's always long weekends with no kids in the future for places like Beach Club.

And again, adorable haircut! It makes me giggle though, cuz you look way like Chels w/it! :laughing"

Thanks for making an appearance, Julez :rotfl: ! Stick around -- I am about to update my ADR wish list. ::yes::

You would be amazed at how often people tell Chelsea and me that we look alike -- I don't see it (I think she is prettier), but lots of others must. :goodvibes

Leaving behind the Beach Club, I found myself with four table service credits that needed to be rethought. We could have kept some of the Beach Club restaurants, but sometimes tearing ourselves away from the parks to head to a resort is too hard. Charles and I decided to just come up with four new uses of our table service credits. Here is our new list:

Sunday: Breakfast at Tusker House. I haven't quite decided if I am going to make it for before park opening or not. Sometimes trying to get to the park early stresses me out, but being there before anyone else is awfully nice. I am playing around with the idea of a late breakfast that morning.

Monday: Rose and Crown still.

Tuesday: This is one of two that I am really excited about. This is our DHS day, so I said to Charles yesterday morning, "We need to pick a DHS meal. It can be Sci-Fi or Prime Time." He said, "Are those my only choices?" To which I replied nonchalantly, "Well, there is Brown Derby. It's two table credits." Charles, darling husband (at least at that moment ;) ) that he is said those oh-so-magical words, "Let's do that one then. It can take the place of Yachtsman." OKAY! Later that day I was reading the menu off to everyone and when I was reading the kids' menu I read off the entree Meaty Macaroni. Chelsea piped up, "That's Hamburger Helper in the real world, Connor." Charles and I about died laughing. I would hazard to guess that Meaty Macaroni is far better than Hamburger Helper. :rotfl: I can almost taste the grapefruit cake. Mmmmmm.

Wednesday: Still Crystal Palace for breakfast.

Thursday: This is my other source of excitement. Charles and I want to try the AKV's new restaurant, Sanaa. Here's my confession: I like words with long drawn out A sounds like "maharajah" -- I find them so fun to say. It's really fun to say Sanaa -- swahili for "artwork" -- according to allears it is pronounced sah-NAH with the emphasis on the second syllable. Try it. You will find yourself saying it at odd moments in your day just because it's fun -- well, maybe that's just me -- but it sure breaks up the monotony of unloading the dishwasher to just randomly blurt out, "sah-NAH" especially if you put in a flip of the hair and a lot of teeth. :rotfl: Anyway, the description says it is African and Indian influenced food. Yum! Our back-up if the restaurant gets horrible reviews is our very favorite, Boma.

Friday: Teppan Edo still.

So, those are our changes: Tusker House for sure, Brown Derby (grapefruit cake, grapefruit cake), and Sanaa (sah-NAH).

Great changes Jackie! I too have been thinking about ditching another ressie for Sanaa!:thumbsup2 It would be a great chance to check out Kidani:goodvibes

Wow those ADRs look amazing!! I love the Brown Derby and you will really really love it!! Of course you know you'll love it!!!!

You'll have to let us know about the new restaurant...give it its first reviews here on the DIS!!!

A wonderful Update Jackie!! I love talking Disney food!!! Can't wait to hear more!!!

LOVE your changes. Brown Derby is :cloud9: Wonder how they'll feel about hearing they serve hamburger helper? :rotfl2:

And so intrigued by the new restaurant at AKL... lots of pictures, please!

Reading your ADR list, I can really see that you guys have a sophisticated pallette.

I'm scared of all that flavor! You are def. southern, girl!

I am so very happy you are going to try Brown Derby!! You are going to love it, I just know it. I think you have a great choice of ADR's there! :thumbsup2

Great changes Jackie! I too have been thinking about ditching another ressie for Sanaa!:thumbsup2 It would be a great chance to check out Kidani:goodvibes

That's what I was thinking about Kidani. Because you know, Diane, it is only going to take a small nudge to send me into the arms of DVC. :rotfl:

Plus, Kidani will have a new gift shop -- if it is as good as Zawadi, I will be in heaven!

I love talking Disney food, too! Can't get enough of it!

I am so excited about Brown Derby! I remember walking by there when I was in high school and with my parents, and wishing we could go eat there. Those were in the days when Hollywood and Vine was a normal sit-down with the most delicious ice cream sundaes!

LOVE your changes. Brown Derby is :cloud9: Wonder how they'll feel about hearing they serve hamburger helper? :rotfl2:

And so intrigued by the new restaurant at AKL... lots of pictures, please!

We are probably going to burst out laughing when we see Meaty Macaroni on the actual menu while we are sitting there.

I will take lots of photos of Sanaa with my new digital camera! :thumbsup2

Reading your ADR list, I can really see that you guys have a sophisticated pallette.

I'm scared of all that flavor! You are def. southern, girl!

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: We like to pretend we have sophisticated pallettes, but we really don't -- you should have heard us with the Brown Derby menu, "Well, you could order that without the tomatoes..." and "Well, you could ask for it without the cremini mushrooms..."

Now, as for Tusker House -- I can't wait to get another heaping portion of pap with cheese (African grits) so I guess I am pretty southern. :goodvibes

I am like a little kid with Christmas approaching everytime I think of Brown Derby. I can't wait!!! :hyper:
I think you will really enjoy it. All of the Disney resturaunts seems so accomadating with special requests too, so I am sure they will let you take off the tomatoes and what have you. :thumbsup2

You crack me up Jackie. :rotfl: But, I soooo get the fun with words. :thumbsup2 I didn't know there was a new restaurant! You've taught me something new today. :goodvibes
