Dump cakes are great for when you need something quick, cheap, warm, and good!

Thank you for all my lovely birthday wishes! It was a great day, and even my students behaved.

It's a yellow cake with mandarin oranges in it. Do a search and you'll find the recipe. It's one that I was introduced to by Barbara Mandrell at something we did at school a long time ago. It's a good holiday time cake - something a little different.

Also, I forgot these cakes: hummingbird, lemon, dump, coffee, pound, spice, lemon....

I might have baked a cake or two in my life.

My DD8 shares your DS's love of Pokemon. Her fondest memory of Epcot was the store in Japan where she spent a fortune on plushie Pokemon. She would have never left if I didn't drag her out....

! I am so glad you came over! Did the discount work for your dates? We are on cloud nine because of being able to book Beach Club for the CBR price!!! We are very, very excited! Connor loves the Japanese store -- it always creeps into our conversations when we talk about what everyone wants to do at Disney.

I told my mom about the great deal today.... it is killing me to know we cannot go, but with a new house, baby and working half day there is no way I can rationalize a trip to WDW. I did get an email from a friend today though who wants to take her little boy who is Emily's age this spring... so at least I think I have a trip to plan! Plus I am thrilled they can take advantage probably too of the deal.

We love our resort pools so I know Stormalong will become a favorite!

I wish you could go soon, but when you do get to go back you will be able to make it an absolutely fantastic trip!

Most of you know already about the resort switch, but I wanted to give you the story behind the story.

In what can only be explained as a sigh of relief and a jubilant dance, the resort dilemma has been resolved.

All thanks to Disney World and their amazing discount.

To go back in time a little, let me recap. When last I wrote, we were currently booked at the Wilderness Lodge. However, the trip binder did have different outfits for Caribbean Beach Resort and Animal Kingdom Lodge. Just in case…

On November 4, I called to make a payment (birthday money that needed to be put to good use) and in a fit of feeling financially responsible, changed back to the Caribbean Beach Resort in a preferred room. I figured it was best to have the one we were sure about, and then, later if we wanted to and were sure we could afford it, we could upgrade.

On the morning of November 6, I read about the possibility of a huge discount being released at 5:00pm. One of the rumors was that it would be a seven nights for the price of four type deal. Really? I quickly told Charles and told him I would run numbers during the day, so that we had a game plan at 5:00. He looked at me with THAT look – you know the look that is full of pity.

I did indeed run numbers. I ran numbers for Caribbean Beach Resort, Animal Kingdom Lodge standard view, Animal Kingdom Lodge pool view bunk beds, Animal Kingdom Lodge savannah view bunk beds, Beach Club standard view, Boardwalk Inn standard view, Contemporary Resort Bay Lake view, Polynesian garden, and Grand Floridian garden.

They were all great deals. So great in fact that I began to wonder if it would not end up being the discount, and it would be something less exciting. I did decide that we should go with one that would be the same or cheaper than our existing reservation. That took Contemporary, Poly, and the Grand out of the equation (but not by much in case anyone is interested).

Charles called me as I was driving home from work:

Charles: So did you run numbers?
Me: Yep.
Charles: And?
Me: Well, if it is the discount we could do…(then I listed all the choices).
Charles: Wow!
Me: So, where do you think we should stay?
Charles: Beach Club or Boardwalk.
Me: Why?

And on and on this went, all the way home. Bottom line was that Charles felt we should go big – as in staying at the Boardwalk or the Beach Club because it would be the same price as the Caribbean Beach Resort. His exact words, I believe, were, “We would kick ourselves if we didn’t stay there when we had the chance.”

The refurbed rooms at the Beach Club convinced Charles even more that he wanted to stay there.

At 5:00 as Mousesavers and the main Disney website posted the discount, I was calling. I got through almost immediately, but halfway through the conversation, just as the CM was putting in that I wanted the dining plan, we were disconnected! I screamed and almost cried in frustration. 45 minutes later I got through to another live person and was convinced that my standard view room at the Beach Club would be gone. The previous CM was so wonderful that she had finished up my reservation! Disney magic at its best!

So, now we are staying at the Beach Club for $6 less than what we would pay at Caribbean Beach Resort. We are very excited to say the least, and the trip binder is looking forward to her makeover this weekend.

We are finished with resort flipping – I don’t want to give up my great discount or the prospect of eating ice cream at Stormalong Bay. So, Beach Club it is and no more resort drama.

Is that a huge collective sigh of relief, I hear?
