Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

We did weather the storms -- I was at my SIL's in her basement -- it was scary for quite awhile with the sirens going off every twenty minutes and that nasty line of storms one right after the other. I am exhausted now! Hope you weathered them okay, too!

Oh no! I feel like I jinxed you with our talk about tornadoes and sirens! :scared1: Glad you're okay.

We spent some time listening to sirens in Alabama, too, but the tornadoes never made it our way, thank heavens. I was thinking what it was going to be like sitting in the hallway with a two year old, a newborn, and Jill in the shape she's been in. It would have been not so much fun! I hope all of our other Dis friends made it through all the bad weather, as well.

Hope you guys have a fun weekend ahead!

We don't have cable so no TV for us. Thankfully there were no tornados in our area our we'd probably have been flattened! We did have some pretty heavy thunderstorms last night. Glad everyone else is OK after those crazy storms last night.

Oh, no, you didn't jinx us -- spring is always a bit hair-raising where storms are concerned here in Dixie Alley!

Thank heavens you didn't have to do the hallway thing! That would have been horrible!

It looked like all the storms were headed towards North and South Carolina last night -- I am glad they lost a lot of their power before they reached you!

This week has been our spring break from school. We decided to just hang around close to home and do various things.

Monday: we made tip cards and a countdown calendar.

Tuesday: I tackled Connor's room. I should have taken a before shot but it was so horrible that I just couldn't. Suffice it to say that some mornings I had to forge a path to get to the dresser because of all the toys on the floor. We got rid of a lot of stuff -- some for Goodwill and some into the trash. We also made peanut butter cookies afterwards.

Wednesday: We headed to my MIL's to dye eggs. She was all ready for us.

Chelsea and Connor work on their eggs.

Connor made a Tie Fighter egg from the Star Wars kit I bought.

I was excited to shrink wrap Han Solo onto an egg.

Connor was excited about his Darth Vader egg.

Thursday: We went to my parents' house for lunch. My mom had decided to do an April in Paris theme with chicken salad on croissants and sparkling white grape juice.

After lunch Taffy, my parents' Siamese, wanted to visit the Eiffel Tower.

Friday: Not quite as much fun. We had some pretty nasty storms come through. The National Weather Service labeled our area as being in a Potentially Dangerous Situation (PDS) which our local meterologist said had never happened in the Atlanta area before. We headed to my SIL's since she has a basement. It was a very scary few hours. The tornado sirens kept going off -- about five times -- and the storms just kept tracking through our county. Before we headed to the basement for about four hours, my SIL had to take some pictures of what was headed for us.

Tomorrow the Easter Bunny will come, and we will have brunch!

When we go back to school on Monday, we will only have six more weeks of school. Yippee!

Your week looked like a lot of fun. I love that your Mom themed lunch! I so cannot believe that you only have 6 weeks left of school.....where has this year gone to?

It looks like you had a great week and you got some really fun things done! The tip envelopes are so cool!:thumbsup2 I like your countdown calendar and need to get one started myself, I already have the Mickey heads from Home Depot so I have no excuses....:sad2:
Easter egg dying looked fun and the lunch at your Moms house was just awesome, (very creative and thoughtful):goodvibes! Making family memories are just the best thing ever!!:cloud9:

Those were some nasty clouds you had last night, just like ours, but we live in Tornado Alley. Baylor watches the weather channel and gathers the animals regularly to head to the basement. We on the other hand don't get to excited unless we see a funnel cloud in the backyard...
:confused3

I'm glad you all stayed safe!

Jackie, despite the storms you had a very productive Spring Break!

I adore your tip envelopes! So cute and I love that you printed them to fit the ADR.

Your countdown calendar is very cute! How many more Mondays for you?

I had to smile at Connor's room, such a boy room. Hehehe. :goodvibes

The Paris lunch looks like so much fun! Chicken Salad on croissants is a very good idea to spice up a sandwich, I am going to have to remember that.

Those storms look so scary! I'm glad you made it through them.

Thanks for sharing your spring break with us. Love the Star Wars kit... and scary weather- yikes! I am truly terrified of tornadoes....

Our calendars are very similar!

Hey Jackie!!

I see that your whole family is very creative, it is not just you!

Have fun and know I think of you all often, just reading up....

You kids are beautiful and getting so big.

I amlistening to XMpops and something is on right now that belongs on Main St!

Lori

What a great spring break update! :goodvibes

I also adore your tip cards. I've never done them. I think I may have to get crafty for this trip. :upsidedow

Connor's room looks great! As do those peanut butter cookies!!

LOVE the star wars eggs! Especially the fighter egg and the Han Solo egg. Han Solo = :lovestruc

April in Paris. I'll say again... can I be adopted?? :goodvibes Your mom did such a nice job. And chicken salad on a croissant is one of my favorites. Chelsea looks very Parisian in her striped shirt and even Connor is getting into the fancy occasion dining with his pinky finger in the air!

The storms I love not so much. Ugh. Sorry you had to deal with that! I'm glad you have family nearby who you can wait it out with and a basement you can go to!

Forgot to mention that the countdown calendar looks great. Six more weeks of school?! You're practically in the home stretch, my friend!! :goodvibes

Sounds like a pretty good Spring Break. We only got Friday off here (but to be fair, we did get a week off in mid-March ;) ). Those Star Wars eggs are cool. And Chelsea's egg is purdy. :cutie:

Love the tip envelopes. Goodness, its getting so close to your trip!!!!! Doesn't making ADR's and a countdown make it seem so much closer?

Scary about the tornado warnings. Never been through one of those before and I have no wish to. The worst thing out here is a drought, which we've been going through for years now (actually, some weird wet stuff is falling from the sky today. :rotfl: )

Have a wonderful Easter!

Looks like you've had a very nice spring break.:thumbsup2

Great job with Connor's room. Doesn't it feel good to purge?

The Parisian luch looks so festive. I LOVE the hyacinths in the silver bucket. Hyacinths=Spring:goodvibes

And Chelsea is making Madeline's very favorite "peace out" pose!:rotfl2: So cute!

How do you use the tip cards? Do you clip the tip to the card or put both in an envelope? They and the calendar came out really well.:)

Wow what a great week you guys had! I really like the Paris lunch, what a cute idea! :cutie:

Sorry to hear about the nasty weather that came through your way. Glad that everythings still intact by you and everyone is alright and in one piece!

Your week looked like a lot of fun. I love that your Mom themed lunch! I so cannot believe that you only have 6 weeks left of school.....where has this year gone to?

Yes, my mom loves theming things! Can you believe how quickly this year has flown by??? Before you know it, you are going to have a sweet, baby princess!

It looks like you had a great week and you got some really fun things done! The tip envelopes are so cool!:thumbsup2 I like your countdown calendar and need to get one started myself, I already have the Mickey heads from Home Depot so I have no excuses....:sad2:

I'm glad you all stayed safe!

Thank you! Yes, we have had a fun week!

I am a bit of a freak when it comes to severe weather -- the predictions had been very dire throughout Friday, so we knew it was going to be pretty bad. I wish I had some of your sang froid when it comes to storms -- I am like Baylor though -- headed to a safe place at the first sign of nastiness! :sad2:

Yes, the storms were the only bad part of the break! Thanks for all the compliments -- I found the ADRs on donatalie's site/thread. Eight more Mondays for me!

Connor definitely has a "boy" room. He told me that he wants to paint the walls and get a new comforter soon -- it is time to update it.

The chicken salad on croissants was delicious!

The storms were very scary!

:rotfl:

Your mom is so cool!! :goodvibes

Those clouds are scary! :scared1:

Love the countdown calendar. :thumbsup2

My mom is very cool! ;) I couldn't believe those storm clouds -- I have never seen anything that looked quite like that! What was even wilder is how you could see all the other clouds getting sucked into the bigger one -- it was like something out of a horror movie.

I can't wait to start putting the stickers on the countdown!

Thanks for sharing your spring break with us. Love the Star Wars kit... and scary weather- yikes! I am truly terrified of tornadoes....

Our calendars are very similar!

I am truly terrified of tornadoes, too! Describing myself as a nervous wreck doesn't even come close to what a basket case I was on the inside.

Looking forward to seeing your countdown calendar!

Hi, Lori!!! How wonderful to hear from you!!! How have you been? How are the girls?

Can you believe how much Chelsea and Connor have grown in the past year? It's craziness, I tell you!

What a great spring break update! :goodvibes

I also adore your tip cards. I've never done them. I think I may have to get crafty for this trip. :upsidedow

Thanks! They are very easy to make!

Connor's room looks great! As do those peanut butter cookies!!

LOVE the star wars eggs! Especially the fighter egg and the Han Solo egg. Han Solo = :lovestruc

Thanks! The cookies were very yummy!

Aren't the Han Solo and Tie Fighter eggs a scream? Connor and I were cracking ourselves up with them!

Yes, we will gladly adopt you! I think that was Chelsea's idea of a Parisian outfit. Connor was so funny beforehand -- as we were headed over there he said, "I hope the food isn't too French. They eat things like slugs." Snails, slugs -- it's all the same in the mind of a nine-year-old boy!

The storms I love not so much. Ugh. Sorry you had to deal with that! I'm glad you have family nearby who you can wait it out with and a basement you can go to!

I wasn't feeling the love of those storms either ;). Hopefully my SIL doesn't get sick of me descending on her. Charles just stayed here, but I would have been scared out of my mind staying in our house since it doesn't have a basement.

Forgot to mention that the countdown calendar looks great. Six more weeks of school?! You're practically in the home stretch, my friend!! :goodvibes

Thanks! Yes, only six more weeks of school -- once our big testing week is over, we will really and truly be in the homestretch!

Thanks for all the compliments! The time before the trip is speeding by -- I have got to get my act together with trip preparations!

Count yourself lucky with never having to deal with tornadoes -- they are terrifying!

Happy Easter!

Looks like you've had a very nice spring break.:thumbsup2

Great job with Connor's room. Doesn't it feel good to purge?

It felt so good to get rid of tons of stuff -- I need to make more of an effort to do it on a regular basis!

The Parisian luch looks so festive. I LOVE the hyacinths in the silver bucket. Hyacinths=Spring:goodvibes

Aren't those pretty? My mom outdid herself.

And Chelsea is making Madeline's very favorite "peace out" pose!:rotfl2: So cute!

Must be a pre-teen girl thing! :rotfl:

How do you use the tip cards? Do you clip the tip to the card or put both in an envelope? They and the calendar came out really well.:)

Thanks! The tip cards are just on cardstock so I figure we will leave it with the money at the table at the end of the meal.

Wow what a great week you guys had! I really like the Paris lunch, what a cute idea! :cutie:

Sorry to hear about the nasty weather that came through your way. Glad that everythings still intact by you and everyone is alright and in one piece!

Thank you! We did have a great week, but it just flew by -- I can't believe it is almost over and we will be back to our normal school routine tomorrow!

We are very thankful nothing was damaged and that everyone was okay after the storms got finished beating up our county.

Um, although I do love hyacinths, those are hydrangeas. Don't know where my mind was yesterday.

Happy Easter!

I didn't even know the difference! I am the kind of person who just says, "Oh, look at the pretty flowers!" :rotfl: I never would have known that you were mistaken. :rotfl:
