Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

Agghhhh, I cannot believe that you can't log onto the DIS from home! :scared1: I think I would have a full-scale panic attack if that happened. I think I would be so distraught that I would be unable to do anything except curl up in a fetal position.

Guess what?! It was horrible! And he DID block it! But ha! I outsmarted him. I unblocked it!

But I guess I do have to spend less time on the boards.....

Don't worry. In turn, I blocked one of this faves.

Peruse? From time to time? :snooty:
Where's the loyalty? The pride?

P.S. I totally understand.

:rotfl: Well, you know, I work in a middle school -- there is a latent fear of appearing different that permeates the hallways. ;)

Besides, I don't want to reveal my alter ego of Charleston Princess to just anyone. :lmao:

:lmao: The last couple of pages were hilarious! I like Gidget for a name, too. ;)

Also...I read your June TR, finally, and I was cracking up at your hubby's Benadryll incident. I felt bad laughing, but I can kind of relate to you. My dad used to (sometimes still does, when he travels), take the sleep aid Ambien, and one of the side effects is eating or drinking or doing other things when not fully awake. He has experienced that side effect, and I've witnessed it, but he has no recollection. I was told to start compiling "Ambien stories." :rotfl:

And the "don't pull a Toy Story Mania" is something that we would say to each other, too. :rotfl2: We have a handful of similar sayings.

We are still laughing about the Benedryll incident, so don't feel bad at all. Charles used to take Ambien so I know exactly what you are talking about! We have those stories, too.

Connor is an expert at "pulling a Toy Story Mania" -- he still hasn't figured out that he hurts no one but himself.

He blocked it? Seriously? That's so wrong! I love that you blocked one of his in retaliation!

I wouldn't even know how to do that. :confused3

Me neither. I feel all empowered just being able to multi-quote.

Google is good. ::yes::

Really? You just figured it out by doing a search? You're good! :thumbsup2

All caught up!

Gidget/Gidge is perfect!!! :goodvibes

You peruse the DIS from time to time? :lmao: That is a good one! But I would probably say the same thing if "caught." And I don't know what I'd do if my 2xcited2sleep alter ego was revealed at work! :scared1:

Julez-- can't believe your hubby blocked the DIS!!!! Love that you outsmarted him on it though.

So 12/22 is the big ADR day. Maybe most "normal" people ;) will be too busy with holiday prep and you'll get right through!

CP---So LOVE "Gidget!" I must admit that when I was a child, they used to show the Gidget shows during the summer right after the morning cartoons, and I watched them all!!!! Loved Sally Field as Gidget---just so much fun!!! SO on behalf of your lovely new "Gidget," a SONG:

If you're in doubt about angels being real.
I can arrange to change any doubts you feel.
Wait'll you see my Gidget!
You'll want her for your Valentine.
You're gonna say she's all that you adore
But stay away, Gidet is spoken for
You're gonna find that Gidget is mine!

That lovely tune is the theme song from that great one-season show......and if you don't know it by heart like me, you can listen to it here:

You kind of remind me of a Gidget, Jackie! You're so cute and petite, it's fitting!

You and me both! I was thinking today that seven months from now (June 13), we will be headed home. Seven months seems kind of a long way away.

It doesn't seem like it now, but it will go by so quickly! I can't believe we're already half-way through November!

By the by, love that little miss trip binder has a name! You all were too funny on this thread for the past couple of days! Thanks for making me smile! :goodvibes

Gidget is practically perfect in every way........or was that Mary Poppins? No matter, I love the name! :beach:

Man, I don't miss that!

CP, I figure out everything by doing a search! Hey- that's how I was led to the DIS after all!:thumbsup2

I so wish that my students believed me when I tell them that one day they will realize it's okay to be different.

That's true -- I found the DIS by searching, too. :thumbsup2

All caught up!

Thanks!

Yes, my co-workers like to kid me about my obsession, but I don't think they realize just how deep it really runs.

Yep, 12/22 is the big day -- I will be calling right at 7:00 with my list of ADRs and times that I want -- I just hope it doesn't get pushed back again -- it has been about three or four times now.

Love it! I loved the old Gidget movies, especially the first one with Sandra Dee -- too cute!

Now I have a song to sing to my Gidge!

You kind of remind me of a Gidget, Jackie! You're so cute and petite, it's fitting!

Ahhh, thank you, Lara! That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me all weekend!

It doesn't seem like it now, but it will go by so quickly! I can't believe we're already half-way through November!

It will go by quickly until we hit January -- then it will crawl -- then February will be a little better because it is shorter and there is Valentine's Day -- then soccer season will hit so it will speed up again, slow down after Easter until mid-May, then speed up again with all the craziness of the end of the school year. Can you tell I have done these June trips before?

Glad we could make you smile -- we aim to please all of our readers. :lmao:

Gidget is practically perfect in every way........or was that Mary Poppins? No matter, I love the name! :beach:

Thank you! I am trying to decide what Gidget and I will be doing with the rest of our afternoon -- we feel the need to do something Disney-related. ;)

SO. Far. Behind. :rotfl2: CONGRATULATIONS on quitting smoking! That is awesome! So cool that you switched to the Beach Club!! I loved all the Halloween /Fall pictures!:thumbsup2

Charles celebrated his 39th birthday yesterday, so I have decided to mark the occasion in my own unique PTR way by writing about his evolution into a Disney fan (although I am sure he would still deny it).

We met in 1993 and two years later began talking about marriage. Well, it suddenly dawned on me that perhaps we should do a trial run to my favorite place to make sure that we were compatible.

I don’t actually remember all that much from the trip except for a few things. It was August, it was hot, and we stayed at the Polynesian. I remember Charles complaining A LOT. We ate at Mama Melrose’s. I don’t think Charles enjoyed the trip one bit. I forgave him, and we got married.

Three years later in April of 1998 we went with my parents, my brother, and Chelsea who was nine months old at the time. Charles wasn’t thrilled on that trip either. He left halfway through World Showcase and went back to the hotel room. He left after half a day at Disney-MGM, and I rode the Tower of Terror for the first and only time with my brother. Charles has still not forgotten that I rode it without him.

Here we are with just Chelsea:

In December of 2004 (yes, there was a long Disney Drought in our lives) we headed back to the world with his mother, her boyfriend, his sister, her husband, their two kids, and our two kids. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and toured commando-style. This was the trip where I cried putting my tennis shoes on in the morning because my feet were so sore. Charles left halfway through World Showcase again. He refused to do Magic Kingdom on our last day. The love for Disney was sadly lacking in his life.

He did ride the Tower of Terror on that trip with his sister, her son, Chelsea and Connor. I did not.

In March of 2007 I decided it was time to return to the World with just us four. I woke Charles up and asked if I could book a Disney trip. In his sleep-deprived state he gave in. We had a great time, but he still maintained that he couldn’t really stand Disney World. He claimed that while he had a good time, it was only because the rest of us had such a great time. He did discover a new love on that trip. Her name was Boma.

In October of 2007, I “convinced” him – I thought I was convincing, now I think he was just playing hard to get – to go back for our anniversary and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Upon entering the Magic Kingdom Charles said, “Let’s get our picture in front of the castle. We don’t have any pictures of all of us in front of the castle.” Was the façade cracking?

Our first castle photo as a family:

Those of you that have been around for awhile remember the famous “Let’s go to Disney World for Spring Break, 2008.” I was sick and in a joking way said, “I might feel better if we went to Disney over Spring Break.” Charles very quickly said, “Okay.” Was Anti-Disney Man evolving into something else entirely???

Crush n’ Gusher:

Then there was June, 2008 – with an extra day thrown into the mix. Was the cracking façade becoming a fault line?

We returned from our summer trip, and for all intents and purposes, I think Charles has morphed into something else entirely. Here are some examples (I have been keeping mental notes):

1.When we talked about an October trip he said to me, “Can we stay at the Contemporary in a Magic Kingdom view room?” I picked my jaw off the floor after that one.

2.Charles insisted I book our June 2009 package the day the packages were released because “it would be bad luck not to.” Who are you???

3.We got a glossy brochure from the new Bay Lake Towers – he whined all night about wanting to buy into DVC. DVC? You know that means 50 years of Disney vacations???

4.The Stay Four, Get Three Free discount came out and Charles declared his preference for the Beach Club. “We would kick ourselves if we didn’t.” Right. Not arguing with you there.

5.Hundreds of little things – looking at photos on the DIS, examining menus and having opinions, asking if we could have an adult-night out while we are down there.

If Charles is no longer Anti-Disney Man, then what has he evolved into???

Go Charles!! And yeah, Jackie for master-minding the evolution! Mwahahaha. That Disney magic gets 'em every time. For some it may take a while but it always gets ya!

I love that first photo of you two w/ Chelsea. Too cute!

I'm a bit nervous about your Dec photo with the coats! I want shorts weather! There isn't room in my suitcase for coats!

Oh my goodness that chapter just made my day. I love how is smile gets bigger in each picture as we get closer to the present. Before you know it Charles will have his very own DIS name. ;)

I will admit I was waiting for the Benadryl incident, thinking he was trying to mask his feelings about arriving at Disney on your last trip. :rotfl:

I believe that the anti-dis man shell has broken and has fallen apart. Out has stepped "Charles the dis fan man" :rotfl:

Awww...I love the old photos! You have such an adorable family.

Kudos to you! I HOPE my husband can make the same turnaround that Charles has made!
