Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

Short answer?

Pro-Disney Man! ;)

Seriously, what a 180. I guess after all those wonderful years of marriage to our sweet CP here, the Disney bug just started rubbing off on him. :thumbsup2 Great update, hon. I love to read / see some of these memories. :goodvibes

Go Charles!! And yeah, Jackie for master-minding the evolution! Mwahahaha. That Disney magic gets 'em every time. For some it may take a while but it always gets ya!

I love that first photo of you two w/ Chelsea. Too cute!

I'm a bit nervous about your Dec photo with the coats! I want shorts weather! There isn't room in my suitcase for coats!

There are lots more where those old photos came from -- they will be appearing later on.

I remember the weather quite distinctly that year -- all I had hoped for was that it would be in the 70's all five days that we were there -- it was 70 the first full day we were there and then that night a cold front came in -- it was freezing. I remember we were buying sweatshirts in the gift shop under Spaceship Earth we were so cold -- the wind was just brutal. However, it was an unseasonable cold front and we did go the five days right before Christmas (we came home Christmas Eve).

Oh my goodness that chapter just made my day. I love how is smile gets bigger in each picture as we get closer to the present. Before you know it Charles will have his very own DIS name. ;)

I will admit I was waiting for the Benadryl incident, thinking he was trying to mask his feelings about arriving at Disney on your last trip. :rotfl:

I am so glad that I could cheer you up a little with the update. I hadn't even noticed the smiles until you said something, but you are so right!

That Benedryll incident -- :crazy2:

I believe that the anti-dis man shell has broken and has fallen apart. Out has stepped "Charles the dis fan man" :rotfl:

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: That's great -- now we will call him Dis Fan Man!

wow.
sounds like you had a lot of fun.
=]
i'll be reading more.

Welcome!

Awww...I love the old photos! You have such an adorable family.

Kudos to you! I HOPE my husband can make the same turnaround that Charles has made!

Thank you! I bet you can -- if I can change Charles's mind, there is hope for everyone!

Pro-Disney Man works well!

That must be it -- my sweetness! Or my constant nagging! :rotfl:

I plan on sharing lots of old photos with you guys -- after all, I do have six and a half months to fill!

Jackie you give me hope that John will turn to the pixie-dust side! I think it takes the kids getting older and enjoying their excitement.

Go Charles!

I don't know how I missed this update earlier today...not that it's been up that long but I've been DISing all day :surfweb:  Anyway, that is a pretty amazing turn around for your DH. He is definitely not and Anti-Disney man. Based on what I've seen and read I think the only way you'd get him back to the hotel in the middle of the day now would be to slip some Benadryl into his coffee in the morning :rotfl2:

The pictures are so cute too! :cutie: You can just tell by looking at Chelsea and Connor's faces what a genuine great time they are having and how happy they are. Great update today :goodvibes :thumbsup2

This is the face of a truly happy man. :goodvibes

I think he just came to his senses! Either that, or you knocked some sense into him!;)

I think the conversion is complete. How can anyone resist for too long?

Hope he had a wonderful birthday!

OMG! I loved this update!! No joke, your DH and mine were identical twins seperated at birth!!:rotfl2: Our DH's Disney experiences are THE SAME, except my DH actually purchased the DVC and pretended it was just to make me happy:rotfl2: I LOL at "her name is Boma":lmao: My DH LOVES allears to look at the menus and plan meals! Too funny!:goodvibes

1.When we talked about an October trip he said to me, “Can we stay at the Contemporary in a Magic Kingdom view room?” I picked my jaw off the floor after that one.

2.Charles insisted I book our June 2009 package the day the packages were released because “it would be bad luck not to.” Who are you???

3.We got a glossy brochure from the new Bay Lake Towers – he whined all night about wanting to buy into DVC. DVC? You know that means 50 years of Disney vacations???

4.The Stay Four, Get Three Free discount came out and Charles declared his preference for the Beach Club. “We would kick ourselves if we didn’t.” Right. Not arguing with you there.

5.Hundreds of little things – looking at photos on the DIS, examining menus and having opinions, asking if we could have an adult-night out while we are down there.

If Charles is no longer Anti-Disney Man, then what has he evolved into???[/COLOR]

I love that you made this list. It pretty perfectly plays out his growing love. It's also sweet- I think his joy and fun in all these things definitely has everything to do with his love for you guys and the fun you all have together as a family. :goodvibes

Love the update Jackie!!! So love that I have been around to witness much of his transformation---I am so proud of him!!!!! ;o) I love how our DH's have gladly come to terms with their inner Disney!!!!! It makes them THAT much more lovable!!!! Can't wait to hear about details of the date night for your trip!!!! YEAH!!!!

I'm thinking that, just possibly, that sweet little face that made its way into a bunch of those dad & daughter pictures could have helped in the conversion process. How could he not be happy watching Chelsea having such a great time hamming it up?

Chelsea, Connor, you, the pixie dust, the Florida sunshine...whatever it was, I'm glad he's come over to the right side and is on board for many future trips and great times ahead!

I do think that all the fun we have together at Disney does have something to do with it. Charles just gets such a kick out of hanging out with the kids.

Thanks! Yeah, if I am not careful I might end up having gone too far and will have a park commando on my hands. :rotfl:

The kids love Disney almost as much as their mother. ;)

This is the face of a truly happy man. :goodvibes

I love those pictures -- he really does seem to be having a good time. :goodvibes

I think he just came to his senses! Either that, or you knocked some sense into him!;)

 Ssshhhh, don't let out my secret to making Charles like Disney.

I think the conversion is complete. How can anyone resist for too long?

Hope he had a wonderful birthday!

Charles may have decided it was just easier to join our little cult. :lmao:

He had a great birthday, although I think he is starting to freak about his next one -- he keeps emphasizing that he does not want a fuss made.

 So glad I am not the only one! That cracks me up that your DH claims he purchased DVC to make you happy -- that was one expensive gift just for you! ;)

:goodv

Ahhh, that is so sweet, Julia! We do usually have fun together, but, like everyone, we have our moments where we are hissing at each other.

I may have mentioned how attractive I find him when he is enjoying Disney. :rolleyes1

I think we want to have the kids stay at the Sandcastle Club and head across the lake to Jellyrolls -- I am a sucker for that place (there is one in Atlanta). I love the idea of just being able to walk there.

Thanks, MeMom -- I always tease him that the subliminal messages in the piped-in music finally got to him.

You'll love this -- at dinner tonight I mentioned how you and your family, and Julie and her family are spending Thanksgiving at WDW. Chelsea said, "Ummm, why can't we do that? That would be fun. Do they get to eat turkey there? Where are they eating?" I told her that you were having Thanksgiving dinner at Chef Mickey's. Chelsea's response was, "I want to do that. We could have the table right next to MeMom's." I thought it was a great idea, but my checking account says otherwise! So, think of us a week from tonight and eat one of those Oreo Mickey Head things for dessert for us -- and hug Mickey extra hard! :goodvibes

Oh, just drive down and meet up with us when we meet each other! Come on, you know you want to!!!

:rotfl: Of course I want to :).

I was playing around this morning and put in the Thanksgiving dates (not in any seriousness), but there are no rooms at any of the value resorts. Sniff, sniff.

You will just have to have enough fun for all of us, and then come back and tell us ALL about it! :goodvibes

There are NO rooms? Uh oh! Sounds crowded!

I'm all caught up now - I did read about your STEAL at the Beach Club just before I left, but I wanted to say it again...CONGRATULATIONS! That is just an incredible deal!

I love the trip binder too, she looks so pretty.

And your latest update, CHARLES IS SO A DISNEY-MAN! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: He might not admit it, but it's true! The evidence is there!!

Crowded or not, you are going to have a great time down there with Mickey and his gang!

Thanks! I do feel like such that bargain hunter now. :rotfl:

Yes, there is lots of evidence that he is a Disney Man now! There's no denying it anymore. ;)

At our house, a house filled with books, no Walt Disney World trip is complete without a few new guidebooks.

They even have their own shelf since there is no way that I could part with any of them no matter how old, dog-eared, or out-dated they might prove to be.

This year, I chose a few new ones. I tried to choose those that I had not gotten last year – I had purchased previous editions in 2007, but figured it was time for new ones.

When Charles saw the box from Amazon, he sighed and asked, “Do you really need MORE Disney guide books?”

Need? Now there is an interesting word. Did I need these books like I need food everyday and air to breathe? Well, maybe not.

Did I need these books like I need a cup of coffee every morning? Yep. Sure did. Otherwise what in the world would I curl up with every Sunday afternoon to flip through before falling asleep under a warm blanket? What would I haul out on Saturday mornings when it was time for the weekly Disney discussion with Charles? What would I put in the glove box of the Grand Caravan for the drive down to Orlando? Certainly not 2007’s – that would be gauche and tacky.

See, I needed them.

So, what are the stylish planners reading this season?

The tried and true standard: Birnbaum’s Walt Disney World. I don’t think they have even taken new pictures for some of it since 1987 – I swear some of those pictures are the same. But c’mon, it’s Birnbaum’s!
Birnbaum2009.jpg

Disney food is huge at our house and planning those ADRs take a precision not seen since the Normandy invasion during World War II. So, one can never have too many descriptions of the restaurants at WDW. I only wish it had photos.
BirnbaumDining.jpg

This is a new publication in the Birnbaum library. Touted as a guide that you can carry around the park, I will be honest, there is not a single new piece of information in it that I didn’t already know. However, it was too cute to pass up even if I will never weight myself down with carrying it around the parks.
BirnbaumPocket.jpg

And last, but certainly not least: the Unofficial Guide – the bible of WDW planning – the big, burly, chap that knows it all. How I love to tab these pages – transportation charts, character meal charts, touring guides that beg to be laminated. This book gets a lot of love at our house.

Now the question of the night is: should I get the 2009 Passporter? I got the 2008 and liked it. Will I find the new one different enough to justify the price?

You have to get the new Passporter! It's the tenth anniversary edition!!!!! :lmao: (they came in at my store this week.)
