got my Visa statement--these are the great deals?

This is already a long thread but I had to throw in my 2-cents.

We use our reward credit cards (AOL and Marriott) for everything we possibly can - household bills, travel, school tuition, investments auto insurance, and anything else we possibly can. We do it to get the rewards. We have not had to pay a penny for AOL service since we got their card 6 or 7 years ago. We got our Marriott card less than a year ago and have already earned about 60,000 points (a free week's stay starts at 40,000 points depending on the hotel).

Like many folks here, I applied for a Disney card. I figured I'd get the pin and if the reward program was decent, I'd start using the card for some of the charges that I currently put on another card. I also hoped that there would be discounts similar to the Magic Kingdom Club/Disney Club. As we now know, that isn't the case. Gone is the 10% savings at Downtown Disney and Disney Stores (the only reason I ever used the MKC/DC card). In its place is a 1% discount. If they don't come up with something far better soon, I will certainly close the account and add the card to my Disneyana collection as just another display item.

Unfortunately, this has turned out to be just another example of Disney cutting back and further alienating its most devoted customers. Once I get my pin, whenever that is, I think this card will be history.

Had to go back and make sure I wasn't seeing things.. LOL
This is what is posted on the mousesavers.com site that don't require the Disney Visa:

Discount Codes for Annual & Seasonal Passholders
Discounts for Annual and Seasonal Passholders can be deep (up to 45%), particularly for the higher-priced properties. Typically the Annual Passholder rates are released about two to six months in advance, and they are more likely to be available during Value and Regular seasons, though there have been exceptions to this. These rates are so good that in some cases it's worth investing in an Annual Pass for stays as short as three days! To learn more about how to decide if an Annual Pass is a good deal for your situation, click here.

Had me worried there - I thought I was going to have to buy new glasses AGAIN!! LOL ;)

My special offer is through 8-23. Those all expire 7-03. Not sure what special offers SuzyQue had. I assume there will be more AP and FL rates soon, but for those wanting to lock in August now, this code is not on mousesavers.

I have the Toys-r-us Visa Card. It pays 4% on all Toys-r-us, Kidsrus and Babiesrus purchases. 1% on everything else. I charge everything I possibly can and pay my credit card bill in full every month. I just checked my bill. I have received $515.00 back since 3/01. I let the coupons accumulate for a couple of months and then use them. It's great at Xmas and back-to-school time.

I had a supermarket (Shop-Rite) Mastercard a few years back. They then switched to AMEX. I had to find a new Visa (that's when I got Toysrus) because a lot of places didn't take AMEX.

this code is not on mousesavers.
The code may not be but another with the same discount will be available for everyone if there isn't one out already.
It is a spelling bee game...

I'd be surprised the day Disney Visa offers its members an exclusive, butt-kicking offer not matched by anything else available to the general public! I do not foresee DV beating any card any time soon, so most consumers will select to use their cards with the best rewards most often.

And yes, Toys R Us's card is the top in the retail category.

The offers aren't listed on Mousesavers, they are listed on Bank One Disney's site after you log in. ~:D~

Oh yes - I realized that.. The offers that I was referring to (and posted here) are the ones that are on mousesaver and don't require the Disney Visa.. I was just giving a heads up to anyone who was under the impression that the only way to get some of those rates was by signing up for the Disney Visa..

Although the particular rates I previously posted don't have the exact same dates as the Disney Card offer, they do have the same "rates" as someone with the Disney Visa previously quoted here..

I personally don't use credit cards myself (I can still hear my late father's words ringing in my ears, "Pay as you go - unless you're going for GOOD!!!!" LOL) but thought I would share those rates with others who seem to feel as though the Disney Visa card hasn't lived up to it's promises of awe-inspiring rewards.. ;)

Oops! I also see where you (and others) might have thought those rates were provided by YOU - at the end, where it says, "Thanks to Susy".. That entire passage was on the mousesavers site - guess I should have deleted the "Thanks to Susy" part.. LOL

Sorry for the confusion!! :)
