got my Visa statement--these are the great deals?

I will more than likely stick with our AMEX Blue card and my Priority Club Visa. They both have better rewards than this card. My Priority Club Card gets me 1 point per dollar spent for points to stay at any Holiday Inn Hotel Chain Hotel. They also have bonuses for if you pay for your nights stay at Holiday Inn with the card you earn sometimes double and triple points. ;)

I am also insanely curious about the credit limits that they are giving people on this card. My card came with a $20K credit limit. That is insane! Are they giving everyone insane credit limits like this? I also saw that there is a ver high rate of people that are being rejected by Bank One. :(

This card will never replace MKC or DC IMHO! :(

I say bring back the MKC! Till then I will use my DVC discount at TDS and my Annual Pass at Downtown disney. Especially since they also took the AMEX discounts away.

Disney's marketing is so full of hot air, don't worry. Give it a few months at the most and I am sure they'll resucitate DC in one way or another.

Just like the "last time available ever" Disney video hoopla of the 90s that made people rush to buy their videos until everyone learned they'd be back in 7 yrs...

Talk of the AMEX reward card got my attention so I decided to check around to see who takes the card. Found very few merchants in our area who actually accept the card. I can't justify getting a card that I won't be able to use. Hopefully AMEX is working on this! Maybe this is just a Minnesota problem?

I got my statement today too and I was surprised that I had gotten 10 points (equals 10 Disney Dollars) when I had only charged $955. Is this the norm for most "Rewards" CCs? I had expected to only have 9 points so far.

I am not sure about other reward cards, but the Disney card rounds. Anything over 50 rounds up. Anything under 50 rounds down.

I charged 1030 and go 10 points.

I realize that there are better rewards cards out there now, but just what do all of you want to see? I mean do you want free rooms, free air fare, what??

Nothing says that we are owed anything for using a credit card, and while the 1% doesn't match some of the discounts you received from the DC, at least it is something. I mean every time you turn around benefits are disappearing.

Nowadays, AMEX establishments are not as prevalent as they used to be. Maybe this will change...I remember when Discover first came out, everyone had it, then they started dropping it because of the fees they had to pay to Discover. Now Discover is making a comeback.

I for one have the card and expect to use the heck out of it to build up as many reward points as I can. At least it will take some damage away from my AP payment.

I am or was a big Disney fan but lately?? Anyway, the card is just not worth it. I have no intentions of applying for the Visa/Disney card just to have a Disney logo on it and rewards that at best are lame...smjj

Can't say I'm surprised.. The fact that they were SOOOO secretive about what all of these FABULOUS rewards were going to be should have raised a MAJOR red flag.. It's a common ploy used by any number of marketers to suck people in with promises that never materialize..

The one thing I can't figure out though is why it seems that Disney is going OUT OF THEIR WAY to alienate customers??

Don't they have enough problems already??

Quality, that's what. Good deals and the feeling of valuing the customers. So what if other cards are mediocre? Does that justify Disney's recent display of mediocrity? I don't think so. After all, shouldn't we expect the highest out of the self-proclaimed most magical place (and company) on earth?
Heck, "puny" Universal Studios has the top entertainment rewards card out in the market... You're telling me Disney isn't enough to top that after all?

Do your homework, dear. AMEX is one of the most solid financial companies as of this date. All their credit cards rank among the top in everything. Do your own searches.
After 9/11, many financial corporations laid off employees by the thousands. AMEX held on, because of its stability in the market. Rather than offering less, they solidified what they have to offer their customers and are kicking butts topping every single credit card. Compared to other companies, AMEX's stability in a time like this is admirable.
Why in the living world would a company like Disney want to break ties with the financial company which has the best, highest ranked credit cards???? Am I blind or what the heck are they winning????

I for one have the card and expect to use the heck out of it to build up as many reward points as I can.
Hey, it's your buck, and your patience...
Wonder why it makes me think of George Burn's quote:"I don't even buy green bananas anymore"

Mystifying, isn't it?

In my area (Atlanta, so it's a major metropolitan area), Visa is accepted more places than Amex. Amex is accepted many places, but there are a few places I go that don't take Amex.

I have been pretty satisfied with my Disney Visa. I got a good credit limit, and I have earned quite a few points (due largely to corporate purchases for which I will be reimbursed). The way I see it, it does add up to some WDW gift certificates that I will enjoy using. It's not as many points as my old Skymiles Amex, but I would rather earn my points for Disney stuff than for a plane ticket. I have thought of getting an Amex, but I find that Visa is more widely accepted around here. I have received an offer for a vacation discount from Disney Visa online, and it looks like pretty good rates. There was also an offer for Disney's Hilton Head resort with a good discount. Overall, I've been pleased. Just my two cents. :)

Docsnort, Many merchants don't take Amex because Amex charges the merchants a fee to allow the use of the card in their stores. I learned this from several storeowners in my area so I would assume it's probably the same throughout the country. Didn't know they could do this, butI hey it's a credit card! Mo' money, mo' money, mo' money!!

Simple, they think (probably rightly so) that they will make more money with the VISA. In all likelyhood the AmEx deal was a flat rate deal. AmEx paid Disney X dollars per year to be the "Official Card" of WDW and WDW agreed to give discounts and perks to card members using the card for certain WDW vacation related expenses. AmEx's "stability" added no value to the deal.

Now look at the VISA. When you charge $100 on your VISA, the retailer doesn't get $100 deposited in their bank account. Depending on who they use as a "merchant services" company, they'll probably only get around $95 - $97. The credit card transaction processor, and VISA split that $3 - $5 fee. In the case of "vanity' VISA cards, part of that fee goes to the "vanity" partner. So Disney makes money every time you use your VISA card. The more you use it, the more Disney makes. Not so with the AmEx deal.... unless you're buying more and more WDW vacations with your AmEx card.

But think about it: What encourages a customer to use the credit card: Money going back to the company or rewards for his/her personal use?

And if those rewards are skimpy or take a long time to accumulate, and are even capped... Gawd bless those who will prefer to use a card benefiting a company more simply out of loyalty!

And you mean that deal is yet better than choices of rewards including air miles, hotel stays or even cash back, not limited or capped, doubled or even tripled points depending on the promos???

Sounds like a faster, longer lasting way to get a ton of rewards to me, but..
Oh well..

I just went to the website and saw that right now there are zero offers for Disney World or Disneyland. Wow! What an amazing program! At least with the Disney Club you always got some sort of discount on your room, merchandise, etc.

These rates are the same as the rates that any Florida resident can get with the code from mousesavers.com - no Disney Visa necessary..

Just a heads up for anyone living down there!;)

Actually the dates with this code is longer for FL residents. Goes until 8-23;) ! Other ones out there are only until July 3. Don't see this code on Mousesavers. But we are not using it as we got CR through SOG:D ! I am hoping I can get our CBR rates down for NOV though. Have it for $84 now, very good as is!

While a good percentage of people use credit cards because of the rewards programs, a lot of people still just use them because of the convenience factor of not having to pay cash. I don't know the terms of the AmEx/Disney deal, but I doubt AmEx was paying them that much for the privledge. It probably won't take much in the way of consumer usage before Disney's cut of the merchant fees exceeds what they were getting from AmEx. This isn't to say the Disney rewards program is wonderful, obviously it's less than overwhelming... but that doesn't mean the change in card programs doesn't make sense from a business standpoint.

Don't see this code on Mousesavers.

Based on past experience, you may not see the codes but exact offers will be available to outsiders hidden under other letters...

It is just a fiasco

I just logged in on my site and there are 8 special offers including 1 for DW and 1 for DL. ~:D~

I thought it would probably be about the same reward as a Discover Card.
It is, Discover only give 1% up to the first so many thousand you spend, then I think they raise it to 1.5 % etc. ~:D~
