getting excited. My pack is being sent for me to go over dvc. Said if I got started now my use year would be March and no payments due (other than 10% down) until April or May. 10 dollars off a point or a free vacation. I'll take the $10 off.

You should be able to get any Use Year that is available. I think most people don't understand the Use Year well enough to make a specific request. And, in fact, the UY may be insignificant depending upon your travel patterns. But, it makes sense to at least understand how it works and decide whether you need a specific UY.

Regardless of which UY you purchase, you will still get 49 years' worth of points. So, there's really no financial reason to choose March over December. But if you travel the same time period each year, the UY can have a profound impact on your ability to bank points in a pinch.
