My husband (so romantic) of so many many years is going to give me the wedding of my dreams next year (Sept 2005)!!!! He asked me again for my hand in marriage. LOL! We have started to make plans TODAY to get married again (not renewing vows--our license if from another country--a quick wedding in front of a judge--long story) and we are doing it with just us and our DD9. I am soooooo happy! This came to me as a surprise. DH asked me where I wanted to stay and that I could choose any place and any room on Disney (10 days)! I chose the Grand Floridian of course, but our DD9 will be with us so I'm taking that into consideration too. He called Disney and they said that the GF has a two bedroom villa with a full kitchen that can sleep up to 10 people...anybody know about this?

If I don't choose the GF, can anyone recommend another resort that will suit us, a family of 3??? Maybe we can split between two resorts?

I was also looking into the Platinum package...want to see if we can work that in with the "intimate" private wedding. I don't know...Disney said they would call me back but they haven't today (they must be busy). Hope to hear from them tomorrow.

This is going to be our first time onsite too!!!! I need to add another counter quick. :teeth: I'm so happy that I can't sit still!!!

Congratulations!! Im very excited for you! There are soo many wonderful places to stay in Disney. Some of my favorites are the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdon, and of course the Grand Floridian!!! We are staying at the Grand Floridian the night of our wedding!

Well, Good luck with the plans! These boards and everyone on them are FANTASTIC!!!

Congratulations Tanya that is fabulous news - how sweet that your husband proposed again

Please do not think that I am raining on your parade but I should tell you that I was last under the impression from past Disney Brides that Disney won't let you actually get re-married because you already are - we looked into this for my brother and SIL and I was told that they would have to have a Disney Vow Renewal because the Florida State wouldn't give them a new Marriage license being that they were already married and Disney won't marry you unless you have a Floridian Marriage License, so you may need to double check this.

As far as a 2 bed villa at the GF is concerned I personally have never heard of this but I don't know a lot about this resort. I know that Old Key West, The Boardwalk and other Disney Vacation Club's have Grand 2 Bed Villas and they are fabulous and indeed you don't have to be a DVC member to stay at these resorts. I'd be interested to know more about the villa at the GF.

It's no rainstorm...if they don't let us do it all over again then we can just renew them (thanks for letting me know this Fantasia Sam). The cost won't certainly change either. LOL. As always, I have to check behind DH and I will call the GF myself about this whole villa bit.

I haven't gotten the chance to view the details about every resort, but I know that I will be picking from the Deluxe or the Home Away from home just because of our DD. DH is somewhere stuck on OKW though and that's because he says that it just sounds relaxing. I just need to gather more info.

Also, our DD will get all she wants out of Disney like getting to stay onsite and feeling the magic so it's like we are killing two birds with one stone and you only live once. DH just wants to hit the parks and lay around the resort. I want to have a fabulous wedding and do a lot of the dinner shows.

It's 9am and I'm still waiting a call from Disney. I'm not at the frustration level yet and that means they have one more day to get back to me.

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE CONGRATS!!!!

Congrats!!! A note about adding Platinum to the intimate wedding package... I'm not sure if you can add the extras to the existing intimate package, but if you can't you can book the wedding as an "add-on" (just includes all wedding-related stuff - no rooms or park passes). You'll have to book whatever package you want first, then you can book the wedding portion. If you have any questions about the Platinum package, ask away, we're trying it in November:D

I just got off the phone with a Wedding Specialist and she suggested what you suggested Diswedwish. She said to book the Platinum package first and then add on the wedding. She priced us a moderate resort with a standard view (yuck!). The room at the GF is booked on the days we want to stay so I'm going to look into the Polynesian because we need concierge service.

I also asked about videography and for a DVD it will cost us $1065. and for two VHS is $800.

We are not able to get a Home Away from Home because of course the DVC members own it and they get first choice as they should. We still have a little more research to do.

I don't think this is necessarily the case.
Disney itself owns a decent share of DVC inventory ( I think 6%), there are also a lot of DVC points that come back into Disney's books ( to sell as roomspace) when DVC members use their points outside of the DVC resorts ( this could be the Disney cruise, swapping into other timeshares, non DVC hotels at WDW, DisneyParis or California. Now there will be peak times like Xmas and Easter when DVC rooms are likely to be pretty well booked up, but at September I wouldn't think you'd have any trouble at all booking any of the DVC resorts. The only roomsize that may get in short supply are the grand villas( sleeps 12), but as there are only three of you I would suggest you consider a one Bedroom unit that has a full kitchen, dining area and living room. The bedroom itself only has one Kingsized bed, but there is a pullout sofabed in the livingroom that is more than adiquate for one child (age 9)
If you particularly want to splurge you could go for a 2 bedroom unit, this is basically a one bedroom unit with a "regular" hotel room linked to it, giving your son his own bedroom, bathroom and a choice of beds to sleep in.

With DVC , there is a restriction on owners booking a maximum of 11 months in advance, so owners wouldn't be able to book for September 2005 until Oct 2004, maybe this is why you weren't able to book a DVC "home away from home" unit. I feel certain you'd have no problems in a couple of months.

Congrats! My DH proposed again to me at MK this June too! We are renewing our vows next June. I'm sure you are really excited. Keep us posted on your plans. I love hearing about people's plans.::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

We are DVC members and OKW is our home resort. If you have any questions about the rooms, locations or layouts just let me know!

Thanks Jessi and congrats to you too! We chose the Polynesian because the room we want is already booked for our dates. I'm going for Deluxe for our first stay on the property. DH is debating on whether to buy into DVC. We'll see what he thinks after our stay at the Poly.

If you're thinking of buying into DVC, you'd be better off staying at one of Wilderness Lodge ( preferably VWL) , Beach Club ( preferably BCV) or the Boardwalk Inn.

All are top rate hotels and IMHO a match for the Poly. If you go for a one bedroom DVC unit at one of those resorts it would give you a real insight, one way or the other, into DVC BEFORE you hand over $20k+. Taking the tour is very instructional, but staying in one of the units will give you a MUCH better idea of what's on offer.
