Got DS's Autograph Book Done!!!!!

also sometimes it has issues when your album is large...try breaking it up into smaller albums and see if that works...I hope this helps

no worries...I am babysitting a sleeping baby so I have time...it should work fine on the 5x7...and like i said you should just be able to zoom out..thats how I did mine and it worked fine...it might not be you at all I noticed they did a program update and it may be a glitch in the system..maybe sleep on it and try again tomorrow...

Wendy, after much trial and effort last night and help from Dana I continued to hit a brick wall. I went back to the beg. of this thread and saw how you explained the spacing/ "border" to Dolly.

Hey Dolly - Thanks!!

No - I didn't add the white space - when I ordered it - you basically go through a process of positioning the picture onto the page of the book - so, I kept it that size as I didn't want it to fill up the entire page - which basically left the white border........ it isn't a border though, it's just the page - if that makes sense. You actually see how it will look, so you can edit the size of the photo onto the page.

How do you keep the photo at the 4 X 6 size? If I drag and drop, it fills the 5 X 7 page and cuts off part of the picture, so I can't do that obviously. What layout did you choose, or is there some way of dropping, then changing the size? Or none of the above that I mentioned. If you don't mind to guide me on how you did this step to place on the page, centered each time, and kept it at the 4 X 6 size I would greatly appreciate it. I need help! :)

Hello. Kind of new to the boards and checking out all the dsigns- so much fun! I have been browsing through a lot of peoples projects, your book looks great. I had a couple of questions. Will snapfish print these books with the disney characters in them? or is that why you're using this other company? Can you put photos on the front cover or even better a photo collage? Did you make your EPCOT passport book 5x7 too? Sorry for so many at once, but any info would be great, and thanks.

I'm curious about this too. I don't have time to order from artscow but would like to do passports and I don't want to waste my time ordering and checking it off my list if it is going to be flagged and cancelled.

I just received a book that I ordered a photo book from Snapfish to use as an autograph book. Most of the book had photos of my kids from years past with the characters, but I did throw in a couple of autograph pages at the back that were made from Disney clip art similar to this:

There was no problem with the order.

okay...I am not sure exactly whats not working but here is what I think might help...once you drag and drop you pic if you click on it it should have a blue square around it...this box should come up in the corner and you should just be able to use the zoom out button....

Hi All................ As danagirl posted above me............ this is exactly what I did.......... I DID NOT resize the pics from the original size - I copied them at the LARGEST SIZE from Natalies photobucket - then I saved them all into ONE file - (easy access) then I uploaded them into artscow. When I put them on each page, as the above pic shows, you can THEN resize them using the zoom in - zoom out button - ALL I DID was was to make the pic smaller by "zooming out" - once I saw a "white area" around the entire pic on the page - I left it alone. It came out perfectly. IF YOU NOTICE the two pictures (autograph pages) in the above screenshot - those are TOO BIG - they need to be one size smaller - on the right and left sides there is NO WHITE - you want to be able to see the white area around the entire picture.

Other than that - I'm afraid I cannot help.......... that is all I did. :goodvibes

If I remember correctly - I hit the zoom out button 9 times to have it nicely centered.

Great screen shot Dana - I am sure it will be very helpful!

Thank You Danagirl for posting that picture.................. it should be VERY helpful!!!! :goodvibes

Someone else asked about using another place - (snapfish) - I "thought" they would print them.............. I actually tried using them, but had such a hard time with getting the pics to look right on the page, I just went to artscow and it was actually very easy for me.............. I know others are having a hard time, but, I had a hard time with snapfish............ but as for if they will print them or not............. I assume so......... I've heard others say they will - I just didn't use them because it was very hard for me to figure out how to get the layout correct.

disneybliss........... RE: your post on my thread............

for the picture you use on the front for the cover - that you will see through the opening:

You will have to RESIZE that picture to fit in within the opening - using the zoom out button - you will need to keep zooming out until you get it to fit in that window............ you can keep checking it by viewing how it'll look - you are going to have to go pretty small though. As for the other pages, again, once you place them on the page, then you'll resize them by using the ZOOM OUT button - as explained above, you will need to keep zooming out until you see a white area completely around the picture. The one's that danagirl posted show this very well............. they are still TOO BIG - as on both the right and left side there is NO white area - they need to be zoomed out again or at least until you can see white ALL THE WAY AROUND the picture.

Again, try using the picture you orginally wanted for your cover page by doing this - it should work - but, if not and you still want me to make something for you - let me know. However, PLEASE note, that no matter what - using Natalies or mine, the pic will have to LARGE to begin with - otherwise it will be horrible when resized. If we make a small picture to fit - it won't work. Try using the one you wanted and follow these steps and you should find that it works out just fine.

I hope this helps. Wendy

Thanks ladies...I am a visual learner and the arrows help because I sometimes have trouble seeing things right in front of me:laughing:

Just got home from church and rushed to the computer to see if there was anything new since I posted this morning. Thanks everyone for the help. I did hit the zoom out button last night to play w/ the sizing, but it appeared to look odd w/ so much white around it. Wendy, it looked as if yours was perfectly centered, spaced, perfect amount of white "border" that I felt it had to be a 4 X 6 layout drag and drop instead of the zoom. Knowing this is how you did it, I'll go back to doing that as well.

Wendy, thanks for your patience and all your detailed instructions.

Dana, thanks for your help as well and the graphic. I too am a visual gal, so having the graphic helped. Plus, I would have thought the graphic you had on the right would have worked. Since you can see the border all around (although the border on the top & bottom is bigger than the sides), I would have messed that up thinking that it had been sufficiently zoomed out. It was good to have your graphic and hear from Wendy that I need to zoom out even further.

You all are AWESOME!!!!!!!! Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I pull this off okay. :)

Hey Wendy- I may have missed the response but, I wient through all the pages again.... Will you post the pic of the SWW that is on the front of the autograph book?

Thanks!!

Thanks, Amy. Good info to know. I would have been nervous zooming it out that much, so it's helpful to know what you did. Gives me an idea of what to aim for. I'm putting my little one down for a nap, and then thanks to everyone's help, I'm off to create! :)

Ok, last question (I promise!!!!). I've zoomed out 7 times. 9 times like Amy said she did does center it much better, but I want less white. Will 7 times be too tight for the binding to be sewn? Also, the pictures look fuzzy as you zoom them out--not near as clear as when you left them full size. They don't turn out fuzzy when they're printed in the book do they?
I promise I'll keep all other questions to myself after these two. :)

You can zoom as much as you want, for me though, I didn't want the entire page to be full with the design (pic) that is why I zoomed enough to have white all the way around it - and I know it may look "fuzzy" - I was worried about that too......... but they do NOT look like that in person. They look awesome - not blurry or fuzzy or anything - I know you say you don't want a lot of white - but, I think having a little bit is better than having the entire page the picture. Either way, it shouldn't affect the binding at all.

Hope this helps............ keep us posted on the progress - you can even post the book here when finished.

I will go get the link to DS's entire book and post it - so you can see how it looks. :goodvibes

Here is the link to DS's book.............. you can see on the pages how much "white" area is around the picture. http://www.artscow.com/share/6f6epm1v16sm

actually, looking at it now........... there doesn't look like there is a LOT of space to the right and left sides of the pictures - just enough to show a little white - I think if you do this you'll be fine. Again, mine looks amazing and NOT fuzzy or anything at all. Just remember to keep resizing the front cover pic to fit inside the window.......... I had to go really small in order to see all of it and his name.

Here is the link to his passport book - I did the exact same thing here, zooming out until I had the white area around the picture.

http://www.artscow.com/share/er9azl4rrwc5

I used the exact same 5x7 book in the white (which in person looks very silvery or pearlessence) it gorgeous!!! :)

I'm just waiting for it to get here. OHHHHH, also note on the first page, up at the top on the website there is a FREE shipping code for new members if you make the 8x8 book!!!! Oh, and I used paypal both times!! :)

Both of your books look AMAZING! Like you said, it does look better w/ some white otherwise the picture gets cut off (noses, ears, etc.). Too much white looks a little funny to me, though. I think you had the perfect balance. What I was worried w/ zooming out 7 times is that it wouldn't leave enough space in the margin where it was sewn for the binding and some of the picture might get lost in the binding. Looking at your book fully makes me think I'll be okay. I greatly appreciate your willingness to help me,taking the time to post your books (which are awesome), and answer the gazillion questions I've had. Your kindness means a lot! Yea! I didn't have a question on this post. :)

I would absolutely have added them - the book is NOT big or bulky or anything - it's the perfect size - I don't think adding 75 pages will be a problem for you - as you are putting images on the front and back of pages - it won't really be as thick as you think. I'd do it.............. :goodvibes

You won't be able to have that many pages. It only allowed me to have 63 pages total. I could not add more. Just thought I'd let ya'll know.
