Found out today that our Rot. ( our baby) has a bone tumor. :sad1: Just need to share to make me feel alittle better.

So sorry about that. How old is he/she? Is it something that can be removed or was it diagnosed as cancerous? Wishing your poochy the best.:grouphug:

Thanks! she is 10. My vet put her on tumor med. for 4 weeks to see what happens and do another xray after the 4 weeks. With Rotts. it is very common. I have done research and it seems it will end up being 2 options. 1) amputation 2) leave her be until the time comes.

I'm sorry. One of my Shepherds had a bone tumor too. He was around the same age - I chose option #2. Feel free to PM if I can be of any help.

We decided that if the medicine doesn't work we will go w/ option #2

My precious greyhound Inky has a bone tumor. She is almost 10 yrs old, and had 3 surgeries to try to repair the leg. (our case was it was what we now know was a pathological fracture that kept breaking) Those surgeries just wiped her out, lost weight, poor quality of life. We chose not to go with amputation. I am a Ortho RN, and I see how miserable people are with phantom pain, I didn't want to cause more harm at this point. (it had metastasized)

She is on Ultram 50mg twice a day, and is eating, continent and still plays with her babies. It has been since Oct since her first break, Dec since the diagnosis. She is really doing good considering, and I am at peace with our decision.

I am so sorry this is happening to you and your rottie. I remember the day when they first told me, and it broke my heart in two. Please feel free to PM me with any questions I can help you with. Most of all, many thoughts and prayers for you baby. :grouphug:

I'm sorry. Hugs and prayers to you and your furbaby.

I am so sorry, they really are family members

I'm so sorry. We're going through lymphoma with one of our cats. I'm just trying to make every day count. :sad1:

Best wishes to you and your doggie. :flower3:

Well we had to make an appointment for monday to put her to sleep. She won't even get up to go out. My dh has to force her out and that takes all her strength. She has also stopped eating her food. It's a sad sad day in our house especially for my dds.
