I got a a cute mickey mouse 8x8 scrapbook for christmas. I was wondering if yall had any tips for a beginning scrapbooker.:goodvibes

WELCOME Sleeping*Beauty! jump right in and ask away! there are lots of good tips and advice around here. and we have lots of fun too!

Take your time, dont over spend, and be patient!

My first few pages of scrapbooking consisted of pictures, a sheet of paper, and some random shapes I cut with scissors.
-Take your time...
I dont like to think of it as a "rushing" game type deal. If I find myself fusterated with it because it doesn't look like its turning out, just put it away. Come back and you might get different inspiration.
-Don't over spend...
I realized when I first started, I spent A LOT of money on very pricey things that I never even ended up using. A lot of times, what I do now, is look at my pictures get an idea in my head of what I want to do, and then go get the certain products (I dont own much so I dont have much laying around)
-Be patient, especially with yourself.
The first few pages will be nothing you were hoping they'd be (unless you're a natural, and then you're just awesome!) Looking back at my first pages, to what I'm doing now, I realized that only time makes things better. So be patient with yourself, if something doesnt turn out, dont throw it away or give up. I realize a lot of people like (what I thought) was my most horrible pages, over my best.

Of course, if all else fails, look over the scrapbooking threads & swap threads. I found TONS AND TONS of ideas over the swap threads for stuff to add to pages. Make sure you have the starting items (adhesive, paper, scissors/cutter, disney embellishments, etc.

Best of luck to your scrapbooking journey!!!!

Nikkole hit the nail on the head. Patience is the key.

If you think you are going to really get into scrapping then invest in good quality tools. I can't tell you how many times I have re-bought tools because the first ones were terrible.

you might want to take a class or two at a local scrap store or Michael's, that is a great way to start.

If you have any questions just ask, we're here to help!

I would recommend looking at page layouts and see what style you like, as well as the other suggestions you have already gotten.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the world of scrapping Sleeping*Beauty! :teeth: I'm glad you found us here. This is a great group. :thumbsup2

I agree with looking at other people's LOs (layouts). There are some threads here and then there are sites like TwoPeas where people post theirs. It's a great way to get ideas. But be careful you don't spend too long looking...I did that & became intimidated by how great everyone else's work was! :lmao:

One of the things that helped me the most was attending crops/classes. Scrappers tend to be the friendliest group of people I've ever encountered! Most are very willing to share ideas, tools & materials and love to take a "newbie" under their wing. ;) It's good to have someone to ask things like "Does this look good?" and "Do these colors match?"...that kind of ting.

Most of all, have fun!! :teeth:
