Got a nice rate at Budget

Thanks for all the tips about car renting... especially that about checking, checking and re-checking the rates.

We were originally at $128 for 5 days with Dollar (compact car), which I thought was pretty good. But I kept on checking....

And we just found Budget offering 5 days (compact car) for $93. So we've switched our reservations. I know, I know... it's only a savings of 35 dollars or so, but still.....

To be perfectly honest, I have no idea where to get good codes. We just went directly to Budget's website, and clicked through on their offers. I believe they had a button that showed a discount off the weekly rate (minimum 5 days required). We're renting from Monday am to Friday pm, so it worked out well.

They had other city specials too, but mostly for the larger sized cars, so we didn't bother. It seems like overkill for two adults and one child to get a big car.

I just got a really good deal on Budget, too, without a code! 5 days plus 3 hours for $148 for a full size car. Then I went to "specials" on the Budget site. It gave a coupon code for a single upgrade. I tried using that with no discount code. That time I got the same rate, but with an upgrade, also! So, we'll get a premium car for a total of $205.

We have always used Dollar in the past, but this rate it too good to pass up. I'm not very familiar with Budget, though. Any thoughts on them? Are the lines really long at the airport rental counters?
