My laptop completely and totally died after 2 years yesterday. The power cord snapped, battery was completely used, 3 keys were missing and the others had dirt under them, had been dropped a few times, and it even broke my toe.

I was going to get a new laptop for Christmas anyway so I was trying to make my old laptop last until Christmas, but it didn't. :sad2:

Anyway, I'm now going from Windows whatever to Windows 7. That's a pain in my rear, but not as much as uploading all my programs and everything. So my next question is...

How do I put iTunes on this computer without losing my music?

My music is all on my iPod and on CDs, but I don't want to have to resort to the CDs if I don't have to. I'm totally fed up with Apple and trying to do things myself, so I'm asking you guys first. Thanks!

Well, so first you have to download iTunes onto your new computer. You get it from the Apple website.
Then you have to import all of the music from the CDs. You can't sync backwards (as in take the music off your iPod onto your iTunes) without special software. You could google backwards syncing and probably find it online though. It's a long process; I just did it when I got my MacBook. But it's basically the only way...
A tip: get an external hard drive to back your music up onto every time you buy it. With the music on the external not only will you have it in case your computer crashes but its so much faster to rebuild your iTunes from it.
Oh, don't plug your iPod into your computer to try to sync it; you'll lose all the music and everything that was on your iPod, which sucks hardcore.

What she said! I actually just had to do this about 2 weeks ago. If you can still use your old laptop just use a USB drive or an external drive to back everything up - if not, go the CD route. And then after you get everything into iTunes, once you plug the iPod in you can put all your purchased music on the new computer and just authorize the computer to play all your purchased music.
