Terry, just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean that Pop Century and AKL Concierge didn't ask to see mine. JEEZ!

Be careful and continue to check on your reservation. They can charge you full rate if they want to. Remember you are paid in full, but it's on a discounted rate that you do not officially qualify for. As mentioned on the boards, they may ask you for the pin or the printed email or mailer when you check in.

Not exactly the same, but airlines have the right to ask people to buy an extra seat if they feel the persons size requires them to have an extra seat not only for their comfort but also for the people sitting next to them. If the person doesn't want to they can just refund their money.

I'd hate to be all pumped for the trip, get there to check, and be told it was going to cost me rack rate to stay there.

Please keep us posted when you do go what happens.

Actually I was never told that I didn't qualify for that code. I called and CM #1 told me I didn't need a PIN. I called back 3 more times, speaking to 3 more Cms and was told I did not need a Pin. So obviously I did not need a PIN. I called the other day to make sure they have me as paid in full and they do. I am not going to worry about it. I know I have a room.:)

Oh I believe you. What I'm saying is it just doesn't happen like everyone seems to think. There was a poll on another board a while back about who got asked for their Aps at check in. It ended up being 99% that never got asked for anything. So while it may happen once in a great while, it doesn't happen most of the time.

OK, I'm so excited!!! I just called Disney and said "I'm waiting for October discounts to come available and I've come across code (can I put the code here?) and I would like to know if it can be applied to my reservations". The CM looked up the code and said "it is a direct e-mail discount code. Let's see if it will apply". And it applied! He asked if I received an e-mail from them and I said "No" (I was totally honest) and he told me my new rate is $79 a night for CSR and that I'll get a new confirmation letter in the mail. He varified my email and home addresses and phone number. I also asked when the October park schedule will be available and he said in a couple of weeks. We talked for a bit and he was super nice.

I just called back and spoke to a cm. I explained what happened- that I called and asked if a discount could be applied to my reservatoin. He said it showed that I got an e-mail or postcard or something. I told him I never got one and that the first cm didn't ask for a pin but that I was worried that I would be asked for one once I got there. He said not on this kind of promotion- they would not ask for the pin. He put me on hold and checked everything. He assured me everything was fine and I didn't need one. He actually was going to give me a PIN number to make me feel better- but couldn't find one. He said the first cm put it in the computer as the e-mail or postcard came to me personally and it was fine- not to worry. He said I got lucky. He said sometimes if you call and ask about current discounts you may just get lucky with these things- he also noted that I had just been there in Nov. Either way, I feel I got lucky and am happy about that. I am sorry others did not get as lucky. I will continue to check on my reservation periodically to make sure. Good luck to everyone still waiting on a discount!princess:

Disney doesn't have to honor anything. You applied a code that wasn't applicable to you. Disney can just as easily cancel your reservation and give you your money back. No harm no foul and COMPLETELY within their provence.

I completely disagree... I think that if they are quoting someone a price and you have written confirmation of that price, they must honor what they have quoted you. In my case, I didn't know if the code was applicable to me. I read about a code posted here this morning and asked the CM if I could apply it and she said yes. I am taking the CM's word for it, since SHE is the Disney rep - not anyone else here. As far as I'm concerned, the code was applicable to me, as this is what I was told.

If someone was allowed to make a ressie with this code and had no indication that it was not for them and was not told otherwise, I cannot believe that it wouldn't be honored. This is what a "reservation" is - they are promising you a certain room at a certain price. If it is true that this is a direct-mail offer code only, then the fault lies with Disney and their training of CM's. I think if they tried to charge rack-rate at check-in, anyone would have one heck of a good argument and, as another poster stated, with their customer service reputation, they would most likely honor the rate if the issue was pushed.

Anyway, good luck to everyone in getting their rates and thanks to the OP for posting the code. I am curious to know if anyone has every had this type of situation occur and if the CM tried to charge them rack rates at check-in?

wheew.. hopes this puts this debate to bed. we had the same exact experience this morning. we were told the PIN isn't exactly that important as people may think (in so many words) ;) everyone should just be happy WDW is still giving discounts with bookings up and tourism downturn WELL behind us.

I called to see if I could use the discount code for my reservations in October at CSR. I was told that it is only available with a PIN. She was very nice but clear that it required the PIN. It seems like the luck of the draw. Good Luck to everyone else.

Woohoo! I just called 10 minutes ago to try the code and it worked. I received the pop century for $49/nt. She asked if I had a promotional code to apply and did not ask how I received it or for my pin number. I'm so excited, now if the airfare would come down.

Hi All,
Read your posts and called to see if I could use it. I told the CM I had a ressie and asked if code xxx would apply to me. He said yes without pulling up any of my info. When he did pull up my ressie he said it applies only to value and moderate resorts:( . He did say," AP's should be coming out around the 28th and to watch the website. But, then again marketing could sneak another code into the system". I guess I will hold out for a code on the Poly.Maybe the AP codes will come soon-I hope.

Okay, I think it has been established that the CODE in question is a DIRECT MAIL POSTCARD offer. It DOES require a PIN number. Have some been able to book without it--yes, but a mistake by a CM does not make it a public code.

The posting of codes that are NOT for the general public and require any sort of PIN number are not to be posted on the DIS. It is against the board posting guidelines.

If you have received this discount on your reservation and do not have a PIN number postcard to go with it, Disney can indeed change you to full rack rate. The stipulation of the discount for the reservation is that the Post Card (or email) must be provided at check-in to validate the rate (same with FL residents who have to show proof of residency, AP holders who have to show a valid AP, Active Duty Military discounts that have to show proof of active duty status, etc.) Will everyone be asked to provide this at check-in--in an answer NO. But they are supposed to ask for the proof at check-in. If you have slipped through the cracks and received the discount and did not have to show proof that does not make it a general public discount code.

Please show some respect here on the boards.
