A few weeks back there was a long discussion about people parking at DTD and then going to the parks. I was challenged by Goofy4Tink to actually start at DTD and see how long it actually takes to get to a park from DTD. Should I take her challenge? We are headed to DTD tomorrow and I may do it..... :)

Then again..... maybe I'll just resort hop and drive my car.... lol

Loving this 85 degree Florida weather.....

Park at Fantasia Mini golf.

5 min walk to the swan dolphin boat launch, then 15 mins to the studios or epcot or walk it.

5 min walk to the swan bus station. the 15 mins to any other place in the world.

Point is, is't not crowded. you can catch a bus to the swan from anywhere. and it's FREE!!! $14 x 6 days ads up

DO IT! Being SSR lovers, we just walk on back to the resort to go anywhere from DTD, but let's just see how saavy you are. Would you go to MK? Epcot? DHS? AK? which bus would you take to get there? Does it matter? DO IT!!! and don't worry, you're just missing 40 degree weather back here in MN

Well I know my daughter has done it before -and she even gets free parking anywhere at Disney but I don't have any idea how long it took her.

I know she did it when she was starting at DTD for something and just didn't want to deal with driving.

Oh yes, you really need to do this. It would be interesting to see how long it would take.

Keep a detailed step by step diary with times, including when you got to a bus stop and when the bus came.

This way you can show what the best case time could be, by subtracting out the wait times.

Go for it. But, as already mentioned..we want statistics. So bring your pad and pencil with you. Worst case scenario??? Someone will mistake you for someone important!!! So..you gonna try to get to all 4 parks?? Didn't think so.

This thread is NOT about cheating Disney out of parking fees. Disney will give people info as to how to get from DTD to any desired park. They have no issue with going from DTD to a park. They choose not to run buses. I have heard many opinions as to why...from various sources.
As to parking at other areas....this isn't the place for those discussions. This thread is about parking at DTD and getting to the parks, and 'just how hard is it and how long does it really take?'...period.
This has nothing to do with getting around Disney's rules. Disney CMs as well as bus drivers will all tell you how to get from DTD to a park.

If it's not on video... it didn't happen!! :lmao:

You should really set up a twitter account for this adventure so we can all follow along.

The challenge is for you to drive and other members of your family take Disney transportation. One group should walk over to SSR and take the bus. Another should take a DTD bus to the resort nearest whatever park you'll be visiting.

The final part of the challenge is to see how many attractions you can do while the rest of your family is finding their way over to the park.

sounds like the amazing race:laughing:without any promise of financial payoff

Wow... this sounds like too much work... I think I'll just have a smoothie or an ice cream cone and sit by the water at DTD! Now that is relaxing...... should I tweet about that?

*sitting by the water at DTD
*eating my ice cream now
*still eating my ice cream
*still eating my ice cream
*oh look, a sea gull!
*still eating my ice cream
*now walking into World of Disney......

And on and on and on.... now this is the life!

Ah, but there is a richer reward at hand: Disboards and CLOT GLORY!

:thumbsup2

Well, she just took the proverbial words right outa my mouth!!! CLOT gory...is there anything more important???? Especially for a guy???

Come on buddy...get off that bench, put down the Mickey bar, put away the wallet (you don't need to be buying anything unless, of course, it's for me!!) and get started on your trek.
This is a need to know basis...and we need to know!!.....:mickeybar

It is not looking good...... it is 11:44am and my kids are still in BED! DW is outside getting some sun by the pool and I am sitting here waiting for everyone to be ready. We rented a house off of West 192 and no one is moving. The other family we rented the house with are in Lakeland for the MN Twins vs Detroit Tigers spring training game.......

Looks like a slow day, which is needed anyways. We did Universal on Monday and Wednesday (too busy) and HS/Epcot on Tuesday... today is a needed off day and we are not pushing the kids......

So, doesn't look like my research is going to get done.......... I'll convey the disappointment of the entire transportation board to my kids!

In fact, this is me, RIGHT NOW!!!
