Goofy Support Group (AKA Goofy Challenge 2010)

Mel? Did you get your official Goofy registration confirmed??

AFM: as part of my cross-training I've been taking a kick-butt aquasize class - and tonight was quite a workout. I've been going with my oldest DD, but she had to miss tonight, so she wants me to go with her to the Sat AM class....the things a Mom will do for her kids.....Afterwards though we are going to celebrate with a little lunch/shopping. Nothing like a little retail therapy as a reward for working hard!

How's everyone else doing?

So Jeanne? When are you coming to the crazy :crazy2: side? Susie? You need to work on jeanne next ;) No one is safe Mwah-ha-ha-ha :maleficen

Under normal circumstances I would be right there with you. However, from what I've heard, the NYC marathon is brutal. Part of my psychological training is telling myself that when it's over, IT'S OVER! I couldn't believe that if there was a Goofy on my horizon. I had to choose which one I wanted more and NYC won out. I'm still contemplating Vegas though....or at least until Pat threw me a monkey-wrench about the gun time thingy.

oh Jeanne....come to Vegas! It'll be fun and you'll get a bonus medal.

Hey Everyone!

I think I'm updated to here. If I missed your name please let me know.

My training has been alright. The DW started her training for the RFTT so on top of my runs I've been walking with her and playing my Wii Active. So I've been overdoing it a bit. Have some soreness in my knee so yesterday and today are going to be rest days to see how it goes. Well at least yesterday was. We'll see if I can be good again tonight. :rotfl:

I'm going to have to sign up for a half Marathon soon as I need a short term goal. The RFTT is just not cutting it. :thumbsup2

Mel? Did you get your official Goofy registration confirmed??

Yep, just signing into report I'm official as of today. Now that the excitement (peer pressure) has worn off, I believe I'm officially...:scared1:

Jeanne your officially off the hook since your doing NYC! WOOHOOO!!! How awesome that is going to be, but (there is always a but) you can sing up for the Goofy 2011 with Jen (of the 2008 Full Jen & Mel tag team). I'll commit to the full and well Mel is still in shock I think over 2010 :lmao: So somebuddy has to be mentally and physically set for 2011, we can't leave Jen alone for 39.3 miles! :lmao: One way or another Susie might try to get everyone for 2010 but I'm all for everyone on the Team owning a Goofy :thumbsup2

CHRIS! That is great you two are doing the RFTT! I'm getting double with Ray thanks to his schedule. Today we're out to do 12 miles. Then over the weekend I do miles with Susan and Cathy then again with Ray. Some days I have the occassional cranky knee/hamstring. But it's great to have the added company :thumbsup2 Maybe 2011 she'll go for Donald, Mickey or  Goofy! I'm hoping 2011 will see Ray crossing a Disney finish line too.

MEL!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :cheer2: :cheer2: :woohoo: :woohoo: IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!! YAY!!!!

JEANNE? I forgot to ask last night, WHEN THE DATE?!?!?!? :woohoo:

Happy safe training all!!!!

OMG, Goofy in 2011????? I can see you guys are not going to let me retire my WISH shirt! There's no way I can think of that now. I'm sure Jen will not be alone.......somebody else will be nuts enough to sign up for 39.3 miles of fun. :scared1::scared1: You can work on Tracy and Bubba for 2011! :thumbsup2

Diane: no date yet, but we'll know soon. They are hoping for something next spring which doesn't give a whole lot of time to prepare.

Mel: You can do it! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Hooray! Mel's official! There's no backing out now.

And you know, Jeanne, if by chance you had a really good NYC, either Anthony or Marathon would probably still have a couple of Goofy slots still available...

Chris - Rest days are a good thing. It's too early to be overdoing it!

We have a 12 mile LR on tap for this weekend. Might try to do another hike/walk on Sunday as part of our early back-to-backs.

Jackie

Ha,ha....wishful thinking, Jackie. I actually thought about that but we are booked at BLT (which I am dying to stay at) and the way our banking window works, I wouldn't be able to cancel it in November.
So when I say I'm not gonna do it, I'M NOT GONNA DO IT!!!!!!! I'll just salivate when I see you guys walking around with your cool 3 medals! :worship::worship::worship: (See, I can't even pull myself away from this thread!)

Jeanne: Oh you know you won't be able to pull yourself way from the Goofy. Three medals....It would be a capper to the NYC victory. If not this year, next year...

Erica: I didn't realize you were going Goofy this year. What fun!!

Mel: So glad to hear it's official.

I'm still around, still trying to jury rig a training plan. Just been having some motivational issues. I think I may be in denial about the whole Goofy thing. Deep denial. Good thing I have the Baltimore 1/2 to look forward to. (Did I just say that.... :rolleyes1)

quick questions...what is the mfm training plan? Marathon for Mortals? is that by Bingham?

yep...apparently they've come up with a training plan for Goofy but it's $40 to download.

LOL That cracked me up! What do we expect? they dangle an Anniv medal in front of us & Susie is plotting a WISH takeover on the Goofy but of course it's shrinking! LMBO Sure you can lurk and not-so-lurk! Heck I am not-so-quiet over on the Volunteer/support thread :lmao:

YAY!!!!!!!!! She got the bling :bride:!!!!! Wooohoooo!!!! Congrats Jeanne!!! Anything for a friend! I'll just be at the park tomorrow running off that meal :lmao:

So Jeanne? When are you coming to the crazy :crazy2: side? Susie? You need to work on jeanne next ;) No one is safe Mwah-ha-ha-ha :maleficen

I think we're going to have to work on Jeanne very carefully. She says there is NO WAY she is going to do the Goofy. This only means that we'll have to be a little sneaky and more creative in our persuasion. :rolleyes1

The Goofy is to be respected but not feared. Getting up 2 mornings in a row with little sleep or rest is to be respected. It seems easy but that last 10K will kick your butt. Experience rules over medal cravings! Train well and smart!

Jeanne: no need to pull yoursself away from the thread, we like you here:hug: plus, I need to know there will be scream teaming, I'm gonna need it

I'm officially starting to :scared1: over the whole thing. I'm super excite to be staying at BLT and running but I've had a few rough runs the past week that make me question the sanity of signing up for this thing. I'm trying to take it one day at a time and not panic-- gotta get through thte DL 1/2 and Philia ING first...

With 6 months to go you have plenty of time to train right or train wrong and end up injured in Jan. Take a deep breath and a week off if things aren't right. Those plans that are on paper are guides but listen to your body!

Jeanne...stick around. Your experience is valuable to us newbies!

Anyone else doing Princess after Goofy? I'm wondering how much time I can take off after Goofy and still be ready for Princess.

I thought I was a newbie myself! Robert, Wendy, Lily are the experienced ones. I like what Robert said about respecting the event without fearing it. I respect the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge a WHOLE LOT! :worship::worship::worship: I've got a new mantra I play in my head when the going gets rough: "Do the thing you think you cannot" I just keep saying that over and over until I've reached the top of the hill or overcome another obstacle.

No Princess for me next year. We have a spring wedding to plan! This year I only had one 4-mile walk between the marathon and the Princess. I finished OK, but I could tell my endurance wasn't what it should have been. The last 2-3 miles were really tough.

Erica: I didn't realize you were going Goofy this year. What fun!!

Actually I am teetering on the brink of going Dopey...need to make a decision pretty soon, I guess!

Jeanne: The only thing to fear about the Verrazanno is the basis for its affectionate nickname -- the world's longest urinal. You will get an eyful waiting for the start thanks to all those male runners with pre-race jitters!:scared1: Oh and for your plannign purposes, I will be at the foot of the 59th street bridge (and feeling groovy), wearing my WISH shirt and ready with a supply of Gu, sportsbeans, licorice whips, or whatever is your heart's pleasure. Just let me know!!

Hope everyone is having a lot of fun getting trained to train, or whatever we're supposed to be doing right now.:rotfl2: You can see that I need a serious kick in the motivation department. I'm busy doing my Scarlet O'Hara impression --I'll think about it the Goofy tomorrow....
