Goofy Support Group (AKA Goofy Challenge 2010)

My 18 miler today just about killed me. Unsure about 26 miles, let alone 39!

But I am not down...my 9/16 back to back runs last weekend went well! Must just be having one of those days.

Hi everyone -

I inadvertently mapped out an absurdly hilly 14-miler for today's run, but DH and I managed to get through it. Next week we're going down to Disneyland to celebrate our anniversary so are happily taking a light weekend -- rather than a 4 on Saturday and an 8 on Sunday, we'll do 6 on whichever day we decide to get up early. Great work everyone!

Hey Goofy Runners,

I got 16 miles in on Friday and another 6 on Sunday, but still not a back to back. I did get two 4 milers back to back last week, but I'm hoping to get in a longer back to back this week.

I got in 8 miles on thursday and 15 on saturday. Both went well. Except on my LR on saturday I got a little creeped out. I was in a quiet neighborhood and up ahead a truck stopped at a stop sign and then stayed there. I looked in the truck and there were 2 burly looking men. I had to run by them or turn around so I ran by. Right as I passed the passenger side, the guy opened the door and got out. I bolted, grabbed my pepper spray out of my pocket and popped it open while yanking my earbud out of my other ear (so I could hear approaching footsteps). I ran up around the corner and into someone's driveway and then turned around and did not see anyone. I was a bit freaked for the rest of the run (and this was mile 10 so I still had 5 to go). I later passed the truck again, but this time it was empty and on a different street and I memorized the license plate.

Anyway, a reminder to all to stay alert and be safe while out running!

Got in my miles over the weekend.

Thursday (11/5) did 12.65miles. Didn't look at the time/pace since I finished IN THE DARK! lol My husband followed me for the final 2 miles shining the light ahead or driving up ahead of me to wait. I went the final 4 miles with NO ONE around me! As in the last person I saw on the trail was at mile 8. aFter that only a fisherman and a cyclist at like mile 9.25 I think. Kinda freaky!

Saturday - 10 miles. Got to walk with the walking Dude! for 4 miles then he had enough and I finished my last 4 miles again ending in the dark but thanks to less clouds not as dark. I think I was able to make out my hand in front of my face :lmao:

2 days of raking leaves rounds out my 4 days. Did do the gym last week too. Heading to the gym tonight again.

Knocking on wood I'm giving a 16 miler an attempt this weekend and then moving on from there. Everything seems to be better from that nasty weekend a few weeks back. Fingers crossed!

Keep up the good work everyone! Healthy strong PD thought all around!

Jeanne - Loved your report! Great Job!

Diane - What a nice DH you have!

Chris - That seems to be what I am doing for my back to backs. I can't seem to get them on literally back to back

Susie - I am jealous of all the races you re doing! I wish I could find that many to do.

MiaBanda - sorry you had a tough one - WTG on getting 18 done tho!!

Sunstress - happy anniversary!! Have fun in DL :cheer2:

Lily - yay on the weight loss! I never seem to lose weight when training. I think I actually put a little on :rotfl:

This was a back off week so I had 11 scheduled on Sat. But I had minor outpatient surgery on Thurs afternoon so I did my 11 on Thursday. So glad I did because I felt like crap this weekend. Seem to have caught a cold while I was recovering.

Had 8 tonight but that was not to be. I cross train tomorrow then I'll do my 8 on Wednesday since I have the day off. I am scheduled for 17 this weekend. So instead of my 8 Fri 17 Sat I'll just do 5 on Fri then the 17 on Sat. I don't want to push it. This will be my longest run since the Disney Marathon.

hang in there all, we are getting closer!

Duane

Michelle, sorry about those killer 18 miles. It's done! Yay for you!

Becky, yeah, go figure. I usually start to gain wait while Goofy training as the miles ramp up and wonder if it will happen yet again. I'm liking the temporary loss at any rate. I know I really need it. Egad on the experience you had. Thanks for the reminder.

Diane, you have the bestest DH for being there with you. Here's hoping your 16 miles are done in daylight and are much better.

Duane, sorry about your notsogood weekend. Hope you feel better and that you can get in some rest.

Kim, Hi!

Seattle Sunny, Happy Anniversary! Enjoy your celebration run! Sounds like a great place to be.

Got some moving done since it was nice out I'm there. Strolled with Kirby Dog.

Michelle! YAY on the 18 miles!

Happy Annv Seattle Sunny!

Duane I hope your cold departs ASAP! Feel better :wizard:

Hit the gym tonight. 5 miles on the bike 1st as I won't do it otherwise. Followed by the core/weights which I have to say are more for tone than to look like Popeye ;) and my 2 mile TM jog. Got to meet up with a lady I rarely see these days since we go at different times. So I am very happy I made the gym tonight :)

This past weekend was crazy busy. Doing the miles, the leaves and I did a couple of classes. Scrapbook and watched someone cook at a local store. Doing the same this weekend. :woohoo: I was almost happy to go to work just so I could rest LOL

DH is great. He'd rather be walking and doing miles but has brought his laptop to the park and with me being out late this weekend and less people he has started to track my phone again like those commercials for tracking the kids:) So I'd hear my phone chirp whenever he'd ping me. Which made me laugh. I AM going out earlier this weekend. I just planned this past weekend badly with errands and forgetting the time change.

Hope the week treats everyone well!

Still following my using-races-to-train plan. Did Sunday's OBX marathon (with an 8K race the day before, so a small back-to-back). Too slow for Disney, I'm afraid -- I'm not stressed about it, but I realized that the extra weight I'm carrying this year is definitely affecting my times. I've done far more training this year than in previous years and I'm still slower. I have got to get serious about weight loss. I am doing well and eating better for 5 days out of 7 -- and that's not giving me the weight loss I need.

You guys are doing some amazing training. I also need to find more time for the boards so you can continue to inspire me.

Taking a couple of rest days to recovery from OBX, but I'll be back on the TM tomorrow.

Hi everyone!

Well training is going OK but still dealing with heel pain. Hard balance between training enough and not over training it.

We are getting closer, 2 months today till Mickey:scared1: but hey what is 26.2 M cause then we will all be sporting some pretty shiney medals:grouphug:

Wendy I hear you on the trying to find time to visit the boards more. By the time I sat down this past weekend I was so tired that I pretty much stared at the tv or computer and didn't compute LOL

Kim funny that you say 2 months because I was going to ask last night .... 'so how many weeks?' :scared1: I did a quick check at the countdown in days and YIKES! Hope the heel pain gets better soon.

Happy Tuesday! I'll "see" everyone on the TMs tonight for our usual Biggest Loser viewing ;) LOL

50 min TM done

Will be on the TM tonight during BL.

Have a great day everyone.

Wow Wendy - you are a machine. I can't believe you logged in yet another marathon. That is so AWESOME.

Duane - hope you are on the mend soon.

Sounds like everyone is doing good with their training. As for me I haven't been feeling too good about my training recently but I still have hope. I have been wimping out on my long milage back to back runs and have been cutting them short or I decided to ride my bike. Well Saturday I rode my bike 9 miles and then I didn't end up doing my 10 miles on Sunday. I feel good though because I knew I needed to get it in so when I got home from work last night I got on the treadmill and got moving. I was happy I didn't cut it short like I wanted to. I stuck it out and got in all 10 miles. The back of my leg is a little sore today but it should be ok. I am planning on getting on the TM again tonight during BL but I will probably just walk.

Happy Tuesday!!

Pat and Diane, I will be there with you on the TM tonight for BL. Tuesday is my hill workout. Hope it goes okay...I have been having some odd pain in my knee caps...:confused3

Tricia excellent work on getting in the 10 miles! :woohoo:

Did 3.5 miles "with you all" on the TM last night, though I wasn't able to watch biggest loser :( Our satellite connection was out or choppy. Some channels came in others didn't and that was one that didn't. Did the catch the end when I got home. Bummed they were kicked off but happy they are both still doing well and getting it down at home.

Gym again tonight!

Christine I hope that knee pain goes away.

Wow - you all are doing VERY well with training!

Becky - you are SO right about being careful. Stay safe, everyone.

Wendy....amazing. Hopefully you will wait after you cross the finish line in January to cheer for some of us slowpokes!

My training is going okay - since it seems like I'm always pushing beyond "tired" - I'm thinking progress is being made. I tend to spend two hours on the bike rather than the TM, and that's probably not so smart. I just keep on keeping on.

The Seattle Marathon is coming up - I'm just doing the half (too chicken for a full quite yet) and I'm trying to make sure I'm ready - as this is the one that I'll be trying for a really good time.

Keep up the good work!

Terri

Hi All,
you sound like you are doing great! Keep it up.

I finally got out after surgery last week and being sick. Six short miles but it was tough. Considering I was getting tired just walking to the kitchen I did OK. I have 8 on Friday and 17 on Saturday. Might cut back the 8 but I will do the 17. I'll make it.

hang in there everyone!
Duane
