Not necessarily directly Goofy related, but my credit card charge for 2009 marathon weekend registration just went through. I mailed in my registration 3 weeks ago. Its possible that the jump could be that they begin entering the mail-in applications about this time each year (after taking a post marathon break).
What an inspiration you all are! I just completed the Full Marathon at WDW, which was my 2nd marathon. During that time, I met some great people from this site so I was inspired to join.
Colleen (Theta)...if you're out there...it's Angela from the Port Orleans Riverside boat & Pleasure Island.
Training alone isn't exactly fun so I'll be drawing energy from you guys and gals. Anyway, here's to a great year of running and a potential Goofy racer (still debating)!
Angela, DH and I were there at PI to meet you too! I'm glad you've joined in. Join in on the weekly walker/runner thread and get to know everyone there. That is pretty much the main thread then there are some smaller splinter groups to help you get to know folks too.
So how many Goofy WISH Teammates are we and I wonder if anyone else will get to slide in.
I looked online and they still haven't cashed my check for the half, which is now $65 full. Should I be concerned? I mailed it in for the DVC discount...

Hey guys - i'm sooooo jealous, I'm actually glad I'm not in the US or I know I wouldn't be able to resist entering now (and I've said more than once 'glad I did it, never doing it again.' but there's that little voice......).
Which brings me to why I'm chiming in here. Just my experience of my goofy training, I did all of my weekend runs back to back from day one, the sat run half the distance of the Sunday and I'm not sure if it was because I was running half marathons early in the schedule (ie week 4-5) so I'd been running distance for virtually the whole training time, but by the end of the 20 weeks I was SO sick of it.
I wasn't physically tired, but emotionally.By the last training run, if I never ran again it would be too soon and I think it was that constant knowing that Saturday may have been done but here comes Sunday again with no let up.
If I ever do Goofy again, I will either alternate backs to backs keeping them for build up weeks and drop back on 'rest' weeks, or I'll dump them totally until I reach say 13 mile long runs so they're still pretty fresh by the 11/22 week. Just my 2c, but it was the lesson I really learnt this time so thought I'd pass it on.

Don't feel so bad, I am getting concerned too. I mailed mine I think a day or two after you so I figure by the end of this week I will send out an email to see if they have it.
I am a worrier too when it comes to things like these.
I too had promised myself and family that I would not do the Goofy next year. Then I heard that a friend (keenho), who had also made a similar promise, had signed up. I thought about it for nearly 30 seconds and then hit the active registration site.

That is great advice! Like this year, I am planning a long ramp up in long run and total miles, but I think I will follow your guidance and split up the back to back longs to every other week. Like you, I was physically okay, but I started having trouble wrapping my brain around two long runs week after week.
Hopefully, I'll still be able to register. I was entering my credit card info to pay and active.com froze up and kicked me off. (Anyone else have problems with active.com?!)
Anyway, I went back in and got a message that Goofy is full and I can't register. I sent an email to the powers that be at emmi so we'll see what happens.
