Goodings Grocery Delivery Question

Hi,
We're staying at BCV next month and would like to know what is done with groceries from Gooding's if they're delivered before the room is ready, or if we haven't yet arrived?
Some of the groceries will need to be refridgerated.

We'd like them to be delivered between around 4pm on our arrival day, but not sure if Gooding's is that flexible.

I suppose it would be less expensive to stop by Winn Dixie or Publix on our way down (we're driving from NJ), but we're just going to bite the bullet on this one and go with Gooding's.

Thanks,
Mark

Why not just order the non-perishables to be delivered and then make a very quick stop for milk, etc.? That way, you wouldn't have to worry about the delivery getting there before you..? You could either place the grocery order with Goodings or I have used NetGrocer in the past.....

Just a thought.

I am pretty sure they will deliver them after check-in time, roughly 5-6 PM, and will be kept cold in the Goodings van on their way to you. Furthermore, I expect that the CMs have done lots of this before and have someplace to keep perishables cold. You should probably call the folks at Goodings and ask how it works and they can assuage your concerns.

good luck

FYI....Goodings will cost you an arm and a leg. They are ridiculously overpriced. We stick with WInn-Dixie or Publix. I don't think either deliver. There is a service called available at www.wegoshop.com and you can give them your grocery list (including meat, dairy, perishables) and they will shop and deliver for you. Check out the website.

I have to agree with Shelbyjosh.

DH and I stopped at Goodings but after feeling like I was being held up at gunpoint, I made him put all the items in the basket back and we drove over to Publix.

We could NOT get a bottle of soda, ANY brand for less than $1.79 there. Sorry, but I'm not one who can use the "but I'm on vacation" excuse to pay through the nose for common items that I know I can get a lot cheaper somewhere close by.

Also FYI- The Crossroads was charging .25 more per gallon of gas than gas stations in Kissimmee right near Celebration.

Since our trip, I'm now afraid to go NEAR the Crossroads for fear of getting robbed.:scared1:

shelbyjosh, have you used the WeGoShop service?? It looked good on their web page and I saw it mentioned by couple people liked it on another board. I would love to hear more about this service for next time!

Have a great trip!:Pinkbounc

I assume with grocery delivery you must take the room that they assign you if the groceries arrive before you check-in.

Can you call to verify what room they are going to give you?

We won't arrive until close to 7pm and would like to call earlier in the day to see about our room. And since we are arriving so late would love to have the groceries already there.

Anyone had experience with this?

Northwoods - some time ago I remember that you could have Disney purchase your groceries (yes, the prices were high), and they would put them in your room. You might call MS to inquire.

It would be worth inquiring, for the various delivery options, which ones lead to the food actually being either stored under refrigeration or put into your room. I've heard about people who had to sit in their rooms and wait for the delivery when they wanted to go to the parks, but I don't know what the circumstances were.

I looked at the wegoshop web site. It looks like you have to be there for the delivery, but maybe not. Anyone know if they can leave the groceries in your room?

No, I have not used them. I did receive an email from them about their services. Did you read the Q&As? What did it say about delivery? I would think your resort could hold and refigerate items just like when you check-in and your room is not ready. If in doubt, give them a call!!

Just a quick note.

When we made our first trip 'home', we had some perishables that we needed put away because our check-in time was going to be around 4pm and we had arrived at OKW at around 8am. So, they stored them in a refrigerator that they have behind the front desk area. Just ask them about it and they'll hold your stuff for you while your room gets ready.

I'm not sure about the other resorts, but I know that OKW has this available. That way, you can purchase some groceries beforehand and have them ready for you when you return to the resort.

you can have disney get the groceries for you, prices look comparable to goodings, check the dvc website.

Yes, but the items are limited. They are shopping at a grocery store, not at the resort store!!

Er, wouldn't you have had to purchase them if they had you at gunpoint? :teeth:

We've gone to the Super Wallyworld on 192 as well the Publix and Goodings. While Goodings is more expensive, it is convenient didn't have the lines of locals and non-property WDW visitors that the stores near/on 192 had. I'd pay a few bucks more for a more pleasant trip and shorter lines...especially compared to Super WallyWorld.

We'd order from the resort store, but as mentioned, it's limited in what it offers.
