Good wishes, prayers for always quiet's DH, Dennis, cancer surgery this AM

Just thought I would ask to remember Colleen's hubby, Dennis, who is having his cancer surgery this morning. Additionally, Colleen indicated she will be involved with Dennis' work today also, trying to secure that for the future, what with the anticipated time off for Dennis. Please remember Dennis, Colleen and family in your good wishes and thoughts, prayers too, if you do those.

Oh gosh, guys, THANK YOU so much! We got home a little bit ago. Dennis is sleeping on some serious pain meds. They did get the stomach tube inserted today and performed the endoscopy to have a good look around. They, however, did not remove the tonsil. The doctor said the cancer on the tonsil was "higher up" than he initially thought and when he removes some of the surrounding tissue to make sure he gets it all, it will involve the soft palate. He didn't want to get into all that today. We now have an appointment on Wed. with the doctor and the remainder of the surgery (including removing the tonsil, part of the soft palate, reconstructing the soft palate AND removing the lymph node) will all be completed next Tues. This will be a 5 day hospital stay. He also is recommending DAILY radiation for 5 to 7 weeks, followed by chemo. On the good news end of this, it is VERY LOCALIZED and is very optimistic! The road is going to be rough, and I am now making the official announcement.............Disney is now postponed............

I now have to call his employer and see what the heck is going on with them. His sister was with me today and I didn't want to get into all that with her sitting next to me.
