I just needed some thought from people about visiting Orlando in September. I'm aware that its the beginning of hurricane season but have I got much chance of running into the Free Dining crowds in the first 2 weeks of september? I was also thinking whether I could try and convince my mum on a cheap 3 night cruise in september since its cheaper than a hotel room! (But she'll probably say no)

There was the thought of going the last two weeks of June, just after I finish my exams, but I heard thats when the kids come of american schools. It's the same price, but I don't know. June also might make it harder for me to get a summer job.

Any thoughts?

I think crowd levels are difficult to predict, we go late August when it's usually not too bad , however the DDP has affected it slightly and we find it's busier because of this.

Late June you are right the US schools will be on holiday then but despite that July certainly is busier and hotter too.

I don't think either time is one of the best times to go, but not the worst also.
I reckon weather wise and crowd wise will be about the same.

Free dining is on in September, but all the kids our back at school. Agree with Johnny, that both will be similar.

we went September during free dining last year first two weeks and we found it fine. Most of the time the queues were low, rides like soarin and test track seem to get big queues in the afternoon (about 45minutes) and Magic Kingdom was busy on nights when spectromagic and wishes were on(Splash Mountain queues about 45min). The weather was still very hot, about 95 and they was some heavy thunderstorms in the afternoon however it has not put us off as we are going the same two weeks this year and we don't have free dining..:thumbsup2

That doesn't seem too bad, that's what we got used to on our first trip last year (last two weeks in august). We'll probably be there at the same time then! I only asked about free dining as I heard the crowds can increase from it, since we won't be staying onsite anyway, the actual free dining won't affect us.

For the last two years I've been in the last two weeks of September. Crowd levels were definately higher the second time because of free dining but still totally managable plus you can go to MNSSHP!

we fly out on 28th aug for 2 weeks for our wedding, hurricane dont bother us as we were there a few years back when ivan and jeane went over florida. Disney were great with jeanne.

We are getting married on 2nd sep

we got evactuated from st petes to stay at the marriot world centre drive and it was great!! much better than our hotel in st petes!!

For the last 3 year we have been in september and are going again this year september 20th at CBR with free dining, it is definitly busier since Free dining (especially weekends) but not to bad queue levels are ok, we found when we went in april it was a lot busier.

Just a thought on the "hurricane" season,it actually starts in May ending in November although the last few big ones have hit Florida in Aug/Sept,we were there thru' Hurricane Jeanne & the weather before & after was some of the best that we have had!
SD:thumbsup2

Thanks guys for your input. Crazy thing is, depending on whose actually going, we could be going on a disney cruise as well!!!!! Although I want DSi's DBf to go, if he doesn't, we're going DCL'ing!!!

We always go the second week in September and it's great, still very warm, crowds are very low - especially if you stay out of parks at the weekend when the locals are out and about.

I remember last timw we visited MGM Studios, all the rides were walk on, it was that quiet - I just kep getting off the Rock N Roll coaster, walking back round and jumping stright back on.

We stayed at the Hard Rock and some days I got up just strolled over to Universal, and allied with my FOTL pass waited for nothing.
