My prayers are with the family and James.We had a neighbor several years ago that was riding his motorcycle and had an accident. He was going around a stopped delivery truck and somehow caught the back bumper. He lost the lower leg immediately. He did get a prosthisis and within a short time was right back out there riding again. He also played ball and did alot of things like that with his kids. His walk was a little different, but that was all. It all depends on the attitude of the person involved. His answer to everyone saying how sorry they were was ..."Don't be sorry, I have another leg and I am alive!"

Thank you SO MUCH Chager for your reply. I dont know if James' family has had a chance to read this thread yet - I know they will and I think they will find some comfort in you sharing what happened to your neighbor. Thank you.

First surgery is scheduled for this Friday, they will be doing the amputation. If after a week he is doing okay they will proceed with the hip surgery.

He is in pretty good spirits so that is good but I am sure he is holding it more together for his family.

I will update you all after the surgery and let you know how it went. Thanks guys.
