I've been worried that early Dec. would be more crowded this year- hurricanes, pop warner cheerleaders, Dec. getting more crowded every year. So, I decided to check availability according to the website. For the dates Dec. 5-11 (pop warner cheerleader's dates and the dates we are going), there were several offers- POR, POFQ, Coronado Springs, Pop Century( I believe). Anyway, it still may be a bit more crowded- but this made me feel some better!!!
Now, if it would hurry up and get here!!

tink2 - Looks like we are going at exactly the same time! I was wondering the same thing, but since this is my first trip in Dec. I had nothing to compare it to. Even if its more crowded than normal, it can't be as bad as the time of year I usually go. I might get spoiled with this trip!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! great picture!

That makes me happy happy happy! When I originally was booking, everything seemed pretty booked up. Now I can say I leave next month!

Well, I did the same thing except I hardly came across any availability in deluxes. I am nervous if everything is so booked it will be busy. We are going Dec 3-11.

sista- I just did the same thing for deluxe resorts and got AKL, Beach Club, and Boardwalk offered- I didn't check any more. Maybe you didn't get any offered b/c the 3rd and 4th are Fri and Sat nights. Here's hoping for low crowds!!!

I'm getting nervous too-having been in December 3 previous times and loving the "quiet", my friend just informed me that if her DD wins one more cheerleading competition, they'll be heading down that same week(pop warner).... but she told me that they'll be so busy with making appearances at Sea World and other locations that they won't have time to really "tour" the parks... hoping that's the case since we purposely chose early December to beat the crowds!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: ::yes::

when exactly is the cheerleading competition?

we'll be up there dec 10 - 14...hopin to get atleast medium crowds if not low :D

Pop Warner is Dec 5 to 11. It's both junior football and cheerleaders (ages 5 to 16). It's held at Wide World of Sports. It most affects those staying at All Stars because that is where they stay. It doesn't have a big affect on park attendance.

I've gone around this time the past 6 years. The weekends are usually crowded but the weekdays are not.

Looks like there will be a lot of us at WDW around the same time. We will be there 12/5-12/9. This is also our first December trip so I was worried about the crowds and weather. Coming from Buffalo, I'm really hoping for some warm days.

Michele

:D We were at WDW last year during Pop Warner and didn't see any visible affects at any of the parks. We stayed at POR and it was very quiet. This 12/3 - 12/7 we will be at the POP Century aren't expecting any outrageous crowds.:D

After going in July and August in the past any crowds seem smaller!!!!

Hi there disneyfanatic60. It's good to see that other Western New Yorkers will be down there with me and my family. We're leaving Dec 3rd for 8 days and staying at Shades of Green. Can't wait to see the renovations to the resort. Maybe I'll see you down there. - Mike

There is a lot of us! BF and I will be ther Dec. 3 to 11. If you check out Zurgswife's official December list on the Theme Park Attractions/Stratagies board, the number of DISer's going is huge!

I'm more worried about the weather than crowds. I'm from Chicago, I want it to be WARM when I go!

Heres to low crowds and nice weather!!!:Pinkbounc

Either way weather-wise - it will be like a heatwave compared to where we live! It is below zero on average for December. I'd take 50. We'd be the only fools in the pool! ::yes:: :Pinkbounc

Well, it looks like it will be very, very crowded. I am local and just tried to book for December 10th ... there are NO disney hotels available ... none ... zilch. I had to book SOG, which is fine with me .... but I've never had a problem this time of the year, so this is making me nervous.

I wonder if two of the downtown Disney hotels being closed due to hurricane damage/renovations has had anything to do with availability (especially on the weekends) at the other Disney hotels? I just tried to book on the Disney site a room at any hotel on property for Dec. 3-11 and it gave me 3 choices (including several moderates). I wonder if they have rooms held for "blocks" of time vs. just one night stays? Also if the Pop Warner kids are there, but don't affect the crowds at the parks, I'm still holding out that the crowds will be low. Keeping my fingers crossed anyway for our first ever WDW trip!

Mousefest is also going on that week and lots of folks from the different Disney boards are attending, so I think that will be some of the crowds. December 9-12 is especially busy and very hard to get a room that weekend.

I was hoping for quieter days as well, but the parks are large and this is only the Disney resorts that are booked, so maybe it will be fine:)

We can all toast one another since we'll be at least overlapping some days!!!

Merry Christmas to all!

I booked this week for Dec. 10-13. The CM was shocked at there being such limited availability. Granted I was looking for a CM discounted room. I got the ONLY room available for my timeframe that was affordable. The only thing showing was the high-dollar suites. I was hoping for CR or WL or AKL. The CM said that it's suppose to be a slow time, but looks like that weekend will be extremely busy. Guess I'll be at the A/S with the cheerleaders, at least one night. I'll continue to keep checking back. The website shows availability for values and moderates, but at rack rate. You can keep trying up to the last day and if you change your ressie, they will transfer the deposit.
