I already have my Teva pretty rugged sandals from our last summer trip and wore them everyday with no problems. They were great! I will be bringing them again for our December trip because I know some days may be warm enough to wear sandals, but what about if it gets cold on some days and nights; what are your recommendations for a good pair of shoes?? I want to buy them now so I can break them in well before our trip. TIA for all your tips! :thumbsup2

CROCS are hot right now...I like the flip flops best, as my feet don't sweat in them.

Because of people dealing with Plantar Fascitis, I'd also rec a shoe with at least a 1inch high heel. I don't get bothered with PF but I've worn wedgie type shoes for a long time (tho they can kill your ankle if you are prone to twisting them!

If you have really comfy gel or spongy sneakers, they too are a safe bet.
I try my Disney shoes out on my treadmill. Walk 3 miles and see how your feet feel. If they feel ok...then take em with ya!

By all means take several pairs of shoes and switch out at least every day. I sometimes switch shoes after our midday 'break' too.

Hurting feet just ain't fun.

Get a pair of shoes that allow the sweat to dry and get off of you. That saves tons of blisters.

I prefer well broken in sandals. I have a pair of Timberlands and I love Merrells. A light pair of tennis shoes may work if they are broken in well.

Last December I wore Tevas, Dansko clogs & Crocs. I also had a pair of Reiker dress shoes for nice dinners. My Tevas get the most Parktime, year-round. Danskos are a new discovery for me. I just love them & wear them whenever the weather turns colder than sandals will handle. I got my first & only WDW blister from Croc Niles (April 2005) & have been hesitant to Croc it much in the Parks since them, even tho my Beaches have never caused me grief.

Other December trips have been Tevas & New Balance sneakers.

I have been thinking about the same thing, as we are going in early December. Last year, before a trip to Europe, I found a pair of shoes in Kmart called "Safetrax." They are made for people who work on their feet all day, like factory workers and wait staff. They are very plain black, slip-on loafers, with stretchy fabric where the top meets the sides so they are no problem to slip on. They have a rubber sole, and I think they look great with jeans. (I am not able to pull off jeans and running shoes, I have short legs and this makes them look even stumpier.)

I wore the Safetrax for two straight weeks, every day, walking around five cities in Europe, on cobblestone streets, on trains, trolleys, etc. I had absolutely no problems, and my husband wore New Balance and complained every night. Plus, I know they are water resistant after a few rain showers caught us.

Now I will say, we were in some colder climates, and I wore them with nice thick wool socks most days, but also with thinner trouser socks, which I would probably do in WDW. But the wool socks wicked away all perspiration and worked great. My feet were nice and warm. But I can see how these won't be everyone's cup of tea, especially if you are used to sandals at the parks. They just work so well for me, and my feet are always cold.

I'm a fan of New Balance sneakers. They've never caused my feet to hurt. I got blisters last time from my socks! I bought new socks for the trip and they rubbed the wrong way on my little toes. So if you do sneaks and socks, make sure your socks are comfy for lots of walking, too!

How about socks with the Tevas? Even though my SiL wants to DIE ;) when she sees me do it, it keeps the tootsies warm.

Or a good pair of walking sneakers will do well. Just go into foot locker--or sports authority and have them fit you and offer advice!

Last Dec my mom and I both bought a couple of pairs of the Croc Aspens. They were great. In fact the Aspens are my favorite of all my Crocs (and I own 1 Beach, 2 Niles, and 2 Athens in addition to the 2 pair of Aspens). I wear my Aspens to work almost every day.

I also carried my Teva Mush flip flops last Dec, but it was too cold to wear them while we were down there.

Try Crocs....no socks when it's warm and some socks when it's cold
These are the ONLY sandals I wear with socks... :cool1:

I don't like Crocs, but that's just me.

Tevas, sneakers and flip-flops work well, and, if you like them, any CROC you like. -yuck!-

Thanks for all the replies. I tried on a pair of Crocs and I personally don't like them. They just seem to wide for my feet and I didn't like the feel. That's just me! But, I do own a pair of Tevas sandals and I love them. My husband owns a pair of New Balance and he's a nurse so walks in them all day and he likes them. I might look into a pair of those. Thanks again! :thumbsup2

I just purchased a pair of Dansko Professional Clogs to wear for out December trip. I have talked to many people in Disney who were wearing them and all had great things to say about their comfort. I have been wearing them at home to get them broken in and even brand new they are very comfortable.
