I'm looking for a safe, clean hotel for an overnight stop between Chicago and Indy. Any recommendations?

When I use to have to travel that way for business, I would stay at the Baymont in Lafayette. There was also a real budget place behind Cracker Barrel that had a yellow sign that had a light dinner and breakfast that for a budget place it was really clean and I always felt safe as a woman traveling alone.

Idk what exit number is but where 65 and 26 meet there are a bunch of hotels in Lafayette. It might be sane exit the Poster above is talking about. There are a few right off the exit and many places to eat.

Thanks. I'll check it out. I forgot to say we'll be traveling on I65. :)

I was also going to suggest somewhere in Lafayette. As long as it is not a big football weekend (homegame at Purdue) you should have plenty of options for a decent price.

OK, to be clear, Chicago to Indy is only a 3 hour drive. But assuming that's not your drive, I'll give you an answer.

Lafayette, IN is 2 hours from Chicago and an hour from Indy. That's the biggest city on I-65 between the two.

Remington, IN is halfway in between, but there's really nothing there.

I can completely vouch for no reason to stop in Remington, IN. I go there once a year to see my FIL.

OP, not sure if you're driving to Indy or Chicago but if going to Chicago, Valparaiso has tons of hotels on their exits with lots of nice restaurants. I usually take the Valp exit and cut up that way through to IL anyways when not in the mood to fight the interstate.

Chicago is already four hours into our drive on our way to Asheville.

Chiming in here. I was born/raised in the Southern Chicago suburbs/Northwest Indiana and went to Purdue in West Lafayette. I used to make this drive more times that I can count. The issue with either Lafayette or Valparaiso are they are both very close to either end of the drive, not in the middle. Another place to stop would be along I-65 at the Rennselaer exits, as there has been some development at these exits in recent years as well.

Check Trip Advisor.

Edit to add.... you know it's only a three hour trip between the two give or take exactly where you're leaving Chicago and arriving in Indy.

Go to tripadvisor there are a bunch of hotels to choose from. Homewood suites by Hilton is the number 1 rated hotel. There is also a courtyard marriott with good reviews.
