Good place for bra fitting

Yeah, I'm definitely in the pro-Nordstrom camp as far as fittings go.

I'm small chested and go braless as often as I can, but definitely cannot when wearing a single layer in public. I feel like I am in between cup sizes (A and B) since A's are too small and I have extra fabric in B's. Would I have the same luck at some of these places?

TIA!

I don't know if it would work since I don't think they carry half sizes, but I get a lot of my bras at Aerie (essentially American Eagle's underwear line) because they carry some smaller sizes. I'm a 32C and I've found them in the actual Aerie stores (usually most stores tell me they only have them online if they have them at all). Plus I got tired of paying $80 per bra, they're like $20-30 at Aerie and if you get their discount card it's buy 4 get one free. If there's one around you you might want to check it out.

I go to lane bryant and get fitted there but then i go to fashion bug and get my bras there. they are owned by the same company carry the same bras but fasion bug is half the price alot of time buy 2 get one free(mine are usually 25 each not 48 each) I get the balconette bra its great doesnt pinch and keeps the girls where they should be.....btw they are one sale right now buy 2 get 1 free

I took my daughter there over the weekend. When I measured her she was 38dd. They said 36DD which is OK but they didn't have any bra's in that size. She did try a 38DD and said that it fit but they only had the one so couldn't try on any of the other styles. This store is about 30 miles away and they told me the other store had more. I called them up and they have a few but not many. Seems by me they have many 40 and up but that is it.

go to fashion bug same company owns them so they have the same bras just cheaper

I am a big girl too and by far the best bra I have ever owned is a Le Mystere. Oprah had show a few years ago about proper bra fitting, and this is the brand she wears. I have not been disappointed. I get mine at Dillard's.

:thumbsup2 Wore the Dream Tisha for 2 years before I had my reduction (I was a 36G). I felt a little sad getting rid of my bras because they were in such good shape! Thinking of going back to it even in my smaller size. I NEVER had to adjust myself during the day!

I really like Soma, they have a good selection (pretty lace bras around $55) and will fit you. I'm a weird size (34DD) and I can buy off the rack.

I took my DD to Soma last week with her prom dress...took about 4-different styles of strapless bras to find one that worked. While she was taking care of her business, I found the clearance rack, where I picked up a couple at $12.99. Whoo hoo!

The salesladies at the store were great! Another girl was also in her prom dress - and all the customers were so excited to see both girls in their dresses.

Now...for all of you parents who are wondering why DD can't do this on her own...the mall has restrictions on the weekends for minor children without parents.

I absolutely insist that if my DD isn't happy with how her bra fits to go to a place that does fittings. Seems like she needs to do that about every year.

Here in NJ we have a place called The Bra and Girdle Factory..... not sure if it is national. They do a great job, my DD had a medical difficult situation that caused few bras to fit comfortably. Bra and Girdle Factory helped her so much.

Hey, I was going to mention this place because I took dd there when she was younger. I think it's just local but possibly the OP has a store similar to this in her area...where the sales ladies are mature and it's not a chain.

I just wanted to say that because of this thread I went to Nordstrom to get fitted today and it was wonderful. I had been previously measured at JCPenney and that lined up with my own measurement that I had done myself. The girl at Nordstrom knew my size. I was wearing too big of a band and a different cup size than I should have been. I bought two bras and spent about $80 total. Hopefully they will last a long time.

Just wanted to add in my thoughts about Nordstrom.

It does look like that is only in NJ so I think I will go to Nordstoms. I found a web site "Linda the Bra Lady" and followed the directions how to measure myself. According to the calculator I am a 34I/34J and I am currently wearing a 36DD.

I don't really do anything for myself so I should probably go and buy myself a good bra or two this weekend.

Getting a proper fitting at a good quality store really makes a difference!! I always thought I was a 38B and had even been measured at Lane Bryant, where they confirmed that. When I went for a proper fitting at a specialty store, turned out I am a 36D! Big, big difference in fit and comfort. Now, I buy my bras at a store called Intimacy. There's only one in my area, about 15 miles away, but they're a small nationwide chain that's expanding. I LOVE MarieJo brand bras. They run $100+, but they're totally worth it. Great quality and beautiful design.

For those looking for sports bras, after you have a fitting somewhere (I also vouch for Nordstrom's), try www.teamestrogen.com. I have gotten several bras that are great for running, biking, and tennis. I'm a 36DD and the Moving Comfort bras are terrific.

Thanks! Which Lady Grace did you go to? I think I will try Nordstroms but if there is a Lady Grace in my area I might try that one too.

OP-Don't know if you are anywhere near Woburn but there is a Lady Grace outlet on Commerce Way in Woburn and from what I understand, they do fittings. I would call first before you make the trip but you might be able to snag some bargains at the outlet. :confused3

Ah, I think I have seen that. If I remember correctly it is on the road between Market Basket and Target. I will give them a call - Thanks! :)

I haven't seen them carry 36dd when ever I check there but will take a look as I will be going tomorrow or Saturday.

I love Moving Comfort's Fiona bra, and, like I said in a previous post, I'm a 30G. I run marathons in this bra. Of course, I have to buy a 32 DDD and then, take it over to the sewing machine and take it in at the band. But, it's amazing to be able to run when you are top heavy!

I've never bought a Wacoal Bra but based upon recommendations here I decided to look them up. I noticed you all said the bras were a little pricey at the stores but this beeing the Budget Board and all.....have you ever bought online? The Wacoal website has bras for $40-60. Not sure what shipping is.

I usually buy my bras at Victoria's Secret. I love going to the outlet in Orlando when I'm there! I just buy the same style in the same size. They have really held up well.

I :love::love::love: Layne bryant!
They do fittings, and helped me figure out which one works best for me- i can be either a 38DD or a 40D.
I love layne bryant because they specialize in bigger girls. No where else can I find a push up in my size. Somehow, the mainstream bra companies think that only 36 and below need a little help!!
After 3 kids, it is WONDERFUL to have a bra that put the girls back where they belong!

Urgh...I wish we had Lane Bryant where I live (or even if we could order from US sites; I'm on the East Coast of Canada)!! I'm anywhere from a 38-46DD, and it is quite the effort to find a STYLISH bra in my size; I already have the heavy-duty, tan, "over the shoulder boulder holder"!!! :rotfl:

I used to work at Victoria's Secret and I would recommend them for a bra fitting. They take it seriously and train their bra fitters. I did that for a time and what is really helpful about having someone that works in a specialized store (or area like Nordstroms intimates), is that they know all about the different bras and what is best for all sizes AND all post-surgeries (from immediately to longterm needs).

I will not pay the $50+ for a bra so I keep an eye out for the semi-annual sales, coupons, etc. I'm a 36d (dd on the other side - why is that??) and I actually find the VS cotton bras to be very nice (and relatively inexpensive - You can usually get them 2/$45 or even less then use a $10 coupon they occasionally send out). I like the lightly padded demi.

Good luck!

I got one at Nordstrom on sale for $44.99. It fits great! I really hated paying $80.00 for two bras (the other was a Calvin Klein) but it is so worth it to be comfortable.
