Good place for bra fitting

I really like Soma, they have a good selection (pretty lace bras around $55) and will fit you. I'm a weird size (34DD) and I can buy off the rack.

The only bras I can seem to fit properly in are Chantelle brand. I was fit at Nordstrom's. Stores like Macy's and Kohl's do not carry my size, which has a small band and a large cup.

I'm a small band large cup as well - which is why I end up at Nordstrom. And Sagginit is right, if you have an odd size and get fitted at a store that doesn't carry that size, your chances of being put in the wrong size (and told its the right size) rather than being referred to another store are really high.

I'm small chested and go braless as often as I can, but definitely cannot when wearing a single layer in public. I feel like I am in between cup sizes (A and B) since A's are too small and I have extra fabric in B's. Would I have the same luck at some of these places?

TIA!

There is a line that does 1/2 sizes. A 1/2, B 1/2. Think it is Hane's Her way or something like that.

I desperately need new bras. I was fitted at Nordstroms about 5-6 years ago, and have been buying Chantelles (some of them are that old, and are my Saturday-work-in-the-yard bras). I absolutely love ths brand, but I feel my ****s had changed as I entered my 40s (darn horomones!). I went back to Nordstroms in the Fall, and they put me in a bra that fit fine for the minute I tried it on, but painfully cut into my torso after wearing it for 2 hours or so. Nordstroms has a wonderful return policy, and I got a full refund. I've asked around to my friends who are large-chested to see where they go. Almost all of them go to a speciality store that specializes in mastectomy bras because they know what they're doing.

I also agree with a lot of PPs who said you get what you pay for. Do yourself a favor and buy just one, good expensive bra and see how you like it. If you decide that you like it, shop online for it. I've had luck buying the Chantelles on ebay.

I was fitted at Victoria's Secret and was a 36B. Went to Nordstrom and I'm a 32D. Bras from Nordstrom fit much better and look much better. I usually buy my bras from Nordstrom's Rack, much much cheaper.

OP, I see you are in MA. I went (and later took my teen daughters) to Lady Grace for a fitting. I purchased some Olga bras at about $45.

However I then went to bare necessaties online and ordered the same bras for cheaper.

I am a 38DD and my daughters are odd sizes which can't be found easily in stores. Online had a much better assortment. Once I knew the bras we liked it was easy to purchase.

I :love::love::love: Layne bryant!
They do fittings, and helped me figure out which one works best for me- i can be either a 38DD or a 40D.
I love layne bryant because they specialize in bigger girls. No where else can I find a push up in my size. Somehow, the mainstream bra companies think that only 36 and below need a little help!!
After 3 kids, it is WONDERFUL to have a bra that put the girls back where they belong!

OK, you have all convinced me to try Nordstrom's. DH gave me a gift card there for my birthday, and I wandered around for awhile and didn't see anything that caught me eye. But I never went into the lingerie department. I think maybe getting a good-fitting bra would be a great use for the gift card. Something I would never spend my normal budget money on, but that will get used often, and hopefully make me feel great. :thumbsup2

Thanks! Which Lady Grace did you go to? I think I will try Nordstroms but if there is a Lady Grace in my area I might try that one too.

Here in KC, I finally bit the bullet and went to the specialty store. I paid $80 each for 4 different bras. Why? I had been stuffing myself into a 36 DD, when, in fact, I'm a 30G. It's amazing how much better I look and feel. And, how much better my back feels. Plus, like a pp mentioned, I still have all 4 after 2 years and they are going strong. The one I wear the most will need to be replaced soon, but the other 3 could easily last me another 2 years. That, to me, is more of a bargain than the $30 and $40 bras I was buying at VS and throwing away after 6 months to a year, that didn't even fit me anyway. :thumbsup2

Was the specialty store you used in KC? Do you mind saying where you went? TIA!

I know you don't want a pushy salesman trying to sell you a high dollar bra, but I have to recommend Neiman Marcus. The fitters are so professional, and they make it totally worth it. They always have bras on a clearance rack for under $100 (even ones that aren't on sale), so you won't be stuck with over priced lingerie. The fitters I have had experience with are not pushy either, just very business like trying to help find the proper bra. I was wearing the wrong size, and they made me aware of it.

Frederick's of Hollywood has good bras, especially if you wear a larger cup size. They run only about $30 and are comparable to the ones that I purchased for close $110 each. That is a big price difference.

They are great and worth every penny. Then I go online to buy additional as I need them ( try bare necessities...they run specials a lot so sign up for their emails).

I get the wacol ones from Dillards and they are alot cheaper than nordstoms. They do fittings as well.

I took my daughter there over the weekend. When I measured her she was 38dd. They said 36DD which is OK but they didn't have any bra's in that size. She did try a 38DD and said that it fit but they only had the one so couldn't try on any of the other styles. This store is about 30 miles away and they told me the other store had more. I called them up and they have a few but not many. Seems by me they have many 40 and up but that is it.

I got fitted at a Hannes/Leggs/Bali/Playtex store in my local mall. Turns out I was a 34C instead of a 34B all that time... :woohoo: Explains the spillage, I thought they were shrinking in the wash!

I can buy nice soft Bali bras there that have a single underwire and not lots of padding, and they generally run for $30-35ish. Not as bad as an $80 bra but not cheapo bad either. And they run a thing where you get like 10 or 20% off your total purchase during your birthday month, so I just replace old bras once a year and it works out well for me.

We went to the one in Braintree, down the street from Braintree 5 Corners.
