Good or bad gift idea? (somewhat long)

Looking for some input before I finish this. :)

A few months ago, I designed and stitched a cross stitch pattern of Leo's mom for Leo and Gabi's breeder. That girl is one of the breeder's favorite cats, and she loved it.

Well, I showed the pattern to my two best friends (an engaged couple) before I sent it off, and they made the comment (in a longing type way) that it looked just like their Kleo, who they lost about 2 years ago (oddly, almost the same time we were fighting for and lost Sage :( ). Their reaction was kinda longing.

So, I decided to make a pattern of Kleo for them. I got a picture of her when I was taking care of their cats a few weeks ago, and am turning it into a cross stitch pattern for them. She cross-stitches as well, BTW. And they had several pictures of Kleo around the house, as well as a "memory" box with her name, picture, and a couple of favorite toys.

My question is, if you cross stitched and were given a personally-designed pattern of a beloved but lost pet, would you appreciate it, or not like the person who gave it to you since you lost that pet? I'm *pretty* sure they'd like it, about 80 or 90% sure, especially since they display some pictures of Kleo all the time, but I wanted someone else's input to make sure I wasn't about to make a mistake.

Thanks!

I think they'd love it - especially judging from their reaction to the other one you have done.

I know I would love it. I miss my last cocker spaniel soooo much and it would be such a wonderful gift and a great way to remember him.

You are so thoughtful!

it is a very thoughtful gift that I am sure will be loved by your friends..what a sweet thing of you to do !
Happy Holidays

I think that is a great idea!

When my mom lost both of her horses within about a 2 year time period, I had a picture of my mom & aunt - riding the 2 horses, enlarged and nicely framed. She was very touched and really loved the picture.

I think it would make a great gift to give for anyone that had lost a beloved pet...

I would love a cross stitch of the Lab I had from the time I was 12 until she died when I was 25.

I think its an incredibly thoughtful gift Tammi :)

That is very sweet of you!!

Tammi, I know if something happened to one of my precious babies, I would love to have something like that. Very thoughtful and a wonderful idea :)

I think it's a great gift. About 1.5 years ago my mom had to put down my childhood dog. It was really hard for both of us, but much harder for my mom since I've been out of the house for 6 years and have two dogs of my own now. My mom looked around for a dog yard thingy to put in her yard, but could never find one to look like Puff since he was a mixed bread. I found a website for a lady that paints yard signs from pictures...sent her a picture of puff and she painted him and he had angel wings. My mom loves it still. :)
