Which one is your favorite? And why?

Is there a place to research which Good Neighbor Hotels have theme park views? Who has the best views? Can they be guaranteed or just requested?

I know that if you make reservations with places like the "Howard Johnson" you can request rooms with a park view. Chances are good if you make your request far enough in advance you would get it.

A lot of DISers, myself included, love HoJo (on Harbor Blvd and is only a 10 minute walk from the main entrance) as they offer AP/Entertainment Rates for 50% off room rates on certain days. Here are the days that the Entertainment Rate is currently available for: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14
Note that the dates are updated pretty frequently (about once a week) and the AP holders can get the same discount by presenting their AP at check-in as well.

I've stayed at the Fairfield Inn by Mariott as well and was partial to it, but a lot of people seem to like it as well. Other popular hotels include Candy Cane Inn, Carousel Inn & Suites and BW Park Place Inn. Here is a map of all the hotels near DLR: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=30833146&posted=1#post30833146

Being a broke college student that still needs his Disneyland fix at least once a year, I usually stay at the Quality Inn and Suites right across the street from Hojo. Last time I went was Christmas season of 09 and it was only about $40 a night. I saw the fireworks from the room at night. They also have a complimentary breakfast with waffles. I normally don't spend much time in the rooms so I don't really care about how nice it is but if you're a light sleeper, it is right by the highway and can be pretty noisy.

Thanks for the replies! I did some research a few months ago and saw room with a great view of the parks and fireworks and can't find it again to save my life.

So, I'm especially interested in theme park views and walking distance. Any other ones I should know about?

Oh, and how far ahead can you make a reservation? I'm so used to DVC timelines, I have no idea how you do it outside of DVC.

When we take budget trip to DL we stay at the Ramada Maingate hotel -- their rooms are typical motel rooms, but there is a reasonably priced Mini-Market on-site as well as a pizza joint (though we've never eaten there), and Tony Roma's is right in front of the motel as well for an easy & cheap lunch or dinner. Also they offer a free continental breakfast -- not the greatest, but enough to get you going in the morning & hold you over for a few hours. They are one of the closest hotels to the cross walk to cross over into DL as well....from what I've read a closer walk to the turnstiles than DLH (going on foot through Downtown Disney) or PP. We usually go in the off season (March or Sept/Oct) and I don't think we've ever paid more than $90 a night.

So far, the Hojo is our fave. We did have a Disney view room last stay, and the kids LOVED sitting on the balcony our first night and watching the fireworks. Their staff is also very friendly, and any question we had, they were eager to help us with right away.

Does anyone know how far the walk is from Hojo, Ramada Inn or Quality Inn is to the main gate? :confused3

The walk from Hojos is about 8 minutes (this is with our DD8 and DD3). If you walked super fast, a couple of minutes quicker! :goodvibes
