Good jeans for a "mom jeans" figure?

"Not Your Daughter's Jeans" are wonderful. Not cheap (about $116/pr) but worth every penny. They have many different washes and fits. You buy a size smaller than what you usually wear and they fit wonderfully. They also don't look like "mom jeans" especially if you don't tuck in a top. I have a pair of straight-leg acid wash and I wear them cuffed up like capris and they look great. :thumbsup2

I agree. They are worth every penny. Occasionally they are on sale at Nordstrom's for under $100. Expensive for everyday. . .I like Old Navy's Diva jeans for that. . .but the NYDJ's are great for your "special" jeans.

I agree- the Old Navy Dreamer jeans are nice! Their Sweetheart jeans are pretty flattering and very comfortable, too.

These both these fit my mama figure great! I do get a little more of a gap over my backside with the sweetheart cut. I have both lighter and dark denim (reg and long) and they look totally different on me.

Sometimes they go on sale and you can add a coupon. I think on Black Friday I got them for less than $15.

I have a pair of Michael Kors jeans that I bought at TJ Maxx that I love - wish I could remember the name.

I also like J. Crew high heel flair jeans - these are my "go to" for dressy jeans.
They were too long and I had to have them hemmed, but I did get them on sale.

HTH
karenos;)
(Love my jeans, but after 2 kids and 39+ years, shopping for them can be a painful process!!!)

I think the change was good! I never cared for the curvy fit, but try the long and lean. Soooooooo comfy, almost like wearing work yoga pants.

This thread had perfect timing....my fav curvy jeans ripped in the wash this am,think I wore them out.

So off to the mall. I did get some long and lean, only problem, they said they don't carry "a" in the store and the r's which I normally wear are way too long. They had one pair that was just the number, w/out the a/r I ended up getting them, but the material isn't as comfy as the r ones were...those fit me perfect! Oh well..wear these for now and order the a's next sale :) I had 20% off coupon for doing survey from last visit. Don't think I can use that online, though. Of course family and friends was last week! oh well.

There is no one pair of jeans that are right for everybody. I say pick a day and head to a large mall in your area. Wear a shirt that you would typically wear with jeans and whatever shoes you would wear with jeans and be prepared to try, try, try. Take several sizes and brands. It is a painful process but well worth it when you find the ones that fit.

This.

I don't have much length in my torso for my waist. Everything has to be low rise or else the waist will literally be up in my ribs. (Up until low rise pants came into style I literally would have to buy mens and boy's jeans to find a right fit). "Low rise" jeans hit me right at my waist. "Ultra low rise showing plumbers crack" on most people barely go beneath my belly button. Traditional "Mom jeans" go right up under my breasts (I swear, they could touch my bra).

I've given up on Old Navy. I used to be able to buy their low rise jeans right off the rack until a couple years ago, when they resized all their jeans and gave them those stupid names. Diva, Goddess, Weekender, whatever...they now all fit me like Mom jeans!

And don't get me started on skinny jeans. Who the h**l invented those? They don't even look good on real skinny people.

Yesterday, I bought a pair of the NYDJs. All I can say is WOW!! I look awesome in these. In fact, after I paid for them, I went to the dressing room and changed into them. Yes, they cost $108. I have never spent that kind of money on jeans. But since I buy jeans about once a year, I considered them an investment. I got mine at Dillards.

I buy Lee jeans with the side elastic waistband. I don't wear my shirts tucked in anyway and they fit great! I buy mine at JC Penney.:goodvibes

My vote is Levi's 512 Women's Perfectly Slimming Boot Cut Jean. I buy them at kohl's but you can get them on Amazon too.

OP here. That was my plan. I'm on Spring Break this week and plan to find a new pair of jeans. These suggestions will at least help me know where to start.:lovestruc

DD is getting married Memorial Day weekend so I'll want some good looking jeans for the casual parts of the gathering. I've lost 15 pounds since Christmas. Those two factors mean I want to upgrade from "what is at the thrift store that has a boot cut and is cheap."

I know it will be a process, but having brands and stores to start out with is a big help. THANKS for the leads.

BJ's sells the Gloria Vanerbelt Amanda jeans, and a couple other styles. I saw them yesterday. I got excited but then realized they are straight let which isn't flattering at all on me.

I saw the Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans at Costco based on an earlier post here and decided to try them for $15.99. They were amazing. I went back and got more, and my mother ended up trying them and loving them as well (and we are as different as night and day when it comes to clothes). I have never been a fan of Gloria Vanderbilt products, but I LOVE these jeans. Great materials, great fit for a curvy figure.

I agree. Gloria Vanberbilt Amanda are great. Kohl's often has good sales on them, plus additional % off on occasion.
Also, Liz & Co. jeans (I found at JC Penney) are comfy and I'm not a thin girl. *L*
Both styles are stretch fabric also.

I'm agreeing with all of you about the Amanda jeans. I'm a plus size girl and I love those jeans. I finally feel like I've found something that I look halfway decent in. And I'm really liking the lower waist band.

Also, the Lee jean with the hidden elastic waist. I get both at Kohl's. Though I'm going to have to run by Costco for a looksee for the Amanda jeans.

Another pair of jeans that I love to wear but can't find in the stores in my size are the side elastic Lee jeans. But I've stopped wearing the waist high jeans much anymore because I can't wear things around my waist much these days because of acid reflux.

Have you tried the Target Merona fit solution jeans? They have a little tummy control panel in front and are awesome!!!!!! (as a bonus they are only 20-30 bucks a peice so budget compared to lots of other jeans)

This is what I just bought and they are great! They work for casual or dressy.

I love my Ann Taylor Loft jeans! I tried on a pair of Dana Buchanan- Kohls and they didn't look too good on me. I tried on a pair of cpros at Ny and Co. and really like in the pockets on the on the ffront and the rear were well proportioned.

For an actual dressier pair...try these Docker's ones that have the pants hem instead of the jeans hem. They have the tummy panel in them, and ran me about $24 or $25 at Penney's on sale without a coupon. They have that $10 off of $50 coupon, so you could get 2 pair for around $40.

This link is for Kohl's, but I couldn't find them online at Penneys, but I know I got mine there. Penney's had the tall length that I need.

I first bought a pair of Gap Long and Lean, but after trying them on at home, did not like the fit. They were a little big in the waist (not a typical problem for me) and would ride down in the back when I sat. I think I needed the higher waist so I returned them.

I went to Kohls with my 30% off coupon and bought a pair of Levis 512 boot cut. They are slimming and fit me nice. I do love Levi's since I will wear my jeans forever, or until I gain too much weight to fit in them. :rotfl:

Very please with my bargain purchase. They were on sale and I got 30% off.:cheer2: Thanks for all the good advice everyone!!!

So if you like the Riders by Lee jeans, check out their line of capris. I found some at Walmart and they fit nicely!

This.

ummm...I love skinny jeans. My favorite are Calvin Klein skinny. For a dressier look I wear the dark wash.

I found some really nice dressy jeans by ANA at Penneys. They fit so well and I always get compliments on how nice they look. They are a dark wash and have a very suptle pin stripe. Love them.
