Good Idea/Bad Idea

We will be at Disney World for my son's 4th birthday so we want to do something special. Is the T-Rex Rest. a good idea or bad? He does like dinosaurs, but he is more of an animal (safari) kind of kid. We've ate at Rain Forest cafe a number of times and IMO the food is just OK and you pay more for the atmosphere, is that the same for T-Rex. Also, how far in advance should we reserve? Any other great Disney Ideas for a Birthday?

Same kinda thing at T-Rex food and price wise. If the young guy likes dinosaurs he should like T-Rex.

Unfortunately like everything else at Disney, it just depends on when you are going to be there. We celebrated my son's 3rd birthday at Crystal Palace for breakfast and Chef Mickey's for dinner. It was great but it was also January and the crowds are lower. Prior to going we had special t-shirts air-brushed for the occasion and also got the birthday pin from guest services.

Everyone wished him a "happy birthday" all day long and our early seating at Chef Mickey's allowed Mickey time to help blow out the candle on the cupcake and Donald time to play cars.

Just make sure wherever you decide that you make your ADR's and advise them of the birthday then and when you check in for your seating.

My opinion on this is that if I'm going to be in disney and am looking for something special...I'm going to a disney restaurant. For me, I would pick Biergarten (but then again, I'm slightly older than your DS). If characters would be of interest.....Chef Mickey's is an option - who wouldn't like to make their own birthday sunday. A slight more casual/relaxing meal would be garden grille. There are just too many options to list.
