Just wondering what this route from Sanford to DTD would be like: traffic, lights, speed limits...? Rte 417 south to 50 west then 435 south to Hotel Plaza Blvd? Also any places along way to grocery shop inexpensively? Thanks for any info. Suggestions for an alternate route are welcome.

If you are already going to be on 417, just stay on it to exit 6 which is the exit for Downtown Disney. You are on vacation - the extra dollars spent on the tolls on 417 will be WELL worth it.

50 has lots of lights, lots of traffic and lots of accidents. 417 on the other hand, has very limited traffic and a speed limit of 65mph. Yes, you'll pay tolls but the convenience is worth it.

For groceries, there is an Albertsons and a SuperTargel just off 417 at the Orange Blossom Trail (17/92/441) exit. Easy off and easy on. Alternatively, there are a couple of Publix supermarkets in the area (one is very close, I believe, just past the Shrine and the Premium Outlets) and a Winn-Dixie just a little ways past Hotel Plaza Blvd. on 535.

I am going to agree with Pam here. Stay on 417. If you take 50, you will hit lots of traffic, lights, possible accidents (always seems to be a lot on Rt. 50). Then you still still have to go south on 435, which will also have lots of lights and traffic. Also the speed limit will range from 35 mph to 50 mph, depending on where you are.

Whereas if you stay on 417, you will have a 65 mph speed limit and only need to stop for the tolls.
