My family and I (DH, DS 6, and DD 5) are planning a trip to California April 7-14th. Our first 3 nights we are planning on staying somewhere in Sand Diego and visiting the zoo, Legoland, and Sea World. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a nice hotel? I would prefer it to have free parking and free breakfast. Please help!

Thanks!

When we went to San Diego for a wedding a few years ago, we stayed at Homewood Suites Liberty Staton. We loved it. They have 1 and 2 BR suites, free breakfast, free parking, beautiful view by the water, and less than 10 minutes from SeaWorld. #3 rated hotel in all of San Diego by TripAdvisor.

I highly recommend it.

We live in So Cal and have stayed at many hotels in the San Diego area. We have family there, so we have been more than just for vacation. My top pics are Sheraton Carlsbad and Grand Pacific Palisades in Carlsbad. They are next to Legoland, very close to the Safari Park (used to be Wild Animal Park and a great place), and not that far from San Diego itself. We loved the area and the relaxing pace. It is also near some great restaurants and the Carlsbad outlet mall.

We stayed here last summer (2011) and it was very centrally located to the Zoo, Sea World and the beaches. There are restaurants and a Trader Joe pretty close by as well. It's not a luxury hotel, but it is clean and offers a very decent free breakfast (and dinner a couple nights a week). Parking was also free and plentiful. There were a lot of families there over the summer. I would stay there again.

If you are looking for a more traditional hotel (not suites), there is a new hotel right across the courtyard from Homewood Suites ... don't remember the name and not sure if it has the free breakfast, but it looked very nice as well.

I just booked Beach Terrace Inn in Carlsbad, and also looked at West Inn. Both are on Trip advisor, although West Inn can only be booked on their website, andBeach Terrace Inn has some awesome price discounts on their's.

West has two king beds 330 sq ft for around $200, includes free breakfast, cookies and milk at night, and free shuttle to the beach and Legoland, and they will lend you toys and chairs for the beach for free.

Beach Terrace is right on the beach, tho, free breakfast, toys and chairs for the beach, and their double queen room is 550 sq feet and their double king room is 700 sq. ft. They have a good sale on, with the double queen under $180 and double king under $240.

I haven't been to either, but they sure looked good to me, and their reviews are high on Trip advisor.

Good luck!:goodvibes

If you stay in downtown San Diego, be prepared to pay a lot for parking. I would suggest a hotel near mission bay. It's fairly close to most of the attractions and you're not going to have sleepless nights with all of the downtown noise.

I will preface this by saying I have never been to San Diego. However, I am planning a trip for June and have done quite a bit of research. I have decided to stay at Best Western Island Palms on Shelter Island. However they do not offer free breakfast.

Another vote for Homewood Suites at Liberty Station. It is very centrally located and very comfortable.

We are visiting SD for the first time in August. We are staying at the Vagabond Inn in Hotel Circle thus far. However, I am thinking we are just going to stay there over the weekend and then for the week we are going to move to a hotel on a beach. I would like it to be within 30 miles or so of SD International. And free parking is a bonus.

Any suggestions???
