Good food, good times, on a budget

We're big fans of Yak & Yeti at AK. If you want to do the no-ADR route, they've told me you can sit at the bar. The string beans are a fun snack, so we may try that. I wonder if other restaurants have the same kind of set-up, a small bar area?

I think the hardest place to find something special for QS is Hollywood Studios, that said we like Pizza Planet. Its good enough pizza and salads and there is an arcade!

Our last time at HS we tried Starring Rolls Cafe. We thought the sandwiches were good, and the desserts, too. The seating is outdoors, though.

I think the previous posters have all made great suggestions as to the quick service restaurants.

I also give 2 thumbs up to the poster(s) who suggested sharing meals/snacks and just sort of grazing... you get to try a lot of great things, save money & don't have to plan around dining reservations/wait times. (We can't do this anymore, as we have 2 small kids & we need to eat on a somewhat normal routine... but, seeing as you have the flexibility, this is a great idea!)

I would also suggest grabbing a few basic grocery items (you can have them delivered via www.gardengrocer.com OR www.wegoshop.com-- Marge at We Go Shop is awesome!). We often make a simple breakfast in our room... cereal, breakfast bars, etc. We also packed our lunch one day last year... and plan to do so a couple of times this year... its easy and saves money... eating in for breakfast or packing a lunch will help give you a little extra money to eat at a few table service options (such as Sci Fi, which I see you are planning on).

I am not sure where you are staying but some of the resorts also have decent CS. Generally, the value resorts have a pretty good selection and some of the resort CS offer "special" things: I believe Captin Cook at the Polynesian has the famous Tonga Toast and the AKL CS has some popular soups. Depending on where you are staying and how you are spending your days, visiting a CS at a resort may work or not but it is another option to keep in mind if you want to avoid the typical hamburger/chicken nuggets fast food places.
