Ok so I asked this on the disney board too since I have a car and can get around. I know there is a restaurant sticky and I did check it out. Mythos looks awesome on the menu. That Viva! place does too.

Basically family of 5 here with 3 kids ages 17, 12, 9. We all like different things and I'm trying to keep in my budget..That doesn't mean that I am being completely frugal. I just don't want $40pp meals like Disney's.

We have to go to Trex per the kids. They insist. I checked out Mythos and am going to try and get a ressie there. Is it like disney were you have to cancel or be charged?

What is the best thing you all have had there? I know its all personal..but i want to hear!

Anyone eat at that Viva!?

Is Citywalk kid friendly? Anything you all can suggest. I don't want chains that I can eat here.

On a different note, I do see that Universal is open until 10pm some nights my week and 9pm others. Do they do a fireworks show?

I know I am supposed to try butter beer!

I have tried several items at Mythos .Loved them all.You can make ressies at Opentable.com. No charge for no show, but its easy to cancel on the go if you have the opentable phone app.Vivo just opened so I have not eaten there yet.We love MAma Dellas at Portofino Bay .Citywalk is kid friendly till late in the evening when it takes on an adult vibe( translation ..You will see people drinking etc and having fun at the clubs).DH and I love to grab a drink and sit with DD and people watch or play mini golf ..The only night time show is at the studios. It is not so much fireworks as a lagoon show with some fireworks( universal is literally in a residential area so they are limited as to what they can do)

i'm bored with Mythos.
they change the menu and my favorites are gone.

i am not into mushrooms or risotto so i'm skipping it until a new menu comes out.

Finnegans has a lot of pub style food if your family is into that.
some of the food items are meh and there are other items on the menu that are good all the time.
i prefer their scotch eggs and the bangers and mash there, more than over at the epcot british restaurant.

confisco grille is a place that will adapt to your dietary or wants needs.
it hasn't picked up in popularity yet so it is always easy to get seated there without a wait most of the times.
it has a general menu and most families can find something they like there.

Confisco Grille is my favorite and I'm worried that the public will finally discover it. So far so good.

Mythos is good and fun to see. If you decide on counter service at some point, consider Thunder Falls Terrace. We love it but they tend to close early.

We just came back from 3 days at Universal -

I've had Mythos before and enjoyed it.

This week we tried Harry Potter Three Broomsticks - I found the final price to be less than an equivalent themed restaurant at Disney. Food was good - wait wasn't too bad. We had lunch around 2pm and only waited about 15 min. for a table.

But for dinners, we enjoyed Citywalk better than the park food (my kids are ages 10 and 15) - it is definitely kid-friendly in my opinion any day before 10pm. I've seen it get crowded on weekends with college-age kids closer to midnight though.

I'm not sure where you are coming from. But Most at CityWalk are large destination-chain restaurants. Hard Rock Cafe, NASCAR, NBA City, Emeril's, Margarittaville, etc... Things you might find in major US cities like Vegas. But not commonplace everywhere.

I liked Hard Rock Cafe enough to go twice (we have one nearby in Washington DC, but we like the CityWalk place better). Beautiful building and location. Prices are same or less than what you might pay at Planet Hollywood/RainForestCafe at Downtown Disney. First evening at 8pm we walked right in. Second evening, at 7pm we only had a 15 min. wait. Warning - it's LOUD (which I like). And be sure to have your kids check-out the giant video wall. It's interactive and many kids can play with it at once.

On prior visits, I've eaten at Nascar (I'm not a Nascar guy, but they have a large arcade), and Margarittaville - both good and better than the park food in my opinion.

Ok definitely will look into Confisco grille...where is that located?

I have never been to Mythos, so I think I might like to try it.

Fwong...I have never been to any of the restaurants..so although a chain, like you said it isn't common here. That is a good thing! I think there is a Hard rock in the city but I have never been.
im stressing because I feel like I need to have an adr!! IM worrying about where we will eat!

it is in Port of Entry.
IOA

once you go past the turnstiles, go straight towards the park.
at the point where you go left for the Hulk or right towards Seuss, go right.
it is that corner building on the right.

at the end of this section are the public restrooms.

Confisco Grille is our favourite......well.......one of our favorites :rotfl:

I'm with planogirl.......we shouldn't tell too many people how good it is!

I think their Pad Thai knocks Mythos one out the park........we have always had beautiful food and it is inexpensive.

The pizza is so good and they will adapt anything to suit as macraven said.......we sometimes add or take away items off of some menu items. I always ask for pad Thai to be made much spicier........delicious.

Did Mythos and Comfisco Grill twice last week.

My personal favorite at Mythos - Beef Medallions ..... I also had their Risotto (very good) ------- try their Tomato Bisk / soup. Without question (and we've Deluxe Dined at DW ... Have done most of the Signatures ... California Grill is our favorite) Mythos is by far best value for money. The price for quality of food cannot be matched. Add in good service and wonderful atmosphere - I can't recommend it enough.

Confisco's is good IMO - not great like Mythos - but decent.

Another great ... Very high recommendation I would give is the New Mexican restaurant Antijitos. It's at City Walk .... Great for dinner. The food is superb. There is an upstairs and downstairs menu. If you have a choice go Upstairs - you can still experience the live band. I know this is trivial but I have NEVER had better Salsa and Chips anywhere else. Just sets the tone for a great family meal. Service is great, food superb - atmosphere excellent/vibrant.

Dinner at the Kitchen at HRH I would also highly recommend.

I would suggest you stay away from Bubba Gumps. The service is excellent, the food was decent (not bad, OK) but too pricey for quality when comparing Mythos, Antijitos or The Kitchen IMO.

PS: for lunch, Finnegans (sp?) also a very good choice. For Park food at Uni and IOA, nothing is going to beat Mythos.

Have Fun! :thumbsup2

We found CityWalk very kid friendly and very convenient from both Parks. I was pleasantly surprised by Margaritaville - it was very good (and I don't just mean the Margaritas ;)). As a family, we often do 3 or four appetizers to share as a lunch which can also be very cost effective, and they had some good ones. The Asiago Crab Dip with Toasted Asiago Crostinis was excellent.

We're excited to try out the new Mexican place at CityWalk - Antojito's. The menu looks wonderful - especially since they make your guacamole fresh at tableside - what's not to like about that... :thumbsup2

Add me to the list of people that love Confisco Grille. Unfortunately others in our group always wanted to try something else but it is absolutely worth a visit.

We always enjoy Mythos, but our favorite meal in June was the new Vivo in City Walk. They make their own mozzarella in-house and everything was so fresh and delicious.

We didn't try Vivo -- and now I'm kicking myself :lmao: -- oh well, there's always next time! :thumbsup2

Don't have a clue what chains you have near you but Nascar is fabulous.......we have a mini fan club on here of Boogity Boogity Boogity Shrimp salad ::yes::......it's fantastic!!

Margaritaville is excellent.....we always have good meals here.

Don't forget you can jump on a boat and eat at any of the hotel restaurants.......some are excellent!! Jake's at RPR is one of our favorites.......always our first night choice.......not just because we're too tired to go anywhere else, we really enjoy eating here ::yes::

One thing is for sure.......you have plenty of choice :thumbsup2

Ah, I missed your post before I posted - what did you have as entrees at Antojito's - we can't wait to try it and how was your trip.....?!

[Blatant lie] Don't listen to these people. Confisco's is closed. Uh... it shut down yesterday. No one should go there. Especially not to the bar. :rolleyes1

Nothing to see there.

I hear there are great food options... elsewhere.

Shame it's not open... just pass right on by making sure you look to the left as you do.

Only thing there is boarded up windows. It's really a dangerous area and should probably just be avoided entirely. Think of the children.

We didn't make it to Antijitos -- and now I'm kicking myself. We're planning to go back for a long weekend in October, since Gringotts wasn't open in June. Will have to add that to the list. But the one place my husband has requested we go back to is Vivo. He got their homemade sausage. We also couldn't believe the value, especially with the AP discount. (They had just opened the day before, so I don't know if there have been any adjustments since then.)
