AP holder park reservations

AP holders, I just reached out to Disney asking them to do away with the required park reservations especially for those staying at an onsite hotel. I encourage the rest of you to do the same and maybe we can get rid of this stupid and unnecessary requirement.

Just wondering, if someone cancels a resort reservation, do their park reservations automatically cancel? The thought occurs to me that if park reservations don’t cancel automatically, then the newest hack will be “Book a Disney resort stay, make your park reservations, and then cancel your Disney resort and stay offsite for big savings!”

ETA - it was a pain to remember that I needed them but wasn’t at all difficult to make park reservations day-of or change them day-of in early December and early February.
