My dvd player of about 5-6 years old has gone to the great electronics beyond. I need a new one for my three year old so we can survive car and airplane trips and those days I have to take him to the office bc school is closed. Any recommendations for one that won't break the bank? One with a car charger as well as a plug-in would be great. thanks!

Almost anything will work OK for the car. Some of the cheap units have limited battery life, sometimes not even enough for an entire movie. People planning on using the player on flights might spend the extra money for a unit with longer battery life.

I just bought one of these on Amazon for around $86 bucks, it came with the car holder, etc...I also bought the kids headphones with it separately. We are moving from CO to KY and thought this would be great for my son to watch on the way. We also go on allot of road trips and this will come in very handy! So far it has worked perfectly. It has good reviews on Amazon. Its the Coby TFDVD7052 7-Inch Portable Tablet DVD/CD/MP3 Player (Black)

HH Gregg has one on sale with week for $49.99 after rebate. I don't know anything about it. But may be worth a look. I bought my son his a couple years ago at Big Lots. I don't know if they would have anything. Good Luck

Make sure you get earphones he can use. You need to have your speakers off in an airplane.

Walmart carries one by Phillips that is around $60 I believe and can withstand a small child (our 3yr old has one haha)
