BF is a fan of the beach and one morning we're going to go to a beach, I know Cape Canaveral(sp) is only 45-60 minutes away, but wondering if there are any other good beaches close by, or any beaches that may be worth going to and adding a day on to the end of our trip.
Thanks.

I think COCOA beach is suppose to be the closet, We like heading down to Tampa Bay area.

I've really liked Cocoa Beach the last few times we've been. It's very easy to access, the trip form WDW is very quick and easy, and the atmosphere there is lots of fun!

Clear Water Beach is so beautiful and is only about an hour away. It's near Tampa and definitely worth a look if you are into the beach!

Clearwater is worth the trip! The gulf side beaches and water are much prettier IMHO. I have been to DOZENS of Florida beaches and we return only to Clearwater repeatedly.

I live near Cocoa Beach and that is the direction I would advise you to go. Gulf side of Florida and Atlantic side are totally different. There are usually more waves in the Atlantic than the gulf and figure your boyfriend might want to surf or boogey board. Also the pier at Coco Beach has some shops, places to eat and get a drink. You can rent boards there. Depending on when you are coming to the state there are lots of festivals and surfing contests etc. in the area. And another thing that is fun if you are here on the right day, you might see the Magic going out to see. And if there is a launch you have a great viewing site from the pier or the beach.
If you come down A1A a little farther to the South the beaches are very natural and so uncrowded that you can walk a little ways from an access and have the beach to yourself. If you want to bring home shells( again depending on the season) there will be bigger welks and more shells in the Melbourne Beach area.

Cocoa Beach is what I would go for, you have more waves and the world famous Ron Jon Surf Shop. I am not sure when your trip is but I know March 18th Cary Hart, Parks Bonifay and some other famous surfers, skaters and motocross guys will be there for an autograph and pic meet and greet. (at the Ron Jon) FREE. I live near Clearwater Beach and while it is beautiful it dosent have the waves of Cocoa Beach. Plus living here I feel Clearwater Beach has become the land of condo's a new one pops up every 5 minutes, Cocoa Beach while it does have its condo's has more the old time Florida beachy feel that I miss here in the Tampa Bay area and still has some unobstructed beach views where else driving down thru Clearwater Beach I dont see beach from the road anymore I see condos. Plus a few miles up the coast you can ride your cars on the beach (New Smyrna/Port Orange/Daytona area) that itself is a treat id recommend for anyone and believe me you cant do that on any gulf coast beaches. If it wasnt for the fact that hubby and I have great jobs here in Tampa Bay that isnt avail over there we would live around Cocoa Beach in a heartbeat since we are quite the beach/surf family. Enjoy your trip and have lots of fun! and... if you do Cocoa Beach def check out the pier like the other poster said, good food.. I recommend the MaiTai Tiki Bar thats at the very end of pier (or maybe its called Tai Tiki bar i dont know something to that effect) it has more common food and not pricey where else the Mid Atlantic thats before the Tiki is mainly seafood and somewhat pricey. If you decide to do over here in Clearwater and want more info PM me id be glad to tell you what you want to know.

Thank you all for your input, we'll probally head the way of Cocoa Beach, We're going to be at disney 3/3-3/10 so we were looking for something either morning of 3/5 or adding the day of 3/11. We'll probally add the day and enjoy several of the beaches in that area.
Thank you again for all your input.

If you're heading Cocoa way, I'd advise trying the beach at the National Seashore at Cape Canaveral. We found Cocoa a bit unappealing last year & had a blast on the Seashore area.

I would have said Clearwater because I loved the calmness of the beach and it's where my husband proposed! But we went to Cocoa Beach for our honeymoon, and I can't wait to go back! The beach is amazing, the water beautiful and the waves are awesome! The shops are fun too, and it's just a cool town.

I don't like Cocoa....we always chose to drive a little bit longer and go to Clearwater!!
