Hi, we stayed at Howard Johnson Anaheim two years ago and it was fine for a place to rest but obviously no frills. I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere as good and preferably as close to Disneyland gates please? There are 2 adults and 2 children (age 9 and 3).

Fairfield Marriott is often a popular choice.

The motels across on Harbor such as Best Western Park Place Inn and suites , Tropicana Inn and Park Vue Inn are local favorites.
I love the Candy Cane Inn - which has free parking , free breakfast and free shuttle but is walkable also.

These places are all closer than HOJO, many have free breakfast, and the rates are probably comparable. There's also the Desert Inn, which is a little cheaper and maybe not as nice, but right across the street from DL.

We've stayed at Tropicana and it was just fine. Had no problems there and the price was right.

Thank you everyone. I probably researched this in detail two years ago but I've forgotten all my work in that time :-)

If you don't mind paying a little more, there is that new place literally next door to the HOJO. It has a brand new water park too

Homewood Suites has breakfast basketball goal and a put put golf area

I've stayed at both HOJO's and BWPPI. My fav and go to hotel is now Best Western Park Place Inn (BWPPI). The staff are helpful and friendly, the rooms are clean, decent, and it's really close to the parks. I intend to book with them again for my next solo DL trip in a couple of years.

We like the HoJo because the rooms are really big. Big enough for the 5 of us. I've stayed at Camelot and Tropicana and neither are places we'd stay more than one night with 5 people. Too small. Portofino is further but cheaper.

We love the Candy Cane. Very clean, free breakfast, parking, great service, nice grounds, good pool.

Candy Cane Inn is great but rooms are significantly smaller than at HoJos
