Gonna cry from closures...

1980 Disneyland trip...pre-internet
Back in the 1980's we could hardly wait for our summer Disneyland trip...our son would be old enough to really remember this trip...and all we talked about was the rides in Fantasyland...Oh this was going to be so much fun...Our trip date arrives and lo and behold...Fantasyland was closed...ALL of Fantasyland was closed! Fantasyland was closed for renovation...Did this spoil the trip...no way...we were in Disneyland and it was pure magic!

That post should automatically be emailed to anyone who whines about ride closures during their upcoming trip. :goodvibes

It also looks like California Screamin' has been added as a refurb starting September 6 on the Disneyland.com calendar. :sad1:

We actually had planned a one day surprise trip into Disneyland for the kids on Aug 17th, but we've gone ahead and canceled it, due to all of the reports of multiple ride breakdowns/closures, etc. this past week.

We were going to be in the area for something else, but then that changed, so in the end we were solely going to SoCal for DLR. When it comes down to it, it's just not worth $1400 and 20 hours (round trip) worth of driving to go during a time when ride breakdowns seem to be abnormally high....not when we were only going to have the 1 day. DH and the kids and I would have been seriously disappointed if we'd gotten there and experienced multiple ride breakdowns/closures on the ONE day we would be in the park (we were skipping DCA this time).

We're going to head over to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk instead...my DH and kids have never been there, and we can do a ton and have a great time for probably under $100 (including parking, lol), and only a few hours of driving. :thumbsup2

Hopefully things at DLR will smooth out before long (although with everything they are trying to fix and spruce up before June, I'm not holding my breath).

I will be honest here..... I NEVER :scared1: check these boards or the schedule when planning a trip to Disneyland. I AWAYS find out after the plans are made. I stomp my feet , whine and cry. Pray to the Disney Gods that there has been some sort of cruel mistake.:headache:
In the end we go and by some kind of Disney magic:confused3 something great ALWAYS overshadows the closures, I was so bummed about. We still come home saying "I wish this was open or that" but man it was fun! Remember this and look at his face in this picture.
So whine, cry and grieve all you want just remember when you step through the tunnel, let the magic happen, it'll be there without the HM and POTC. I promise.....:cloud9:

We are traveling in late September and I was worried that the calendar wasn't showing any entertainment either! Thank you everyone, for letting us know that the calendar just isn't updated yet!

Dang--that is A LOT of closures

I can see why you're so upset.

We arrive a few days before Halloween Time opens, so will see opening weekend of that. You know there's so much stuff to do that you won't be bored at all. You can take the time to explore more of the stuff you might typically skip.

I'm excited to see the new Pirates. There's no really good time for them to refurb that ride, it's going to affect and upset tons of people no matter what. Just think of next year when it's all new and cool!
